Underestimate- nothing
To help beginner gamblers avoid addiction:

1. Education: Provide comprehensive information about the risks and realities of gambling, including the potential for addiction.

people's minds are fixed on money, especially those who are gambling, and some of them will not even listen to you when you want advice they will tell you what your business is, but for those who will listen, there is a lot of risks when it comes to gambling, and the potential of even get addicted can ruin anyone so like they say let those who have ear listen to the dangers of getting to deep is to risky.

Quote

2. Set Limits: Encourage setting strict limits on time and money spent on gambling activities.

and that is what kills a lot of us we do not have a budget for what we can afford to lose aside from that, setting limits means you place a bet beyond, and no one will call you an addict if the right measures are taken because I will call, limit measure, gambling can make you spend all your money, you will even spend and even borrow because people that gamble are use to borrow especially when they get addicted.

Quote

3. Responsible Gambling Tools: Promote the use of responsible gambling tools such as self-exclusion programs, deposit limits, and reality checks.
just have a budget for what you are gambling because it is a tool and when you don't cross your monthly budget then you are gambling safely that is the challenge some people are facing they don't have a budget and they don't even care to have one, don't believe what can not happen, people that gamble a lot can make all manner of planning on there potential win and that is why they are always wanting to gamble more.

Quote

4. Support Systems: Offer access to support groups, counselling services, and helplines for those struggling with gambling addiction.
if you notice you are going out of control then talk to people about your condition or seek help from a therapist and counseling service as suggested it will help from becoming an addict because if you keep it to your self then you will continue to be a slave to it because every addict needs help they always can not help them self, once they start attending therapy section they feel better and will become more responsible.

Quote

5. Encourage Balance: Emphasize the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle with diverse interests and activities beyond gambling.
keeping yourself busy will help also hang out with people and avoid those that gamble because most times when you are close to those that are gambling you might also want to gamble and that is one of the reasons you choose who you move with at that particular time.

Nothing lasts forever
I remeber there was a post made few months ago on how people got started with gambling.
Most people started at a very young age, as teenagers mostly.
So if we sum up all those root causes on how various people got started with gambling then we will get a better understanding of how people get started with gambling.
Then we will be able to set better guidelines for newbies on what to avoid so that they don't get addicted to gambling.

I agree. Like what others say, like segs education, there should be a gambling education as well. So, people will gain some insights about the potential pros and cons of gambling before engaging into it. Having knowledge before engaging is much better than engaging with something that you are unaware of and what are the potential risks are kinda risky.

exactly! It should be included in the additional subjects and curriculum in the students' studies, especially now that there is an increase in scattered gambling activities and advertisements on social media, we are aware that today's youth are curious about things and they love to explore especially if they have no idea about what they know, so I also suggest that in the future this kind of curriculum can be added to the students' studies.we will always remember that it is better to know something about the things around us, be alert wven in the smallest things  to keep yourself away from harm.
The curriculum always includes concepts and also causes to avoid when dealing with gambling, although not too much and throughout the curriculum but students at all levels are reminded of addictions as well as risks affecting the learning process when participating in gambling. Surprisingly, prohibitions do not improve addiction levels among students; young people are probably very curious about what is labeled dangerous, to prevent newcomers and students from becoming passionate about this subject, they need more practical evidence and guidance, instead of just a bunch of philosophy.

Like in the OP's case, I already knew the basics of gambling before engaging in these activities, which is key to make informed and reasonable decisions. Some people simply thinks that gambling is a good way of getting easy money, but the truth is that the design of the games and the lack of self-control when it comes to our feelings and emotions makes it even harder not only to win but also don't lose your initial capital.

The best way to help newcomers, IMO, is sharing valuable information about how gambling works in reality and what they can expect from it. If they manage the expectations properly, i think that it is more difficult for them to fall in an addiction.

I doubt that beginners, before starting to gamble, will ask anyone for advice on how dangerous it is or how profitable it is. Nobody even wants to know about it, and then everyone gets experience and finds out that it is impossible to beat the casino. And even if someone collects enough information before playing to know their chances of winning, there will be those who want to check everything from their own experience.
This is how it happens, I remember how it happened for me. Before I started playing I learned all the rules of poker and a lot more, but when I started playing I played with discipline. Gradually and imperceptibly, I began to make various mistakes due to small losses, after they accumulated I was unsettled and I began to do all sorts of nonsense. I think this scenario happens to many beginners and no theory or advice will teach a beginner until he understands this with his own head. Moreover, the player begins to listen to advice better after long hours of play, but what surprises me is that some players even after that do not want to listen to anything and learn.

People gamble to quench their thirst of making money, eventually they lose more and the by product is that they are addicted to gambling. With bitcoin the access to gambling and more so online gambling has been easy and thus potential gamblers are coming up to addicted gambling much earlier than expected.

Of course it is dangerous, but the enthusiasm to make money is often high and that clouds their reasoning. Added to this is some influencer who is spamming their referral link with promises of free money, those people are like the wolves who lead the lambs to death.

We can only make people aware of the good and bad of gambling and nothing more than that. It is not our job to correct their mistakes.

Beginners means those who are still new so the best or the most effective way to help them to avoid addiction is to stop them immediatelly Smiley
Maybe you can give them many suggestions/advices when they are still new, but in the process your suggestions might be forgotten.

I think majority of people who are addicted to gambling is because they do not understand gambling as beginners, the rules and the side effects of playing gambling excessively.
Even if some people knows about all those things, it is not a guarantee that they will not be addicted later because addiction started with wrong mindset, emotion, and self control.
Knowledge is important, it may help a bit but it will be useless in the process if people lose their own mindset, self control, and emotion.

