Their friendship is beautiful, after all, what is friendship if the interests of those you call friends are not considered when taking group decisions. The guy in question is strong in character, being honest with yourself is one of the most challenging thing to do. Some people bow to peer pressure even when they know quite alright that its killing them. I think what made his decision stand strong is his asking his friends not to play in front of him, you cannot be trying to stop a habit and still be in an environment where exists, you need to cut  all ties to it and that's what he did to stay dedicated to his resolve.

Gambling is not for everybody and if you see yourself uncomfortable with the outcomes of your gambling activities, I think you need to curb your involvements or quit totally like the guy mentioned above. The friends are  also wonderful that they helped their friend preserve his decision. They are the real MVPs

Peer pressure is something that can normalize gambling in one's life a lot more than if one was to start gambling on his own.

For instance, I know a friend of mine who was watching a lot of gaming streamers growing up, he was a bit of a lonely guy, but as these streamers realized that there's a lot of money to be made from gambling streaming of course they started dedicating more and more of their content to this type of games.

So the issue here is that so long as my friend was watching a stranger gamble, he was of course interested in the content but not so much on putting a lot of money towards gambling himself. When he however went to parties of his friends group and saw them putting hundreds of dollars towards slots, he started believing in gambling a lot more. So naturally being a lonely guy and having fully normalized gambling in his money now, he started losing substantial amounts without even telling anyone.

Thankfully after a while he admitted to it and asked his friends to stop playing in front of him. The good ending here is that they switched to playing board games other than gambling in their get togethers. All for their friend. Quite admirable. 

Indeed, being with friends allows us not to feel emotionally independent and not to struggle so strongly with losing, there is so much empathy here and a group of friends will help us develop more fun in gambling, it will include a lot of stories and discussions about the match, instead of a bitterness and reflection on a victory that was hard to come by. In addition, because of the distractions created by friends as well as the level of not being too serious, the loss rate and money lost are also reduced, sometimes just a few drinks between friends, a good way to restrain yourself in gambling

Betting alone creates more thinking because there is no input or advice so you really bet according to your own intuition, in the end when you lose you have no entertainment. However, it's a different story if you bet with friends, win or lose, it feels like we are not alone, there is a kind of encouragement to provide support to each other. Therefore, betting with friends is quite fun, even when we lose we can still laugh about the loss, or when we win we can share with friends who have lost. 2 conditions that really affect our mentality when betting, and honestly I prefer to do it with friends rather than alone.

Definitely that's the mindset of a responsible gambler. Some may blame gambling for losing unable to accept their wrong actions, so they continue making the same mistakes over and over again. We understand the risk, we take it, so we know that there's a possibility that we will lose money, so that's fine because it will never put us at a high risk if we are responsible.

I would like to express the banal opinion that when it comes to gambling or trading, I realize that the responsibility for my decisions lies solely with me. And only on me. I don't understand those who share advice. Asking friends for advice on this issue can be dangerous, as it can negatively affect our relationship.
I understand that everyone should be responsible for their actions, and therefore I try to make my own decisions without shifting responsibility to others. I remember that friendship is more important than money, and therefore I prefer not to ask friends for advice in gambling in order to avoid possible conflicts and keep our relationship pure.

Who is to blame if you gamble with the money you can't afford to lose and still lose it? You, of course, that is why I do not pity those who are in this category, they brought the issue upon themselves out of their lack of wisdom. If they are wise, they would have to weigh the risk and the outcome well to know if they should proceed before ending in it. And if they proceed and lose, they should blame themselves.

Also, for me, I see no difference between gambling alone and with friends when it comes to feelings, it is my money, so I feel the same when I lose or gain. But one thing I can't trade for anything is my privacy. I like to do my things my way and mostly private, especially if that thing has to do with risk-taking. I've seen a friend blaming his fellow friend for his loss because he changed his prediction just because his friend predicted differently. This is one of the many I like to avoid in this regard.

Fine, a friends may contact me for my predictions, I can give him on a friendship level, but for us to be deliberating on which team to choose or not choose, I don't do that. It can cause more confusions especially if the friends are such that feels perfect and knows better. They may confuse you, and if you are such that can't be confused, they may just start unnecessary argument that is annoying. Why not do your thing yourself when you have all it takes?

The positive aspect of betting with friends is that we will be in a situation that is quite lively because of the togetherness where maybe the atmosphere of fun with friends can be a little bit to heal our hearts when we lose or it can also be to minimize the tension in running bets and I am sure that quite a lot of gamblers prefer to gamble with their friends whether it is in the type of physical gambling or online, as I do which I also like you more often gamble with my friends.

The exchange of opinions is common in situations when you gamble with your friend where there is always a difference of opinion between you and your friend in terms of making a decision before betting and sometimes it is quite confusing between we should bet using our own feelings and opinions or follow something that is suggested by our friend, and in my opinion even so, in the end, your opinion or your friend's opinion is still unknown about the truth, or the point is that we can't be sure that the results at the end of the session will really be able to bring us to victory unless we have completed the gambling session because everything will be clear when you have completed the game, so for me and what I do is that I better bet with my own feelings and opinions regardless of the results later.

