Someone is sitting in the shade today...

i have been running a pair of 5970 for a while, not that impressed. 5870s are still much better bang for buck.  with win7 64bit and guiminer, any kind of overclock makes the pc crash after a few days of running.  Now i just run everything at default, gets 1200MH for the pair - 300MH per gpu.  You will definitely need some space between the cards if running 2 of those otherwise the fan cannot keep up. I had to get a pcie extender and an utility blower fan. Now it runs at around 70 degress with 60% fan speed.

With so many people buying this card, hopefully someone can post some stable config for win7 running guiminer.

I read thru this whole post because I just bot 3 of these cards from amazon.  I have a nice 1200 psu and I am hoping to get all 6 GPUs up to 420mhash. with linuxcoin 2.5G with one PSU.  but I am a little worried about the heat on the 2nd gpu someone was talking about...

anyone still running this thing?

I have my first 3 running at 825/300 doing 380Mh/s per GPU. Anything above this seems to be unstable since you are pulling so much juice through the motherboard. You would probably need 16x extenders with the extra molex to be able to do higher Mh/s per GPU.

Is there an easy way to swap mounting brackets?  Or is it like welded on there or something?
It's easy to swap if you have another one... Identical preferably

Got mine today, came with a mini-dp to hdmi adapter, a dvi-hdmi adapter, and CF bridge.

Unfortunately it won't even post. Goes to 100% on the fan and stays there Sad  RMAing tomorrow.
Generally that's what happens when the card isn't properly seated (but the power is connected)...

Yeah I'm thinking of RMA'ing mine too.  I mean it works just fine and looks sexy as hell, but the mounting bracket is all kinds of bent up from improper packing.

Did you buy yours from NewEgg, or the other place (that threw in several misc. accessories for about $8 more in shipping)

NewEgg. It came with the usual accessories and, for no extra charge, a post-modern sculpture made out of the mounting bracket on my card.

RMA it now because if it dies 20 days from now, you will have a hard time convincing newegg that it was bent from shipping...

Yours does operate fine though and odds are they'll ship it the same way with your new one and you'll have sent a bent card for a bent card.

I can't tell what power usage I'm hitting, but it all runs with my Corsair AX850.

If you have the thermals for it shoot for 1ghz clock 900mh/s on a single card would be epic

900 mh/s on a single card would force me to click buy though...

One should easily get over 800 mh/s total for the purchase to make any sense at all.
did you buy one?

nope. just past experience with mine before it broke and i got a refund.

Get a fan like this one or similar and use it across the output vents to evacuate additional air

Ok at 940/300MHz, 1.112v I'm getting 414.XX MH/s per core (829 MH/s total).  I'm not even sure what the voltage should be since I've never messed with it on my 5870s.  The first core on the 5970 runs cool at 67C/85% but the second core runs a lot warmer (I guess it's getting air downstream of core 1) at 87C.  Don't tell me I need to water cool this thing  Undecided
