I know an uncle of mine who bets on the lottery every week. When he can't go to the lottery shop himself, he asks a relative or even an employee to go there to register his bet, but he never forgets to bet.
On the other hand, he has confessed to me that many times he simply doesn't check his bets, because he doesn't care much about the small prizes, only about the main one, and he tells me that if he wins the main prize there will be a big announcement in town and then he will check the tickets to see if he is the winner.

I'm sure that even though he hasn't won the main prize yet, he must have won a good amount of money in smaller prizes that he hasn't even bothered to check.

I only bet on the end-of-year prizes, which are usually accumulated and have a higher bet value, and even so I have never failed to check any of my bets.

This has never happened to me. Lotto isn't my thing but it's a funny coincidence if someone who has his ticket checked when he in fact have won already.

That happens for real and many of us that gets older are becoming forgetful. But when we do, it's a good experience that upon checking the lottery ticket that we have has actually won some money.

And it's even the nicest coincidence if it's the jackpot that have been won.

I would never forget such things, I don't remember doing it. If I buy a lottery ticket, I would be waiting for the time when the results would be announced because who knows? I might get lucky in one of these days. If I'm a regular customer and buy tickets almost every day/week/month, there is no chance I wouldn't remember looking at the results.

Even if I'm working at that moment or maybe tired and taking a nap, first thing that would come to my mind when I wake up or get free is what might have happened to the lottery and I should check the results ASAP.

Until now I still have some lottery tickets that I’m not able to check if I won since my neighborhood is so active on lotto results that informs me whether there’s already someone won the jackpot or not while I'm not interested on the consolation prizes also that I don’t have trust on my luck to win anything from my ticket after missing the opportunity to win the jackpot.

I’m still doing this but only bet casually whenever there’s a huge prize pool already accumulated on our national lottery.

I went through a similar situation several years ago, I was given a lotto ticket through wagering one of the biggest events and didn't check back if I won because I thought my chances of winning were close to nothing. It took me a week or two before I opened my account again and initially, I was confused about where the money came from as it was a lot for a regular gambler, and eventually found out their lottery had several prizes. even though I'm not a LOTTO fan, we have it in their numbers across my street and from observation, forgetting to check your lotto ticket is just a pure definition of carelessness because doing so doesn't even take time. most of the lotto cashiers are very friendly with their customers and you can even take their contact and tell them to help check your ticket for you sometimes. it's just like staking a game and then you forget to check the outcome of the game by the time the game is over, who does that? even as the game is in motion, you can't even rest too much but you will always be compelled to continue checking your live score until the game come to an end. any form of tiredness that has gotten to you to the extent that you placed a bet or booked a lotto ticket but forgets about it is enough reason not to even book it in the first place.

This can't apply to us the same way because we are different human beings with different personalities, work schedules and the ability to handle pressure/stress. If your friend who could be taking his time and using his money to purchase the lottery tickets could be fervent in doing that, then it shows that he means the business.

Yet, he can't cheat nature, he must work and he must rest, otherwise, he will break down and the lottery ticket will still be wasted regardless of whether he wins $1m. Since it is a lottery ticket that doesn't expire easily, I urge him to continue that way, weekend is not so long to check all the tickets bought in a week.

For some reason, I don't really like the lottery. I would describe the lottery as a leisurely gambling game in a calm atmosphere of waiting for the result. If the lottery is the type that takes longer period of time before the result comes out, then one could have forgotten that he took one in the past, but if it takes nothing more than a week to comes out, then i don't thing its something good enough for a gambler or it subscriber to easily forget like that, because for taking such a lottery, i expect their mind to be always on it until when the effect is fully observed or the result out, i wont also be surprised at seeing some gamblers not meeting up with things like this, because they have a lot on their minds running as well as the numbers of other similar applications they have made.
