I have on a loan I gave out. It was for 0.150btc.
So I will say that is a loss.

Yes, there are many ways in which one can lose the bitcoins. Like Loan repayment not done. Someone scammed for Bitcoins, lost in gambling and the list goes on. If we see it in depth, we realize that the loss is due to our own negligence.

Well aside from losing Bitcoins to gambling I have forgotten the passwords to several Blockchain wallets when I was first starting out with Bitcoin. Also on top of that because I was testing out different online wallets in order to find the one that would suit me the most I missed out on getting a lot of CLAMS because I didn't keep the login details for the different websites I had registrations at Cheesy It's not such a big loss I have to admit but it left a sour taste in my mouth and nowadays I am taking a proper care of all my important login details by using a good password manager. You never know when you will need to log in to some old Bitcoin wallet haha  Wink

How, and how much did you manage to lose?

Every day I trade but I counted loss from trading was very small because it will come back in the next day. But I count the loss of the vast majority were from gambling sites and hyip total of about 0.1 BTC , and the money is not returned in contrast to trading. Loss today, profit tomorrow. thank you

I've recently been trying to guess the password to my old Bitcoin wallet from 2014, but no avail Sad I guess I will try earn some Bitcoin from a signature campaign. I stupidly encrypted it with truecrypt, so I don't know how much is in there, but there must be at least 1BTC.

How, and how much did you manage to lose?

I don't prefer to declare the total amount that i lost because the number is pretty high in the recent years but i remember once that i lost around 0.6BTC on trading an altcoin which i was holding for a long time then the price crashed hard to few satoshis which was the stupidest thing that i made trading an altcoin which was not so much popular.

I "lost" 380 BTC by pre-ordering miners from Butterfly Labs.  Awesome experience.
Ouch that sounds just horrible.

Lose in what sense ? If its by losing access to waller or private keys , then yes. Close to 0.4 BTC after I made a new wallet sent money to it, and before my end of the day backup my laptop crashed. Lost it all :/

the important thing is how to move on from the defeat. no matter how big your losses. The most needed is to move on so that you quickly forget the defeat. because it was very painful

I do not get into that circle as I didn't lose any Bitcoins. If it counts, I only lost 0.0005 I on purpose when my Bitcoin Core wallet needed to download 60gb of data and I didn't want to wait that much since my network isn't anything special.

You dont need to synchronize Bitcoin Core wallet, just get the private key of the address inside Bitcoin Core and import it to any other wallet you use

A big part of people here are gamblers, and of course, they lost money. Besides that, many people lost because of no backups, getting scammed and other.

Lost in what way?  If bitcoin lost because of scams counts, I have lost over 1BTC and less than 3BTC.  Even more on gambling, but I doubt that counts.  I've never lost bitcoins due to of hardware failure or bad memory.

How do you not realize that the obvious answer to your question (in the OP) is yes? There are quite a lot of people that have lost Bitcoin through various events (e.g. theft, sending to wrong addresses, hardware failure, no wallet backups and ect.). However, fortunately I can say that I'm not one of them. I've successfully avoided a lot of problematic events such as (Mt.Gox, Inputs.io, Cryptsy) and have properly managed to keep my wallets safe and secure.

Here is a story where someone lost 7500 bitcoins.

Not very much, but I used to be sloppy with saving my older wallet files, which contained some small amounts that I considered dust at the time. Same story as the hard disk discard, but not as bad monetarily. Maybe 0.02 or so.