Getting addicted in gambling is not only for beginners but at all stages. And what lead to gambling addiction is your mindset and greedy. You are not satisfied with what you have won but always want to win big. And also the mindset of winning the lost bets always is an another thing that making them to become and addicted gamblers. I don't think understanding is part of it but probably. But the major thing is the mindset and if the gambler can control his mind then the addiction is also control. Many people don't even when they are in the gambling addiction because at that time they are in the motion to the higher wins.
Someone that can't be satisfied with what they have can always ends up getting addicted when he/she gamblers, gamble is not a method of making money or putting your emotions. Although if you wish to gamble for fun. Using our emotions to gamble is bad because whenever we lose our emotions wouldn't allow us to quit so some starts chasing their loses and all those things are what cause more losses while gambling.

To me casinos are trying their best in making sure people gamble responsibly with their bet responsibly campaign promotion and limit access to their sites for +18 years despite there's no strict measures put in place to ensure compliance with this age limit.
However, the reality is that those aged 18+ still don't have mature thinking. and even at that age, still attending school and not yet financially independent.
If that's the case, he definitely won't be able to take full responsibility for what he has done.

It's most appropriate if you are over 25 years old and financially independent, so you must be psychologically mature enough to be able to accept the reality if you lose at gambling.

Is that really the solution to help beginners avoid gambling addiction?
We have seen the statement after each gambling advertisement to "gamble responsibly". I really think that should be enough if all the people understand the risk that is included in it.
The same goes with alcoholic drinks, it says, "drink responsibly" and yet we still see a lot of alcoholics in this time and era. Even if gambling companies educate the gamblers, it's on them whether they will choose to gamble responsibly or not. There will be emotions that are difficult to control and one of them is being greedy which could turn to addiction too.
Let us also consider how much budget it will be to educate everyone in the world about it. They input a lot of help to make us controllable and some examples are:
Responsible Gambling - Self exclusion - https://stake.games/responsible-gambling/exclusion
Self assessment - https://stake.games/responsible-gambling/Self-Assessment
Limiting your gambling habit - https://stake.games/responsible-gambling/gambling-limits

The reason why I'm not addicted to gambling is because even before I started to play gambling I already understand gambling and its addiction, and my understanding has helped me on how to follow up gambling. Sometimes I ask myself why do people get addicted to gambling, is it because they have no understanding or awareness about the addiction of gamble.

I don't think it's all about understanding. Majority of us gamblers both addicted and normal gamblers understand gambling systems quite well. If not all, more than eighty percent of gamblers understand the system. The problem with those who are addicted is their inability to control themselves from greediness. Every addicted gambler is someone who is aiming to win big or probably someone who is chasing their loses. The only possible way to help beginners from becoming gambling addict is to inform them to gamble responsibly. However, self control has important role to play here because you can not help someone with poor self control attitude. To me casinos are trying their best in making sure people gamble responsibly with their bet responsibly campaign promotion and limit access to their sites for +18 years despite there's no strict measures put in place to ensure compliance with this age limit. We can not just expect casinos to conduct extensive seminars with their own money that will eventually affect their businesses.

My advices for beginners not to get gambling addiction starts from changing overall vision about gambling from money source to just another way of entertainment. Beginners should not try to earn with gambling. And it must be additional, alternative method to get entertained. Not main or only one. Second advice would be to lower expectation from gambling. From the start beginners should not focus on that every bet will be a win, with every bet they will win a lot, it is easy to win, they are exceptional and casinos always want to cheat or scam them.

You are right, many people may not realize the potential dangers of gambling when they start gambling, especially beginners, that's why understanding the risk, education, and awareness are key to reducing gambling addiction. Gambling companies should always prioritize responsible gambling, player's well-being and take proactive steps to address the issue of addiction.

Yes, that's right, the thing that makes them addicted to gambling is because they have the wrong mindset towards gambling, they think gambling is a means that can make money for sure, with that they will only think about winning, it's unlikely they will think about the risks losses such as defeat or loss of money at stake. When the gambling they do ends up losing, they don't stop there and they don't mind it, they will think about gambling again to chase their winnings.

As time goes by, maybe the occasional gambling will produce wins, but when that happens, greed will emerge and make them lose self-control and make gambling even more chaotic. Including when you win, maybe when you win at gambling, thoughts will arise that lead to bigger wins, and that's where greed will occur. But who would have thought that greed would bring profit, of course anything in excess is not good, including gambling.

Addicted gamblers damage the business of casinos as they give them a bad image, that being said I do not think we can do anything to reduce the number of people that get addicted, for what I read on your post, you want to increase the awareness about the risks associated with gambling, but those are widely known already, anyone that wants to know those risks has to do nothing else but to do a quick internet search and they will know everything there is to know about gambling addiction, so even if we were to try to help in that regard, I do not see this happening.

I totally agree to what you are actually saying, because I think it's very difficult for an individual to get addicted if he actually knows what gambling really entails,  because even as a gambler that I am now, I have a limit that I do not cross no matter what.

But as for the case for a beginner, it's very difficult to control them or  convince them not to gambles much because at that starting point, they just want to explore, and at that time, nothing really goes through their head, till they have actually hit a rock, that's when they will be willing to hear, if they haven't gotten addicted already.

So I think the best thing to tell a beginner gamblers to stay off, is to tell them to try their possible best not to gambles what they can't afford to lose, because that have always been the problem of most gamblers, so if they can stick to gambling what they can afford to lose, then I really don't think they will get addicted, because gambling only what you can afford to lose as an individual is a very good self control on display already, so getting addicted is out of the equation if they can do that
