I have heard the Corsair CS650 switches off because of excess voltage on the 5v, when 12v rail is fully used. Is there any way to prevent this - what device could be hooked up to the 5v line?

Also, is the Coolermaster Thunder 500W any good for an S1?
Thanks

I can buy 2x 750s to run 3x AntMiners, or for the same money or less, buy 3x 500s to run 3x AntMiners.

I've read the awesome PSU comparison, of course thing are always changing. I'm leaning to continuing with what I have, a single 500w power supply for each miner. Looks good, easy resale as a package, currently not paying for electricity (2-3 months free).

Leaning to Corsair CX500M units. Considering Corsair CX500 units. What are alternatives? Gotta be safe! Are the Sentey units any good? For the equivalent of a Corsair 500 I can pickup a Sentey 600-700+ watt unit.

Thanks Dogie... really appreciate you sharing your time and expertise.

and... what is *the* mining hardware out there or coming up? looking to partner with a friend on a serious miner, rack mountable and multi TH/s. what's coming up?

CX750Ms any day, it adds flexibility later and has way, way more PCI-E cables which you need.

Without re-reading for the 50th time.... Smiley

Need to power 3x S1 dual blade *not* overclocked. May overclock in the future.

Corsair CX500 1x per S1 will do the trick.
Corsair CX750 1x per S1 will do the trick, and is worth the few extra bucks over the 500. Yes?

thanks dogie, you are invaluable.

You can use 2x CX750s, or CXMs. Or if you're really thinking for the long term, 1x 1x ax1200i will power all 3 just about, but will give you longer term flexibility and warranty.

Without having to scroll through this thread can anyone please recommend a rear / second fan for S1?

You'll need a 4 pin fan with split pin design, I don't have any P/Ns off the top of my head sorry. That is, if you want to power it off the board. If not, any generic 12CM fan will do. You'll need some 4cm+ bolts and nuts as well.

Thanks for the great guide Dogie Smiley

Do you think it would it be ok to run 3 x s1's off 2 x Corsair CX750's?

Yeah, run 1.5 S1s off each.

Excellent thank you Smiley

Still no luck. Once it gets working it will mine non-stop but if i switch it off/reboot it - it takes forever to start mining again (many hours).
Someone has to have had the same problem?

Its very hard to tell whats going on without spares or alternative internet to test on. Sorry.

Ok. Its just that it appears to start working during 'off peak' hours. This must just be a coincidence.
What happens is when i leave it switched on for over half an hour it starts working. Now i thought this was because at the time i was trying it, the internet has higher latency where i live.
When i ping the internet from the antminer i sometimes get lost packets.

A couple more ideas - would a high latency internet connection cause this trouble connecting?
Also is wifi turned off by default? - i haven't used wifi on the antminer but i heard it could cause connection troubles.

Latency wouldnt stop mining dead, stratum only exchanges a packet of data every 50-100 seconds and then sits idle. Wifi isn't important.

In the processes list it shows cgminer using 24% of the CPU (even though its nor connected):
Code:
cgminer --bitmain-options 115200:32:8:40:350:4d81 -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -O XxXScarecrowXxX.worker1:LfDacYac --api-listen --api-network
0%
24%
Another idea is that perhaps my ISP is blocking a port? But i doubt it (the antminer works sometimes).

Yes, sure have. I dont understand why the led is blinkin when i can use the inbuilt diagnostics to ping openwrt.org.
The pool info is correct - because as i said yesterday, the miner started mining again, then i switched it off - and BAM it wont mine again.

So i have double checked things, the antminer is connected to the internet (i can ping from it successfully) but the green LED is still blinking. Why?

Have you tried flashing/reflashing the latest firmware?
