i think it's not that simple, you can hodl the wrong coin and won't see a penny profit, it's important that you know when and which to hold, or sell
two of the choice have chance to be regret.
if you hold and than the price can be better than the first time it release you will regret, and when you sell but for some weeks or months the price is better than you sold, you will regret. so, what choice you made, never regret.

Some times holding Can cause issue for the holder which sell immediately is the best option. But with the current market situation holding is the best as whoever that refuse to hold will surely regret it.
There are times when we see the coin mooning and after that lament that in the event that we simply hold the coin longer then we would have a greater benefit yet then simply think when you sold the coin and after that the coin dump so you will be appreciative that you sold the coin. Try not to harp excessively on the cost getting pump and you were not ready to get the pump on the grounds that there are still such a large number of chances. Simply believe that you gain from that exchange and proceed onward.
I think after investing in any coin or you got them from airdrops or bounties, I believe the best thing is to wait for some time before selling. Anyone who sells in a haste will regret later based on your experience. And besides, the market right now is not favorable for anyone to sell, just hold
I'm really disappointed with myself now because of Verge. Way back June 2017, I bought $200 worth of XVG and I sold it last week a day before the pump happened. It could be worth more than $5k now if I just HODL. 
Well, I need to move on and learn from this mistakes. This will be a lesson for me to have patience and wait for the right time to sell my coins. The reason why I sold it was because I need more funds to buy another coin. I'm happy with the coin I bought because I can now see that it is now starting to pump. Maybe, I'm just half disappointed every time I'm seeing the current value of Verge. I bought some XVG again and will surely hold it this time. 
I hope that this experience of mine can be a good example for everyone especially the newbies in this community.
Ever since I joined the crypto world, one basic thing I also learnt is how to hodl your coins. The more you hold the more the profit, but this doesn't really apply to all coins. Off course i prefer to hold over than to have a big regrets, i am confident that all people should not panic and just hold there coins and wait until the market will be green and i know it can happen next month so keep holding and dont ever sell now.
Especially in these bear markets, it is important to remind people that the best option is to make hodl, the best quality that investors have is patience, with that quality you can take care of your investment and remember that only those who stay end up making profits.

Well, I think it also depends on what coin or token you are holding as some have already lost their luster and can soon be entering into their own oblivion or natural death Holding is good with top cryptocurrencies and maybe selected tokens but in my experience hodling on to many alts can be disastrous. Trading remains to be the most profitable thing to do in the world of cryptocurrency but then again this can also be risky and if one is not prepared or suited to this whole thing then it can also be disastrous. As of now, am only holding to my Bitcoin, Ethereum, BitcoinCash and some selected alts (GVT, CVC, WPR) which in my analysis can be worth the wait. Good luck to all of us then.
That's why I normally just hold and don't bother to trade or anything, would drive me mad otherwise. Holding is obviously better unless you really know how to judge the prices.
regrets is always there, I also always feel regrets when I had to HODL, because if not I lose a lot of money, so the choice is better HODL. I try to be optimistic in the end the prices will increase in the next year.
I think its always like that. But you never know what will happen tomorrow so don't be upset friend. If you are still upset of course. I mean almost a year has passed.

Last year, for those who kept coins all year, they got a good profit, it happened in December. Therefore, it was right to sell then, you can now buy it again. This year all the holders are involuntary.
Is it because you sell to early or you start late here? If it is because you sell early, i think its normal for most of people here. Everyone might sell too early when they first got their coins.
Most time it is good to hold an most time it is not good to hold, holding is good when the market is in a bull run, if such a time like this, you are holding, you will even regret the more because you will see your asset keep going down.
One of the best strategy of investment is holding. Safe and secure.
