Hi,
I have a asic miner cube and have tried 3 different power supplies and the cube powers up for ~2-3 sec then shuts off again (runs for 2 sec with fan spinning then shuts of and makes a click noise)
The psu then dose not respond for some time. After waiting a bit the psu can power back on but crashes again after the 2 sec window, this repeats again and again.
I have read some where that some psu's have load protection, but i think this is not the problem as i have tried with different psu's.
What am i doing wrong Huh
The Main psu I was planing to use was the x-viper 750 watt but dont know why its not working like it should :/
Thanks,
JT

Having problems :/
Please help

The Cube is hashing at ~32GHs on low clock so everything seems to be OK.

I'm on a Mac 10.8.5 using Stratum Proxy.
Where did you get the Stratum Proxy or did you compile it yourself? Does it support 'Long Poll"? I would really like to try that.

https://github.com/slush0/stratum-mining-proxy

Scroll down to Mac install section.

My cube is showing LP Requests as 164 for a term of 16-20 hrs.

I've been reading this forum for over a week.
I'm up to page 38.
Thanks to all for helping.

I have a question about this "WARNING" that keeps repeating:

The output above is from my Terminal program.

Anyway I was in contact with seller and they sent me picture which contact of relay I should shortened.
Problem solved, safety decreased but hashing...for now. Smiley
Care to share that information and image?

OK...I hope now it will work...imgur and inserting images here is killing me.

Sounds like cheap PSU. 500W isn't 500W.
To bolster what dogie states here are a couple of things:

1) What is needed is power at 12 volts, the advertised rating of a PSU is total, here is an example PSU spec:
Notice that the 600W PSU has a lower 12V rating than the 500W model! Yeah, the image doesn't make sense but it is a true copy.
The image is from my witeup on the cube at: http://zaph.com/cube

2) There is an in-rush current on power-up or change to high power, that is something that's not specified, the way around that is a high quality PSU and a rating substantially higher than the minimum required.

One more hint on JLebowskiTheDude's post: Instead of "Slide the main board out." I suggest placing the cube fan end up and removing the case, this helps provide support to the heavy electronics by the table it is resting on. It eliminates doe juggling of the main board and cards. The same applies to reassembling.

When I switch it on with one pcie cable in, the light comes on and the fan doesn't.

When I plug the second pcie cable in, the light and fan comes on and it quickly switches off.

In either case, I cannot connect through the router and use it.

I am using a 500w psu connected without a motherboard.

I read 500w was enough. If I bought a better psu, would it definitely work?
I am having a similar problem I have two of these Erupter cubes.

One works no problem but I'm working on getting the second one functional. If I unplug my working Erupter cube and plug the PCI connectors into the cube giving me trouble it turns on for just a second but then turns off.

Any ideas? Does it need to be reseated or something?

You should open any new or "new to you" Cube upon arrival.  Blades can move during shipping, and the screws on the heatsinks can loosen as well.

  • Remove the fuse.
  • Open the Cube.  Be careful of the fan and the ports on the back during removal of the casing.
  • Slide the main board out.  Be mindful of the weight.  The main board can bow under the weight of the blades/heatsinks.
  • Make sure the screws to the heatsinks are tightened on each blade and then make sure each blade is firmly seated to the main board.
  • Move everything back into the Cube.  Carefully align each blade into its appropriate slot as you slide the main board back in.
  • Reconnect the fan and replace the casing.  Again be careful of the ports on the back.
  • Replace the fuse.
  • Reconnect cables and power up to test.

This happens with me after every few days. I restart and it all works good. Wonder, what must be causing this!

Often when you start seeing the actual python or C source code spit back from the executable it's a connectivity issue of some kind.

Generally due to mining_proxy.exe not communicating with the stratum server effectively for one reason or another.   It can be a result of a temporary issue of internet connectivity on the users end.  Or it can also happen during some load balancing on the server end amongst a collection of IP addresses or if pool server changes IP due to some sort of conflict/attacked.

When mining_proxy.exe and the Cube(s) are connecting to a specific server IP and that server IP stops being used, it can fail.  When mining_proxy.exe and the Cube gets restarted, it points to a new/fresh IP of the pool and the stratum so everything gets "fixed".

For the past two months I have been mining, without incident, using the stratrum proxie on my block cubes. I run the proxie, alternating, from two different systems so I don't believe anything has changed on the PC side, or I would expect one of them to still work. The only thing that I have done, that is different, is try to change pools to a PPC pool to diversify my earnings. Since I attempted to change pools I am no longer able to mine on any pool (including BTCGuild, which I have never had a problem with before. I am receiving error messages, that I cannot decipher and I'm not sure what to do about this. Has anyone else dealt with this problem before, and if so did you find a solution? I will be in your debt, if you can help me with this.

Post your mining_proxy.exe command line syntax.  Also post a screenshot of your Cube configuration page(s).  A sample of one or two should suffice.

Have you checked that the IP addresses have not changed? If you are running DHCP they could have changed.

BTW, it is possible to "pin" IP addresses under DHCP to the MAC address or Client ID.

Ya think?   Grin  Congrats dude! Glad you got it working.
Like I said you had a very weird set of issues to start with.  Took a while to track them all down!
Great going getting allengrad setup!
I had forgotten how difficult this IP stuff could be for someone new to it. So many variables.

i had done stuff before, and was screwing with this for 3 days and just got to a point of "i'm screwing something up" between not loading the imgur picture correctly to asking another bud for help....networking definitely isn't my forte...i much prefer the building side of computers

and as far as cooling goes, the house stays around 70, and i have a drum fan i can slam on to freeze her up if need be

All the success =D

i'm a walking disaster, once again thank you guys(and or gals) so much

Looking good now definitely.  Congrats again!  Cool  Think of it all as a learning opportunity!

Remember to make sure the Cube stays properly cooled and you should be good from here on out.