I always gamble with my best friend. Having the same bet with them can have both positive and negative aspects. Positive in a way that you'll feel comfortable and supported, especially when losing, just laughing it off. And negative in a way that there will be times that the two of you will have differences in opinion and strategies. It creates pressure on confirming the final decision of the bet. Although, sometimes, listening to them can always get insights that they have a point.

Yea but not a collective games of different people because I don like playing gamble in a situation I will be having double thoughts. I have seen several people who brings there opinions on prediction and later comes back that the game played was not predicted properly all because he was not convinced if the game will play. Instead he will choose to play another game from another person there by disorganising the already predicts match. and people get confused and play differently. Because of that reason I have decided to either play on my own prediction or just play a game predicted by someone making it 2 different ticket rather than combining different predictions from people. Because definately they will make you confuse.

Yeah I suppose you are correct, because I can remember this one very scene when I wanted to try something stupid when I was out with the boys and immediately some of my friends had to tell me to actually think twice before doing it and they all supported and stopped me and they did this owing to the past gambler I used to be, thinking I wouldn't flinch before I took the risk but they never knew I have changed but on still with friends so many gambling errors can be provided and I suppose the money you would use when together something that any gambler can lose and like you said no chase of lose because of the fun you are having together.

What am about to say applies more to those in the lower and middle class very often. Most times when you find those within this social status gambling more than they can afford to loss, it’s probably because they’ve got plans of what they could do with the win money and as such, they’ve taken a step to go for less risk but more stakes. This would be some means to bring themselves closer to winning but in reality, the game could always play either ways.
In the event of a loss, you could imagine just how broken such individuals would be. More frustrated than you came. A lot of people have found themselves in a suicidal position with that. Loosing is never easy to get used to or suck up and as such, you need some know how at the game to leverage for your advantage.

This is actually okay. Knowing that someone came up with the same decision as you might help you to become a better gambler. You have someone to discuss your losses and your wins, and might also come up with a strategy that will benefit all of you.

Betting groups are okay only if the people in the group are positive in this venture. They are not detrimental to your financial decisions and they also tell you when to stop or when to go. These are the type of friends you want in a betting group, as you develop your gambling skills but not turn out as a degenerate at the end of the day.

In my opinion this depends on the game the person is playing, for example a person who makes sports bets, in my case I prefer to do my analyzes and bets alone. but I have seen that here in my neighborhood there are many people who have been betting on sports and that they sit and talk a lot to each other when they are analyzing the games and from what I can see they share a lot of ideas about the teams that bet on them, perhaps that be of great help to them because with many people thinking it may be easier to analyze the games and be able to obtain good results. As I'm not friends with them, I don't know if they have had good results with this system. but they have been doing this for a long time

so I suppose as they have been doing this for a long time then they are somehow making a profit, if they weren't making a profit then they would have given up by now. There are people who do not have a strong mind, they do not have a mind capable of enduring many problems without becoming mentally exhausted, so they need help from other people to be able to deal with many problems they have. So in the case of these people, it is important that they play with very responsible people who will be able to give them good advice and will not let them get on the path to addiction.

About acceptance of losses, I'm okay with it already and I am no longer being affected of it a lot but it still depends on how much I am losing but typically, they're not a lot.

I agree, you are with them when you win and when you loss. So, the frustration that you'll feel when you lose your bets.

You are right. Losses will become a less burden if we experience it together with friends. Most especially if you have some funny friends, instead of getting depressed of your losses, everything will end up as a laughing stock and just enjoy the company and eventually forget about the losses.

I think that’s the benefit having friends around while betting. You are not alone at your worst losses, simply because everyone has fair share of losses. Until you all end up forgetting about it since losses are actually expected in all types of bets. But, it’s still a good thing if you win more than losing more.

I also get that similar feeling when I hop on to a sports betting group and sometimes on the live casino tables chatting with other gamblers while playing. I feel less bad about my losses knowing others had the same bet and maybe risked bigger units too.

When you're together with your friends or a group of gamblers, the experience becomes different because our focus suddenly shifts towards having fun while the wins are only a bonus.

Yes and that's a normal feeling when we gamble and then we lose. We don't want to celebrate but instead we feel depressed, disappointed and devastated because we've just lost and that's about our emotion when the plan didn't go accordingly as we gamble.

Maybe you'll enjoy more if you're with your friends because it's not going to be all about gambling but all about the get together and bonding that you'll be having with your friends. That's the reason why many want to gamble with their friends because about the talks, discussions and bond that they've missed all along. So, if this is going to be a fun thing you should gamble with your friends and that's all about having fun because when money is involved, you'd be disappointed and this bonding might be destroyed by it.

Whether gambling alone or with my friends, that should have no big difference, at least in my own experience.

If you can't handle the loss that much, it's good to practice that behavior from now on without involving your friends. In gambling, a feeling like that is just a distraction since if you are being affected when losing, to the point, you feel much more comfortable if it's not just you lose but also your friends, might affect your ability to decide what's the best pick since you are a bit afraid or worried that you might not hit the right prediction.
