Would you people invest in NXT ?
I see a feature in NXT but I don't really like their distribution
I see NXT as just another coin. I agree that their distribution is pretty lopsided. One thing I would like to stress is that its hard to "invest" in most coins, as most coins are created to be investment vehicles.
Lets take Darkcoin or Blackcoin for example. The only time I would use those coins is if I ever needed to conduct a transaction in that denomination. Otherwise, I am just taking on risk holding on to the coin, just like any other. Most business is conducting in BTC anyways so the only other reason for me to hold those coins is for speculation.
My investment style doesn't include coins like BC or Dark. I have lost out on plenty of profit from not speculating on these coins, but for every moon rocket like BC or DARK, you have 10 failed launches like WC or FAC. Chances are that I will strike out more times than not, which would leave me with a smaller account every time.
The reason why I like Hobonickels is because I understand one of its purposes. Its a financial tool to generate growth. The risk and reward is not as skewed as with other coins.
These are the reasons why I don't "invest" in NXT.
well stated -
and of course there is a well played out and well distributed system with growing community and vendors, these are the real slow investment vehicles for crypto .
basically anything that has a huge distro time is subject to intense mining monopoly,(or at least its potential) this is why there are so many effects like the one you stated.
there are very few fully distributed currency - but as they cycle down they have generally the opposite network effect, because of the crypto psychology life cycle, and the key part of the uncertainty is taken away, so what we have found is that as these go down, little by little , more people come on board, then excitement builds and we return to the mean average. (probably overshoot )
if you look carefully you can see it.
everything else is pretty much a "scam" as you stated - some will recover - some will never recover, IPO will be a circle jerk forever, because they are the ultimate closed loop, PoW with an intense monopoly will start high - be Bid up Dark style then fade away, then eventually at some point in the future may return.
basically full distro systems like Quark, potentially Zeta , a few others just speed this cycle up - then the best fundamentals wins.
Summary
i'm totally comfortable parking % of my profit into a full distro like Quark simply because as the larger wallets sell out - i'm parking my reserve in an up cycle long term, with the comfort of knowing i have no tard with a huge ASIC monopoly mining 80% of a huge reward to dump on me.
you have found safety in stake - but for tech reasons i still find that slightly more risky for a reserve stock- but less than paper of course.
