I'm NOT sure! (dont have my S3 yet) But for me it Looks like there is only 1 boad running!
You should have 2 chain's showing! Not just one ... That's why you have just the half Speed.

Here you are.

Edit : Derp after looking at the specs on the miner itself it has 32 ASIC chips, of which only 16 are currently working. But the other 16 aren't even showing up, leading me to question if it could be the power supply - after experimenting with it a minute it seems like only one of the PCIE connectors on this PSU are actually contributing power to the miner. I'll be getting a new PSU later today, I'll update afterward.

I have one of these running at 212 GH/S. Could this be a Power issue, or what can I do? Nothing on the miner's information seems to indicate it should be running as low as it is, but this is less than half capacity. Something has to be up, if anyone knows enough to help troubleshoot or point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

Post a picture of the miner status page.

I think its steel as its too heavy for aluminium, and those are the only two things you really anodise.

It is possible if you have some extra hardware. It has the software for wifi already and just needs one of the below to work. I was getting a wireless connection during testing without a pigtail. Signal strength was ~50% with the case on and right beside my WAP.

You can also do what laptops and other devices do and use an INTERNAL antenna, too.  Like this one:

There are many different kinds, just do a search for internal antenna.  Does anyone know what the enclosure is made of?  It looks like steel, so that could be a problem.  If you have a strong signal, it might just be enough to use for mining though.  Having the antenna glued/taped to the enclosure will probably help a lot (partially use the enclosure as an antenna?).  Otherwise you could always route that cable to the outside and tape the antenna to the side or something.  Someone has to try and let us know if that's even necessary.

I think an internal antenna would be easier than drilling holes, installing the connector and then a protruding antenna.  Btw, I use WiFi on all my S1's just to save on cables and switches/access points, and never had an issue with network connectivity.

Nice photo u put the s3 inside a mini soft box? I believe Grin. Btw I am going to buy some double side tape to cover that beeping hole. LoL

The wife went from pissed off to okay after I did this pad mod. So it was worth it.

Correct.  There is no LAN activity at all on the device.  The OS is not booting.  Red light on back just blinks and the only green light that is lit and blinking is on the NIC, but there is no traffic going over the wire.  I'm pretty sure the firmware went terribly wrong.  After clicking to flash the device, I walked away and when I came back I had page not found in the browser.

After repeated emails, still haven't heard back from Bitmain.

Unfortunately I upgraded the firmware and have gotten the same result.  System won't boot.  Red light blinks every second and green light on ethernet blinks in bursts.  Factory reset did nothing.  Neither did moving the cables..which was a long shot.  I think the firmware update bricked the unit.

Did you get any support from Bitmain?  I send couple of emails and nothing.
Oh, by no connection you mean you can't connect to the S3 at all? Can't find it with an ip scanner? Checked the common subnets?

In case anyone is interested, adding wireless to the miner is pretty easy.  $4 of parts and 10 mins to drill the hole and putting it all back together.  With an external antenna, I had no issues connecting to my access point on the other end of the house.

I did the same thing and haven't got a reply yet either.  They are usually pretty good about getting back to their customers.

You will get only the red light and no fan spinning if you've not configured the network or pool settings correctly. Recheck the OP.

Hi,

I just received my s3 last night and I think I already broke one of them Sad looks there is only one Red light on no fans spinning and no connection this happened after I tried to install the firmware,  What can I do ?

try to reset to default by powering it on and pushing into the hole to the right of green and red lights with a larger paper clip end (for 5-10 sec).

'The right to privacy matters'
recommended difficulty for one of these?
512.

I have 2 running on btcguild.

I get good results with 256.

But I run mine under clocked to 435 gh via freq 212.5

So if 512 is meh for you try 256
