What is the fan noise when compared to a AM Cube. I know Dogie has had both. I have a couple on the way. I was thinking of replacing the stock fans with these.
http://www.quietpc.com/cl-swif2-12p

They are rated at 75cpm, but I plan on using two. These fans are very quiet and I have used them to tone down a Norco server.  They will be going in a spare bedroom, that is used occasionally . So I want to keed the noise to a minimum.

The cube is consistent and is like a quiet desktop pc. You could have 50 in your room and not really care. The Antminers are the same, IF you can keep it on its low rpm setting. As I have a single blade the aerodynamics aren't as good and so I use 2x120mm fans blowing directly on the heatsink to keep it cool and quiet.

Neither my antminer or cube is audible over my Avalon running at min rpm though.

I bought a couple S1s used and idk if they've replaced the fans but they only run on max RPM.  What connectors are they supposed to be plugged into to allow for a variable speed?

I have them in a cold room and the reported temp is 25C

Was wondering. Would anyone be interested in water cooling the S1? I have a machine shop and I have a few S1 units. Was thinking about it. What do you all think?

Any plans to update this guide (or create a new one) for the S1 upgrade kits?

If I can get one to the UK, yeah.

okay hopefully knows how do this on an s1 lol  I am on cg miner version 4.3.2a   what I am trying to do is get the API up and running on them to allow for a 3rd party software to control them etc a pool hopper.....    <<<<<<   I can get the api to send BUT not receiver any one have a clue how to get the api to receive on the s1 ants

May be edit with SSH do this http://coinmyne.proboards.com/thread/189/enable-full-privilege-api-antminer  if that's what you mean i also put in that line so it balance mines for me --balance . Smiley and you can also add more pools there you can't Thu the UI but do show up in the pool list in the UI.

Which from what I saw of the  UI for the S3 its built so you won't have to edit, guess I'll find out in two weeks Smiley .

I'm not sure what a  real pool hopper is only because any Pool  i mine at i usually set donation to like 3 to 5 % , i do just fine .

Shit... erased while trying to make sense of this.

Have 3x CX750M and was lead to believe 3x PCI-E power were available from each PSU. Thus far I've got 2x PCI-E power from each PSU. I'd like to be able to know how to do this if possible, if I need a cord that wasn't included, or if there is an alternate way to provide power from what I have to a blade.

You are missing all the important cables, where did you buy them?

Not included in photo are 2x PCI-E per CX750M currently in use. Seems I cannot get any more PCI-E plugs out of those PSU's
Not included in photo are 5x Modular 8pin cable to single PCI-E.

As shown, with those mess of cables, I can run 5 blades. Simply need another modular TX/HX Series only 8pin to  PCI-E.

Thanks for your patience.

So whats wrong with the CX500's why pay more for the 750's - are you going to run 2 S1's off the same PSU?
Thanks

4 PCI-E vs 2

Earlier it seems you answered the CX500 has two PCI-E outputs. Then it looks like the CX750M has 4 PCI-E outputs. As is (per question above) seems I'm only getting 2 PCI-E from each 750?

and please let me know about adding the 4 machines to the remaining modem port. if i used a switch i plug that in to the remaining, assign new IP's to each machine in the hub, and proceed as normal?

thank you a billion

I already said before, switch makes no difference to IPs, it literally just gives you more ethernet ports like a USB hub. If you only have 2 PCI-Es, then yes you are missing a cable. I'm not sure if you can buy cheaper cable packs, they're usually the premium colored and braided ones for the super expensive high end ones. You might be better off looking on ebay for second hand or dead PSUs you can salvage for cables.

CX750M is worth it over 500 because it gives you much more flexibility in the future and gives you two cable rails.

You can't add additional cables.

two more questions, i hope.

as i've added machines i've simply plugged cat5 from the machine to the modem. the modem has 1 slot left and i'm looking to add 3-4 machines. i'm out of plugs on the modem. so... i plug the hub into the last slot and plug each machine into the next open slot on the hub and repeat as before?

i have 3x corsair CX750M - no problem adding 6+3 PCI into PSU to provide 2x power leads to run a single dual blade machine. how do I add a 3rd PCI-E power lead to run a third blade? from the fixed power paperclip trick pin is a male 8 pin CPU power plug. do i use that?

i have 2x corsair HX750M - adding 4x 4prong modular cables into 4 open slots providing 3x PCI-E power leads per PSU. I should be able to run 3x Antminer Dual Blades with these two power supplies, 3 blades each or 1.5 miners each.

Am I missing some modular cables for the CX series? I've looked online for photos / how to for the extra leads on the CX series. No dice.

need photos? thanks!

you sir, are a king. thank you. i got it figured out.

i've one port left on my FiOS modem. will need to bring in a hub/switch tomorrow as i'm adding 4 more machines. how do I sort that problem? same deal, assign them more IPs and simply run them through a hub?

if nothing more than losing money on bitcoin mining, i have learned a ton about hardware and even more about not being a pussy and making paperclip mods and getting this shit done. feels good. thanks all.

also... it feels *good* running 1.5+ Th/s with 4 more machines going online tomorrow.

A switch will make no difference, its invisible.

I plugged miner number 1 with IP 192.yyy.y.yy into my modem. I then navigate to 192.yyy.y.yy on my browser, login and configure the miner, and boom it is mining.

I have two more S1 miners with the same IP 192.yyy.y.yy stamped on the front. If I plug that next box in and navigate to 192.yyy.y.yy which machine will I log-in to now? Both machines are at the same IP? On the first DHCP is on to accept assigned IP by the router.

How do I get 2 more machines online when they have the same 192.yyy.y.yy IP stamped on them?
thanks

You must change the IP of the first miner before you plug in any others. As the OP says, just change it to DHCP and you won't have any of these problems.

Setup is as follow:

IP Address      1xx.1xx.1.x
Subnet Mask   255.255.255.0
Default Gway 192.168.1.1

Seems I need to login and change the miners from their 192.yyy.y.yy to 1xx.1xx.1.252 and 1xx.1xx.1.251 and d1xx.1xx.1.250

Again, using antiquated XP. But I can't knock this computer's hustle... don't quit on a winner.

thanks gang!

Yes, I'm an idiot. Not a terrible idiot, but to you guys a complete moron. Step by step instructions would be killer!

with simply step by steps i'll love you forever

FiOS connection, connecting miners directly to modem via cat5
First machine powered up, found it by IP immediately, mining like a champ
The next two machines have the same IP

Q. How do I change the IP (or cure) this in order that the first machine be at a different IP? I changed DHCP to accept assigned IP. Clearly missing something. Windows XP.

thanks!

I don't understand what you're asking.
