Yeah high price but no volume means you are literally on trouble. Volume means the amount of coins being traded, that is being bought or sold. Mostly, dead coins aka shit coins have no volume in the long run. Even if the price is high, you will have trouble selling the coins since there is no "volume", that is no one is willing to buy or sell. Again, if a coin has no volume in most of the exchange, the price will tend to fall and then eventually die, since people will try to sell it off cheaper.

Either ways its better to always make sure that the coon you want to hut has good liquidity on exchanges, its all down to which exchange the token or coin is listed on, stay way from coins that are listed on low exchanges only

If we hold tokens that don't have volume then it would be nice if we continue to monitor the development of tokens if it is still feasible for us to hold for the long term or even if we release them and leave the tokens, but if the tokens are very slow in its development, then it would be better if we leave the token because the risk will be very large.
This is true, instead of thinking of the negatives let's make the most out of what is in the plate for us. Most of us here in the bitcoin world have some form of knowledge in the basics of trading and economics but it will be better if we can get more help, study the market, formulate strategies. If the token we are really holding on is hopeless, then we might really need to look for another token to invest on, one that has a better chance at trading.
If you think studying will increase the chance of making more money for the greedy investors, you make a big mistake here. The scammers don't use the lack of knowledge, they use the emotions of the victim. In your opinion, the suggested analogy is not suitable after many years, years taught me a lot of things since 2010.

It's back to square one if you are holding a coin or token for long term and finally altcoin season comes and the token or coin surge in value but has no trading volume on exchange, all your efforts and pain while holding is total waste, do not hold tokens or coins that have no demands, real use cases are what makes them very demanding

I agree. It was really awful that whenever the price of token was already on its peak or have risen after a long term dump, there is no existing volume trade in the exchange you wish to trade the token you have hold for a period of time. Cases might be because people already loose interest into the coin due to the reason that maybe they do not find any relevance anymore to trade into that coin that is why there is no trading value. Maybe also the sudden rise is not already accessible or suitable for the potential buyers when the price have increased into the desirable price. It is really painful that it seems all the patience you have exerted for holding has been nonsense because of not trading volume although the price is already that high enough to be traded into an exchange. So better sort out those tokens that are still into demand despite of price downfall because it define as a good or worthy token to be held on for a long period of time. Potential on rising also depends on the demand of the token so if you are up into holding, better choose those coins that are good for long term holding and have keep up a circulating demand volume despite of any situation so that when time comes that the price increases, your long term wait will be worth it once the token has been traded because indeed useful tokens are really up into demand not just for its price.

i agree the coin with no demand or real use case is not really a good to hold
price can drop at any time if the supply will not match the demand.

Unfortunately, volume can also been easily manipulated by exchangers. It is easier for some to invest and earn from more popular cryptocurrencies since they wouldn't be gone so easily. Newer altcoins found it difficult to compete of course unless they can make impact in the industry.

A total waste. That is why I don't wanna hold a coin with uncertainty although everything has to be but atleast I wanna hold it with few doubts about it. And besides I am not holding coin for very long time I set a specific time range where I need to atleast sell some of it, quite risky but atleast I got the chance to disposed them before it came to be a total waste.

I'm a lament didn't sell several tokens at the end of 2017 because I believe that the token that I hold will pump. This is a lesson for me if one day the price of a token or altcoin season will return again, I will immediately sell everything and will invest in bitcoin even though it's late.

There is no guarantee for that. Because during the last few days, I did my bit of research about those cryptocurrencies which came in to existence during 2013-14 period. Surprisingly, more than 90% of these coins are no longer active. There is zero mining/trading activity going on with these coins. I believe that the same will repeat with the coins that came to existence during 2017-18.

Volume is a fact in crypto because anyone can manipulate the price but a higher trading volume, you can't manipulate it easily! There have many coins that have a low volume but the price is damn high! I saw a coin that's price increased by 1400%, so, I was curious to see its exchanges and then I realize these are shitcoins, nothing else! because that coin has only 322$ trading volume!

but it also does not make sense if the price is high but does not have volume, at least the price will go down before the volume decreases to very little.
how it might be high prices but lack volume, sounds a little strange to me.
it usually happens to coins or tokens that are newly registered in the exchange and have not yet been traded. or coins or tokens are still locked and only tested by high-priced teams. I saw some new tokens like that and when the trade opened the price could immediately fall.

I think you'd better stay out of that coin because there were some sort of manipulation in that. We never know if that is a whale trap or something that made the price like that but no volume at all or prolly the coin is not that active at all. Better to stay out of it.

don't regret it, you will feel pain if it's like that, just enjoy life, I'm sure if you hold your altcoin one day someday going back to ATH,
or maybe trading your coins is the right decision

Don't worry mate, you are not alone, for sure most of us here hold our tokens during that year wishing that the year 2018 will be greater than the year 2017, but what happened was reversed.

Yes, at the moment, whenever I am getting tokens from airdrops or bounties, once it has value, I am already selling it, also when I am doing trading, I don't hold longer.
But if the project completed their sale and they distributed the coins and the coin is listed on exchanges that what is the thing for which you have worry as if listed on exchange then it will reach to its high value when the market will be all green. If you are not holding and selling because of the previous two years market then you are wrong because it do not mean that the market will be bad for lifetime. Some bad times come but again the market get its high position we have to wait for that good time.

Most of the investors already invested in the crypto market and don't have more funds to buy new crypto due to everyone holding altcoins. That's the reason for not increasing the volume of altcoins, so I hope now the prices of every altcoin will be surge and will be more this year.

The intended coin clearly will never have volume because the developer as the biggest holder is also waiting to sell it all without a buyback clause, if from the start their plan has failed by prioritizing distribution offers that are too large without looking at other aspects that attract market movements, then the coin will deadlocked, of course would be very detrimental to all parties who hold it.

Sounds like Ripple (XRP) and a lot of other alts to be honest, where the developers and the owners have the far biggest share of total circulation. Something that always bugs me big time but for some reason doesn't seem to make their supporters worry at all.

All these coins clearly demonstrate the big weakness of centralization but people still happily throw their faith and money into them. Crypto right?
