Would love to stake but I has no HBN and can't find it on an exchange. Are there any out there trading HBN? If not, how can we get our hands on some?

HBN is available on Cryptopia:
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange/?market=HBN_BTC

Thanks buddy, missed that one apparently

Is there no faucet? A proof of stake without a faucet is like a uhmmm...

HoboNickels is a great project. If we fall into a crypto dystopia I promise I will tip the poor souls sleeping in the streets a few HoboNickels.

Once again I call for soft fork segwit .. which is a prerequisite of lighting network - where in fact cross currency transfer will be enabled. This really is a futute of crypto and small altcions will benefit a lot

May the force bit with you.
My only hope, Tranz, is that we will never get to the NVC situation, where the POS difficulty is so high (currently 5.3), that my 100 NVC stake with maximum coin age just can't make a PoS, even though it says 22% probability in 7 days :/

Z0rr0 yes agreed. But with our 30sec block time, that will never happen.

Speaking of NVC, do you have a block count vs memory usage handy?
Ok, if i understood correctly, NVC client (v0.5.8.) currently have 344056 blocks and uses 0.1% CPU and 143.7 MB memory.

Thanks, so the ratio is about the same, 2k per block.

I thought HBN was dead, but with recent events, I'm starting to think there could be a resurgence.

Considering rebuilding my wallet.  Is there a valid bootstrap out there to DL?

I was thinking the same about TEK coins, but I'm thinking it might dead beyond resurrection.  What is Thundertoe doing these days?

A developer does not a coin make. The network has been strong without me. The trading has been good without me. But yes you should get your wallet up and running!  Few posts back HCLives has posted Bootstraps.

Way off... Hard Forks take much discussion, coding and planning. And will be one of the last things I do for version 1.6. Plus months lead time.

~2% stake every 10 days!
100% yearly degrading over difficultly.
250 Max PoS Reward

I am still confused about the 250 Max Pos Reward

Lets say if i hold 100,000 HBN, 2% every 10 days which would end up with 2,000 HBN

but i will only get 250 HBN after 10 days?

If you have just one  block of 100k your assumtion applies. But if you have 20 5k blocks you would get 20 times 100hbn stakes after 10 days  in ideal conditions with staking luck

Putting the finishing touches on upgrading to Level DB 1.19 https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels

Doing some testing for a few day before calling it complete.  It seems to be pretty good so far, but I want to be sure it operates correctly, because once you move to it, you can go back without a reindex or putting an old copy back in place.

I'll post an executable after I feel it is safe enough.

What effect would be created by increasing the minimum required coins to stake?

Changing the minimum coin age would put more coins out there available for stake.  This would increase the net stake weight, which would increase the PoS difficulty, which would lower the Annual Stake Percentage, which would help keep inflation from running away.  At least that's my theory.

Yeah. Sorry, I guess I wasn't super clear. I was saying rather than raising block target, what if instead the minimum number of coins to create stake was raised? Possibly raise it to 1000hbn, which is approxiamtely $5 right now.
It seems like it could help alleviate a lot of the issues that are occurring including the CPU/memory reqs as smaller claims could be effectively ignored by the wallet, and would also force what PoS was originally intended for, which was allow for people with significant investment in the chain to have a majority.

I want more people staking now less.

... Imagine if $5 got you a vote in what microsoft did next?...

If Microsoft wants my opinion I will charge at least $10. For $5 they can speak to my assistant.

A lot of newcomers to crypto soon call $5 a lot of money.

And that kind of strengthens my argument. Imagine if $5 got you a vote in what microsoft did next? People would be lining up around the block to get a piece
