Since i just partake in gambling just for fun,i usually bet on high odds. It's always fun betting for the underdog, when they win,it bring much more joy than betting for the usual winning team.I'm not interested in low odds because it's just the usual predictable outcome,no fun in that and boring.

It would be interesting to know your stats if you keep them. How often do you bet and how many of your outsider bets are successful? In all my practice I have only been able to win a few times by betting on an underdog. That's why I don't see the point in betting on high odds. I'd rather earn less, but the probability that I won't lose my money is higher.

Well,we are the same, just win a few times by betting on an underdog and more loses. But like i said earlier,it's just for fun and i don't mind that kind of loss. What i seek is the euphoria when the underdog is winning and you can't find that kind of joy often.

Football betting is all about luck and risk so u will rather go for high odds, as that will increase your winning amount, accumulating low odds will only increase your chances of losing the bet so if are taking the risk it has to be worth it a while.

I can say it is based on you predictions, whenever you able to predicts the right scores then you are sure to win, most at time odds does not really matters as it will land you having much games packed to together at such point a game might be out of predicted but having only a game or two games predicted with less odd will get you played.
Alternatively what i does is that having the games played twice with less stakes so if the first prediction doesn't hits the second predictions will surely hit up.

Let us assume that high odds start from 1.5 and above while low odds starts from 1.2 and below.

I specifically like football gambling. When I started to gamble, I go for high odds, but I was not that experienced and I lost a lot. I gained experience but I preferred to gamble on low odds. Only what this led me to is to play more and I noticed losses too. This is just a means someone can also become addicted because low odds will only want you to accumulate and bet more. If you bet more frequently than usual, regardless of the odd, be it high or low, loss is inevitable, it is guaranteed.

I play less often unlike before, I reduced the money I am using to bet, emotions gone and I win than before. How about you people, are you high odd punter or low odd. Can you also tell us your experience? At you losing or you make profit from the odds you are taking?

I've experienced the same thing as you when I was still not much experience and knowledge about soccer betting.  some time after experiencing a lot of defeat then I thought, that this is bad.  addiction is based on a sense of desire to win and win until the balance gets bigger.  The experience made me learn from time to time so I don't bet too actively when I don't have a strong prediction to choose.  by preventing and controlling myself I believe it avoids the loss of recklessness, desire and thirst for victory.  The point is from the many experiences that I have gained, I have learned to overcome myself and if you want to bet, you always have to be based on analysis because it is an important part to reduce the chance of losing even though it is not a surefire guarantee to win.

It turns out that because of people who prefer to bet on favorites, the odds are always distorted in their favor and it makes sense to bet only on underdogs. But I remember that someone did a study that if we bet only on the favorites or only on the underdogs, then we lose the same percentage on average. Does this really mean that bookmakers have learned how to accurately determine the probability of outcomes in games?

I don't understand how bookies do it. but surely they have done research to determine this. After all, gambling is a business for all bookmakers. So, there must be an analysis that has been done so that they do not lose. Sorry I can't speculate on this, because it's beyond my knowledge. Maybe, if the reference is still there, you can share it here, so members can also read how these odds can give the same average.

Would be good to see the study, but favorites and underdogs can be determined by 1.8 and 2.2 odds, as well as 1.1 and 12.0 odds.

I think a lot of times you see for example let us say tennis or football the favorites is always caused by people betting on their country or favorite sports person. England for example. So the lesser team/player who may have 2.0 odds actually goes down to 1.8 or 1.7 or even 1.5 just because bookmakers have to adjust risk on the bets.

Don't forget bookies actually don't profit from successfully picking the losing/winning sides but on adjusting the odds down from what the actual one is. So for sure they win over the long run no matter how people bet. Theoretically anyway Smiley

I'd choose HIGH odds, simply because I'm small gambler so the only way for me to make nice profit with small bet is to bet on high odds. No matter what games I am going to play, I'll choose high odds including in sports betting. Mostly I'll prefer to play multibet/parlay where I can create high odds by selecting some games at the same time. It is high risk ofc, but high return as well when I'm lucky enough to win. In simple words, I'd prefer to bet $1-$2 to win $10 than bet more than $20 to win the same $10.

I didn't bet based on which is the favorite (low odds) or which is the underdog (high odds), but I bet based on my analysis and how's their performance in the past. There's a chance the underdog will win, I've seen so many sports have an upset. So, if you bet on low odds, you will not always win.

