I think for protection purposes. But some people used their guns to hurt other people.
Guns were meant to protect people from those who meant to hurt us, ironically people using this very this as an instrument to cause more harm, irrespective of that I still think that guns are very much important for protection.

I don't think we need it but only if every single person leaves down guns so that never conflict happens again
Guns are our personal security on our house and properties..its the most effective weapon to defend our self..make sure you know how to deal with gun..decipline is needed..
Most of us live very shelter lives and do not fully understand how much evil exists. Evil will always have guns and I feel that if the time ever comes, guns are the only way to protect yourself. Someone said, and I don't know who, that a population with guns is governed, a population without guns is ruled. Think about it.

I always watch active self protection Youtube videos. Based on the videos shown there, the defender/victim have a higher chance of survival if he or she fights back especially with a gun rather than without.
They have guns for security purposes and for safety of family, but some of owners they abused carrying their gun. If you have guns make sure you have discipline, how to used that gun for any situation, don't abused and be careful not see the children where you hide the gun.

weapons can be used in both ways to protect or to crime its depends on intention.
Why don't we have free mental healthcare? then people wouldn't need so many guns. as they claim to be protecting themselves from "the mentally/emotionally disturbed person. its all so heartbreaking. but we have to fix the real issue first. mentally and emotionally healthy individuals don't go on mass shooting.

True guns help out to protect yourself but it is not a need. A weapon is great but the wielder must be on the same level. Guns are great, but it is not a need. I know of people who libe all their lives not holding a gun and they're ok. I've also know of people who own guns and are great marksmen but they died at gunpoint too. What I'm saying is, owning a gun is not a sure way to protect yourself. So you don't need a gun, you just need common sense and being alert in your surroundings.

Personally, we need guns to protect ourselves. Danger is out there waiting for us. Bad people are outside waiting for the timing to attack us. The use of gun as our self defense is actually a good one. Most people today are using guns to protect themselves. It is necessary also for us to register it in legal process.
The problem is when you need emergency help, the police are minutes or hours away depending where you live. You really want to give up your rights even when there are dangerous people everywhere? Look at the cities where it is illegal to own guns. They have the highest murder rates.
I believe that a normal person really has no need for guns. Only the authority such as the police and soldiers need it as their work requires fighting and subduing people who are doing crimes. In order to fight crime and protect their lives, only those in the authority should be allowed to use it.
