I have a Batch 1 baby jet and I bought the expansion board. Will I be able to use the MPP board with  them?

If not, why was this not though of before - you knew mpp + expansion would be needed on the baby jet?

Yes the MPP board can be used with them.

You bought the expansion board to get the extra hashing power now instead of in 3 months.

Hey Guys,

We realized that a bit of confusion was raised yesterday in regard to the MPP. So this is the official post concerning the MPP:

HashFast will be providing all MPP customers (Batches 1, 2, and 3) with additional ASICs in the form of complete mini-boards.

Cheers,

so just to clarify everyone's strategy.

if you bought a BJ, when the MPP hits, install 1 module into your current BJ.  then simply buy OEM parts: a 2U or 4U rack along with PSU, cooler, fans and plunk in the other 3 modules.  you'll need an old laptop, pc, or Raspi to install integrated HF driver/cgminer and you're ready to go.

a cheap 5x power increase.  extraordinary.

Are you sure?

I'm not sure of anything any more. The posts are from two different accounts, so you may be right.

It would be completely unfair to split MPP on "regular" and "additionally paid", and can't believe HF would do such a thing. They would never be believed after that.

There's nothing contradictory, you guys are just muddying the clear water. Why copy/pasting instead of properly quoting something? Because that way it can't be seen the quote you are giving is posted before, not after the one I've quoted. The sentence:

Hey Guys,

This statement needs to be clarified and was released prematurely. We are currently in the final stages of an internal discussion about how to further protect miners moving forward for customers that opt into purchasing it.

We have preliminarily decided to further protect our miners that opt in for the miner protection at a higher price point, and provide full modules for orders placed in Batch 2 and 3.

Unless there is another post you have seen, but not quoted here, the timeframe is pretty clear:
i) First, the blanket provision was given
ii) Then it was retracted, and a new provision for only batches 2 and 3 was given.

applies to their original blog post, not to crystal-clear statement given afterwards that nobody will get raw chips as MPP compensation, everyone is getting fully functional miners. Everything else is just trolling.

It can't be more clear than this in today's update:

It can't be less clear than the contradictory posts made.
It seems that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

By this comment I understand that what they published in today's update is not 100% sure and have to be clarified and still aproved by HF. Again I am not saying that you are not right, just lets wait for HF 100% confirmation udpate  Wink

It can't be more clear than this in today's update:

IMPORTANT UPDATE

HashFast customers opting for the Miner Protection Program will receive their additional ASICs already assembled onto mini-boards.

We are not shipping raw chips.

There is no need for MMP customers to worry about the time/trouble/expense of PCB integration.

MPP mini-boards will arrive ready to go, and are easily installed into a Baby Jet's extra space.  The process is a lot like upgrading a normal PC and does not require any soldering or special tools beyond a screwdriver.

If they now exclude this first customers from giving them the modular boards if the MPP has to be executed that will make no sense.

Read the other HF thread, it's official: Customers from all batches covered by MPP will be given fully functional miners, nobody will get only chips. It was not clear in original blog post and now they've made it explicit.

So batch 1 orders are unaffected by this?

That would be incredibly lame.  It would be a double slight; killing the market for boards since no one after the first batch would need them while also explicitly giving preferential treatment to later customers.

I totally agree. They already made damage to first batch customers by offering those 3 days of sales where you can purchase a sierra with x3 hashing power at the same price as a babyjet with 1 month difference (which will be shorter if they delay the first bach shipment). If they now exclude this first customers from giving them the modular boards if the MPP has to be executed that will make no sense.

MPP mini-boards will arrive ready to go, and are easily installed into a Baby Jet's extra space.  The process is a lot like upgrading a normal PC and does not require any soldering or special tools beyond a screwdriver.

If our customers wish to install them in something different from the two models of rig that HashFast makes (the Baby Jet & the Sierra) that's absolutely OK.  All that's needed is some kind of ATX case, a standard PC power supply, a cooling system of their choice,  and a controller.   The choice of what controller to use is also completely up to the customer; just about any device that will run CGminer is fine (a raspberry pi, a tablet, a small server, or whatever works best).

Also, if someone you trust has come up with a design you like, feel free to ask them for a hand or buy one from them.  We believe that hardware should be open, and available for anyone to take in whatever direction they think is best.

As far as we are concerned, this is an extension of the same approach we are taking with our software; HashFast drivers will be completely open-source so you may software of your choice, and CGminer will have native support right away.

We've been running CGMiner in our FPGA emulation since June.   It works great, and we think people will be happy with the quality of our drivers.   Other folks who have seen them were Smiley

We will take some raw chips if you have any kicking about... our project is keen on working with a variety of chips you know. Grin
