Harry Potter is better. Lord of the Rings is only about fighting and everyone obsessing with that one Ring... Harry Potter has a good and positive message, an interesting story, heartwarming characters and no Gollum!

But, I prefer with LOTR. It has amazing story about an advanture to save the world.
And harry potter is not less interesting. we watched how he grew from a young child until he can be strong and save the world. but, I felt the story when Harry's search for the Horcruxes seemed forced and too hasty.

Harry potter has nothing to do against Gandalf hehehe my vote goes to LOTR is really better than Harry Potter movies, LORT has more action, history, epic really good.

Yes, you are right. There are few similarities between these two movie series but I think lord of the ring is far better than Harry Potter.
LOTR is more adventurous and wider while HP is well, more based in the sociality of wizards

The Lord of the Rings universe is huge and character background is extremely detailed. The films are impressive BUT not very appealing to all age groups and genders. Harry Potter far more enjoyable to the general cinema goers, I could imagine grand parents taking kids to the cinema to watch Harry Potter and not Lord of the Rings.
I like both movie series but lord of the rings is better.
