I haven't done anything crazy just to gamble.  Ever since my childhood, I have not been hooked on gambling.  I gamble yes, but I always gamble within my limitations. I also don't have any escapades like skipping classes or going to unfamiliar places just to gamble.  Maybe I am so afraid that my parents may find me if I do such things and get heavily scolded. 

In short, I prioritize important matters over my gambling activity.


Now, I wonder what is the connection of this question to your storytelling?  But to answer this question, I have not experience betting at a wrong place and the wrong time, probably betting on the wrong team... but I doubt that it would be at the wrong time since it was a scheduled match...

I also placed bet on game like this with my friends when I was in school, but we don’t play the game during the school hour, we do play the game mostly after closing from school, instead of me to go back home, I will head to my friends house and we will gamble first before I will go home. I hardly spend the money given to me when am going to school, I do save it to gamble after closing from school. Sometimes we do decide to place a bet on it, why sometimes we just do it just for fun, we laugh and have fun.

Waw so your friend sells cigarettes? That’s really serious, but gambling in school bathroom is kind of risky, because you are likely going to be busted one day, that’s really crazy to me, and it’s surprises me as you said your friend sells cigarettes,  then maybe you have a lots of bad friends during your childhood.

While in school I know some of my classmates who gamble using cards mostly in the bushes that surround our school. You don't dare gamble inside the school compound because it will lead to instant expulsion. It is common to see many of my seniors or even classmates outside the school environment gambling.

I have never engaged in this kind of card game but I was into other forms of gambling. We usually form a football team where each member will contribute a sum which would be used to bet with our opponents. A referee will be appointed who will officiate the game and also take custody of the money. The winner will receive the bet money and the team members will share the win after giving the referee his commission. I liked this type of gambling because it is your team's performance that will determine if you win or lose. It is common to see our classmates doing their best just to ensure that they win the bet. It was a good experience because this gambling football match is the true picture of gambling for entertainment and not just for money.

As I read through your story what I am pondering on is how you guys knew about betting. Who was the first to introduce who to betting and did this type of crazy betting end in middle school or you guys graduated to something more sophisticated?

My own story is far different from yours. Looking back now, there were these types of bets but we didn't refer to them as betting. It was more of daring another person for accomplish a certain feat within a duration of time. If the person did, then the person who dared the other will do some task like write their essay, or give up their launch. We didn't give it much thought then. It will be after 10years that the wave of sports betting would spread through my country and we'd start to bet on real events hoping for a financially rewarding outcome.

Gambling and betting is one of the entertainments that I often do with my friends. and the first time I was introduced to gambling was when I was still at school, because at that time my curiosity about this matter was very high, I wanted to try new things that I had never done, including gambling and betting. Playing scratch tickets is a type of gambling that I often play and is usually available at outlets near schools. because at that time we didn't really understand about card gambling and didn't know where to buy the cards.

At that time we only played the type of gambling that was easiest to find. Enduring hunger is something we often do, and this is not because we don't have money, but because we use that money to buy scratch tickets.
Maybe this is one of the dumbest things we've ever done. This is something we can't be proud of, but I can't forget it, where maybe now I can buy lots of scratch tickets, but not with friends. I remember that togetherness...

Mine is nothing crazy. We also used to play simple betting games in school. There's this one time in high school wherein our teacher in Physics is discussing something in front, and we were at the back playing simple dice games betting some coins here and there. We were like that for a good 30 minutes, only to find out that one of the head teachers was behind our backs and are just observing us. We were sent to the guidance counselor's office and got our parents called because of that incident Fun times, but ever since then I put some distance between me and gambling, and haven't touched it again until I'm working after college.

Pardon me please but mehnn you did really had a rough childhood, selling cigarettes and gambling combined. How many classes did you actually miss I am quite sure that there are some persons that have done things more worse than this for bets while growing up, and more interestingly there some of us that did some weird things just because of a girl in school we're into.

Maybe I have done something crazy in all my time of gambling especially in my childhood days with mates but can't recollect any of one of those occasions, but as an adult I remember many times I have had to take long route instead of a short cut route on my way back home just so I can stop at a gambling store along the road to book a bet mostly days I don't feel like gambling online for some personal reasons. I think at some points we tend to carry out some weird actions for the love of something we do and gambling is not excluded in that.

I grew up in an area that was described as “Ghetto” and so I experienced different forms of gambling. My mom owned a small shop so whenever I sold something from that should, I would not disclose it to her and then I would use the money to gamble. Sometimes when we see two persons argue and want to fight, we would place a bet on either of the parties to win and then make a stake. Gambling with card games and throwing dice was so common that every young guy in my area then was involved in the gambling.

When I went to secondary school. I became so notorious that teachers believed that I was the one influencing other students and luring them to gambling. Sometimes we would snick out from school, change our school uniforms and then go to a game hall where people gamble with other players. While, as I began to advance in age I stopped involving in street gambling because the hostility was high in this area,

Heck No! I've never done that before, and not a single ignoble act about betting while growing up. It has always been games among playmates then and even if we bet by mouth when we play some games at "the right hours and at the right places," we did not fulfil our promises since it was never strict but on a friendship level. This is what I expected little ones that have not reach the adulthood to do as well.

Thankfully, you issued the warning about this so that anyone reading it will know that it is not what you are proud of. Everyone has good and bad memories and even if it is bad at times it could still be worth smiling about as it is part of why we are smart when we do something that could even seem odd. Nonetheless, it shows the level at which anyone no matter how little you are could sort for fun and the money.

