Can Dogecoin be mined on our GSx5's using cpuminer?

I tried a different coin the other day and it wouldn't run. So I'm now faced with figuring out which Scrypt coins I can mine on these things.

And what about the future of btc? I mean, there is still speculation out there that btc will increase in value upwards of $10G's per btc. If we're mining them too, in the mean time, we all stand a chance at making a very decent profit! I don't have to pay any extra for electricity where I live so, essentially my KW costs are 0 - ZERO!

This is very close to accurate, also there are coins much more profitable than Litecoin,

If you mine DOGE for example, and you have 10 Gridseed miners, you are making $45 a day and your ROI is 60 days and your annual return is upwards of $16k (all things remaining the same)

Your power cost for a whole year is less than $100

so why not??

Sadly, but scrypt mining is going the same way btc mining gone long time ago. Manufacturers are delivering at the moment miners are not worth mining...

... just looking at the clevermining earnings per 1 Mh/s scrypt you could assume that it's equivalent to around 60 Gh/s sha256 ... mining.

... and with each btc difficulty jump, the equivalent of MhScrypt to GhSha256 is raising .... next step around 10% ...

I dont know where you are getting those numbers from for Antminer earnings. When I put 1.6GH/s into Coinwarz it tells me they earn $0.16/day mining the most profitable coin.
The Bitcoin side of the Gridseedx5 runs at 8G and Coinwarz makes that a profit of $0.79/day. Running it in Litecoin only mode produces $2.5/day on the best Scrypt coin according to Coinwarz.

There are more scrypt coins then SHA-256 coins and they are more profitable. BTC difficulty will rise so fast, your miner will be worthless very soon. In scrypt, your GPU's will probably be good until they die.

Straighten me out on something here.
I've been following the rumors, comments, assertions etc. on btc for some time now and only tonight decided to take a deeper more critical look at it.
What I understand thus far, makes me ask...
Why is it not profitable to mine with the GC3355 5 chip miners?
From what the calculations on coinwarz.com shows, mining btc is way more profitable than mining LTC or any other scrypt coin for that matter.
Doesn't coinwarz's calculator take into consideration that btc is mined by thousands with super duper TH/s rigs?
Why the great skepticism on mining btc anymore?
Still, I read others posts about running antminers at only a few 1.6GH/s rates making profits of 6 to 8 bucks per day.What's so bad about that?
I mean,with 10 ant miners, one can theoretically earn $60/$80 per day. WTF is wrong with that? That't way better than mining Scryptcoins, not to say Scrypt isn't worth mining but it is indeed, worth - less.
So I don't get it since our beloved dual miners will run many times this rate - per pod -...making one up to hundreds of dollars per day!
I'm a little bit confused!
A little help by someone well versed and experienced on the subject of btc mining with ASICs or even GPU's,, if necessary Mining is mining. We ALL can mine BTC, in any case. Not ALL can mine the same types of Script. Obvious but, interesting.

And just how does one accomplish this? Spec's say 50MHz steps and mine didn't accept a 25MHz step request today. No reason to believe it will set at finer steps.
You saying otherwise? And if so, what's your evidence?

no, you should see hashing 'yay's all the time on each miner, some work faster than others but no more than a minute or two apart from what I'm seeing on mine.
If one hangs for a longer period of time, you have a comm port issue most likely. UART port bottlenecking.
Lower FIFO receive buffer down a couple ticks and see if it straightens out.
Don't worry about any of this stuff. It's all configurable.

So some of my instances of the new CPU miner dont really ever report shares where as other will have reported 10+ in the same amount of time.

Is this something i should be worried about?(i guess it is cause i am)

I know id much rather have the share submission equal throughout the instances.

like this ...  with 200mm fans in between

well it's possible ... without fans ...

I know at least one person that does it ... since he couldn't find sleep beside the airport feeling ... that those fans give...

But then we'd all be throwing away money buying a lot of dead weight i.e. heat sinks and fans! ;[
I've thought of the same thing.
I've had a couple of them apart. Every one I wanted to take the fan off of, I had to de-solder it from the pcb terminals.
I'm running 3 pods fanless and 2 with fans. One fan unit cools 3 pods and the other fan unit cools 2 pods.
Highest temp at 850MHz was a measly 85 degrees F. No sweat! May go completely fanless after I finish tuning this rig.
One of them was fukked up as it was obviously assembled by a careless worker. QC didn't catch it which means they too suck or are non-existant. OF course a bad one gets by once in a while anyway so....
If I can find a way to access those GC3355 chips, I'm going to build my own blades. Talk about saving money and time, big time!

Would also be great for GridChip to make the GC3356 LTC Only chip! That way they'd be able to Hash at 150 to 300KH/s per chip or 750KH/s to 1500KH/s per pod! There are only 4 cores available for LTD and a massive 160 cores for BTC, which is why BTC mining generates so much more heat. The more active cores there are, the more juice is required, the higher current draw goes up hence, the more power usage (in Watts) there is.

We ain't using them 160 BTC cores so there is a lot of wasted processing power lost right there! A lot less heat generated too but....Ooph! Kind of hurts, eh? ;[ I don't know if the BTC cores can be re-configured to run LTC as well via firmware updating...or not. I'm going to find out though. Probably not. Looks like the physical architecture / nature of the SHA processor is very different from Srypt. Just wasted chip and pcb space for now! Even if / when all cores are actively hashing Scrypt, the power useage goes up but I highly doubt that would be a limiting factor where profits are concerned. 1500 KH/s x 10 pods = 15000KH/s = $100+/- per day! That's what I'm talkin bout!

So, heat sinks, gone, make new improved Scrypt only ASIC's. They could charge more per pod but we'd all be making a lot more per pod too

Of course, if they abandon small 5 chip miners for 50/100 chip units, most folks won't be able to afford to play this part of the game ;( which could harm the crypto-currency markets too.

Here is my question, if you are using just the LTC portion of the chips, do you need the fan at all?

Do you need anything but the upper heatsink?

I have never seen a photo of the underside of the board (the fan side)

The thing draws 9.5 watts at 800 freq, how much cooling could it need?

Forget about racks and shelves, someone should figure out how to mount 50 of these things inside a PC case

You can actually get better granularity than 25MHz, as various frequency dividers are supported.