Which one I prefer depends on my current mood. I prefer low odds when I want to win. When I want excitement, high odds are nice. Years ago, when I first started gambling, I always preferred low odds. Usually I was winning and I was used to gambling that way. Thus, over time, my money increased and I started to prefer high odds.
That means our choices can change as times change.
Maybe we choose low odds today, but tomorrow we can choose high odds.
There are also types of people who will choose low odds for a few days or weeks or even a month and in the following month, they choose high odds.
But that will not change their winning percentage because their luck level will again determine it.
In my opinion, high or low odds will be the same because the difference is the level of our luck every day.

Low odds seems safer for me especially when big teams play although surprises are part of the game but most of the times low odds tends to favor more. High odds seldomly guarantee wins. I increase my stakes on low odds and keep my greed appetite in check. This low odds isn't loss free but it is more safer than high odds with tempting ROI

If you are betting and the first thing you will consider before booking a bet is the odd. The higher the odd for a recognize club the chances of the lower odd to defeat the higher odds.

Theirs a way i make my game or predict my match by myself, it goes this way, if clubs i know very well and watch their match consistently is playing and the odd given to them is highe, and a lower odd is given to their counterpart, and i have watched and studies both clubs method of games, if the one of higher odd play more better because of their new players and their previous performance, i will choose the higher odd knowing they will win.

While odds matter, I don't think it is the most important thing to consider. I don't bet on sports by just looking at the odds. I look at how a certain team or player could perform and probably defeat the opponent. That's regardless of the odds. Although the moment I place the bet, I'd also be affected if my choice is a huge underdog. I might reconsider my bet at times. That also happens when my choice is a big favorite. I might not go for ML. I'd rather look for attractive handicap bets. But I don't really make odds the primary consideration.
But have you bet on low odds before, a kind of match people will think it is 100% that a certain team would win, but no match has 100% probability that the strong or the better team would win, it can be drawn or it might be lost, but the probability the match will not favour is very low but can be the what would happen. I too do consider low odds before, I have even gone for 1.02 odds several times before in the past on in-play matches and 1.05 on some prematch staking, but with the look of things and the experience I have, I have changed my mind to only consider high odds, a bet having at least, 1.5 odds.

I think you have not finished this, you were using low odds, you were winning, but when you are using high odds, what then happened? Still wining or now losing?

In sports higher odds are more interesting if you are able to pick an underdog you know is in winning conditions. As an example we could observe the national teams which are the favorite ones, but aren't performing well recently, like England and France. Those who bet on Hungary and Croatia against each of them, respectively, made a decent profit. That was somehow predictable taking in consideration the weak gameplay of both soccer titans on their last games.

But at casino games, I think there isn't a general rule for what kind of odds are the best ones. In fact, it doesn't matter at all, since you are going to lose on long run by picking high or low odds anyway. You have to create your own strategies to apply to your gameplay to conclude which of them fits your game style.

It depends on the situation and my mood during that game. I can go low odds or high odds depending on what I looked at the situation. But one thing is for sure, I never take low odds mostly below 1.4 odds. That was too small for risking my money and not worth it based on my own experience.

I usually go between 1.8 to 2.3 odds. That was a fair odds to me between high and low. I can only go higher odds if I think that was worth the risk to do. I better risk my money for high odds compared to choosing a 1.2 odds.

There are no specific odds that I want to test on always but that's my preferred odds, 1.8 to 2.3.

I've always been a low-staker, from the time I played martingale with 10 satoshis to today when I bet no more than $10 on a sports game.
I've always liked having more chances to play without risking all the value I have in a few bets, adrenaline is not something I enjoy in games of chance.
I prefer to be in control of my bets and be able to stop when I realize I'm having a bad day without clearing my balance in a few moves
^ For the safe gambling low odds taker is the safest way in gambling.
Low odds for me seem low risk, it also means low odds you can make more bets on it and enjoy the moment while you gamble.
But I have a friend who prefers to gamble with high odds because he said, it is good if you will place a bet a high odds because it is possible that has a high return no matter if it is a high risk, but I cannot take that high risk in my own opinion.

I have lost several times in a row betting on high odds and after the experience I try to minimize my risks, so I prefer low odds as low odds are placed on the favorites of the match. Of course even in this case no one guarantees a hundred percent victory, but the probability of it is higher than betting on the outsider with higher odds.

Well from their names alone, high odds have higher chances of yielding a loss; while low odds may be relatively high when it comes to realizing profits but this depends purely on the gambler.

Personally, I prefer low odds since this gives me more leverage and room for error. Though the profit margin in winning with such odds are lower compared to high odds, it is much safer and it still gives me the same adrenaline from winning. But again, this really depends on the preference of the gambler on which to choose as we all have our respective preferences.