Something similar to you OP, just a bit better though. Heck I think the worst idea we've had as friends was playing in the middle of the class. We were plenty known to the faculty staff to be that little group that plays cards all the time so whenever the teacher rolls down the hallway, they know to always check our classrooms to see whether we're playing or not. We've had like a dozen or two deck of cards that were confiscated due to that lmao.

After those instances though I've completely swapped to online gambling. A few instances of playing together with new friends in college, but nothing too crazy happened there.

First time hearing op said their stupidity. However, you are so lucky to realize your mistakes and were addictions is bringing you to. But it's bad as a student to gamble while school time. Even when you are not gambling with money time will come when you will start betting with money and as you have started at your early age it would be very difficult to quit.
Funny aspect of addiction and gamblers is they don't always agree that they are addicted to gamble. You see, now from using the money made from cigarettes to gamble one day you might sell property and use the money to gamble, that's how additcions start.

I suppose that anyone that has gambled on their youth has some memories of dumb stuff they did back in the day, in my case poker was just starting to get popular and I really liked the math aspect of it, as compared to other games the fact that your skill mattered was something that made it completely different to me, so there were times in which my friends and other peers played poker for hours, even before an upcoming test, and even if I still passed, there is no doubt that was a dumb decision.

My school had students who engaged in similar acts like you but I never joined them when I was still in school environment or still in my school uniform because I was among the few that was being used as an example to other students about how they should behave.

But when I'm not in school I play similar card games with my friends but the only difference is that we don't bet anything and also don't sell drugs or cigarettes - ours was purely for fun.


The only time I can still recall engaging in gambling at the wrong time was when I logged into my account during a boring meeting to play some casino games. Aside from that I dont think I have done any other bettingthat I'd consider “wrong time, wrong place” betting.  

A lot of funny things that was done in high school but I wouldn't like to mention them. I did the crazy thing when I was much younger, I was sent on an errand by my mom before she left the house for shopping. On my way to get the stuffs, I came across my friend, and we decided to go gamble on play station Konami soccer game.


We started gambling on little amount though, a. D we were enjoying the fun to the extend that I forget that I was suppose to get those stuffs for my mom. The funny thing is that we gambled till it was dark. It was when I lost all the funds on me that I remembered that I was sent on an errand, and when I came out from the place it was night, I got confused and went back home because the person I need those stuffs from must have closed for the day.

Well during the school days there were clusters of students in secluded places and yes they gambled in cards, dice and they did all manner of things that were red flag in school but whether I took part in such manner of gambling, I didn't myself but maybe guys that were close to me participated but definitely there were hidden places that appeared gambling spots. So I have not done the crazy things as to gamble in a toilet  

Memories are hard to forget of skipping school just because of betting.

This did not become a habit because when I was in school, I was still a disciplinarian. hahaha
I felt like a nerd at the time but got carried away by my friends, but the most common thing to do was to smoke.

But the most stupid bet is pocket money to bet all these card games that started with nothing until the point where there is boredom then money is used then the sensation is even more different. And I don't want to tell this to anyone except here.

You just reminded me of my old memory, which led to the last beating I received from my dad during my childhood.
 
My dad has a small provision shop close to our community play ground, and most of the time my friends come to visit me in my dad's shop, and we can stay and play around. My parents don't allow me to go very far from the shop so that they can keep an eye on me. I also help them overlook how things are going in the shop.

One faithful day, which was the day I made one of the worst mistakes as a child, since we were playing and my dad left the shop for only me to oversee, I decided to get one card from the shop so that we could use it to keep ourselves busy.
 
We were playing the game, and I got carried away. There was a little cash in my hand, which I forgot to drop on our cash carton after the last sale I did. I didn't know when my dad walked in and saw all of us gathered at a place playing card games.
 
He asked the other children to leave and then turned to me with a disappointed face and said that he left me in the shop instead of asking me to do what he asked me to do. I decided to use his money to gamble at my age. All the explanations that I was given at that moment were all a waste, as I ended up receiving a beating, and he warned me never to see me with those sets of friends again.

Each country has a different school system and you can be expelled for doing one thing, but in another country the same thing will only get you a warning. A great example of such differences is the attitude towards cheating on tests. In my school if you were caught you'd only fail the test, but in many schools in the US it's a serious offense.
We did all the stupid things in school. People would of course smoke, but they'd run out during a break and smoke outside, often in freezing temperatures, catching a cold.
When it comes to gambling we'd bet a lot, but it used to be very simple, like betting on the outcome of the test, or whether we'd get a test or a certain question on the test. Whoever was right would get the money. We'd also play poker at school using real coins that had very low value, so the winner was able to buy a can of soda, or a doughnut

Betting has been one of the craziest things that have made me too go backward in school when I was in high school sometimes my parents gave me money to pay for some stuff in school and I would quickly take out 50% of it in betting I am my friends have really done something bad and I keep on losing Well it’s a really bad memory because my parents keep on hitting me and having issues with me, but I do enjoy myself at that age I will never advise anyone to go into that kind of habits because I know right now children are still doing crazy things in school .

You just reminded me of my school days in the university. I do gamble with cards to meet my needs in school. In my lodge are filled with student who love gambling so much. The craziest part is that i quit going to lectures, what i do is that the money i make from betting in cards i used some to settle some things i did not do in school while i use the rest to bet more throughout the day.

Another crazy thing i did again, was when i used my tuition fee given to me by my parents to gamble. I gambled till it remained 20% of the money. I saw that there is no use for that money again so i went all in with that amount and funny enough i won. Things we did when growing up is crazy you know!
