I think I heard about it in the news, and then watching some documentary about MtGox blowing up.

Watching it in the news is hilarious, kind of like the "what is Internet?" news clip.

One of my friend introduce to me the bitcoin, the first time i heard about this is i thought bitcoin is just a scam so i didnt start that time, and until i saw some good news about bitcoin and finally im here making money of money.

i am thinking the same like you but fortunately, after my friend telling me about bitcoin, i am directly searching on internet to know what is bitcoin and i found out that bitcoin is one of many source to make money. so i decide to search more info and how to earn bitcoin and finally i can start earning bitcoin in my first time.
Internet is the best source of gathering information, and also any sort of information. It is good to do your homework. Doing research by your own will enrich your knowledge more than any other way. If you have not yet started to earn digital gold, how about joining related face book groups and participating in some signature campaigns.

I first discovered the existence of bitcoin back in 2011 after reading an article on a site called LewRockwell.com that was discussing the problems with the Federal Reserve system, quantitative easing, the national debt, etc. Buried in the middle of a paragraph it was mentioned in passing that there was a new currency called bitcoin that could get around the problems with a centralized fiat currency and could perhaps even compete with the dollar someday. I noticed that the word "bitcoin" in the sentence was actually a hyperlink, so out of curiosity I clicked on it...as it turns out I have never been so glad that I clicked through on a little text link like that in my life!

The link went to a site where the bitcoin client software could be downloaded and installed, and from there I eventually discovered Mt. Gox, the main exchanger for bitcoin at the time, along with some forums and message boards where people were buying and selling this newfangled digital currency. The value of BTC was around 6 cents (0.06 USD) at the time, and I managed to buy 750 BTC for $40 of PayPal funds (this was before PayPal had learned about bitcoin and prohibited private exchanges of this sort). I had bought the BTC mostly to support the libertarian cause and actually hoped that I could spend the digital "coins" on some novelties that I could not find locally, or perhaps be able to buy some silver at a relative discount since bitcoin was not well known at the time and few merchants were actually accepting it. But I couldn't really find anything to buy with the BTC that I was interested in, so I let it go and pretty much forgot about it for while, although I did bookmark the Mt. Gox site.

Several months later I returned to the Mt. Gox site after bitcoin was mentioned in some other article, and much to my amazement the value of BTC had risen to about $5. At this point I decided to take some profits and sell some of the BTC after Mt. Gox began allowing withdrawals through Dwolla, a relatively new payment processor that allowed me to transfer the funds to my bank without charging any fees. I ended up banking about $1300 of profits before Mt. Gox crashed, and I also had about $900 left in my Mt. Gox account, which is currently still tied up in the bankruptcy proceedings.

Unfortunately I became a little overexuberant with trying to increase my remaining BTC holdings by registering on GLBSE, a bitcoin stock exchange that allowed investors to buy stock in various private ventures with BTC and earn profits through regular dividends, or from an increase in the prices of the stocks. As it turns out most of the "companies" on this exchange were little more than Ponzi schemes that were able to take advantage of the increasing value of BTC to pay out dividends to early investors. I ended up investing most of my BTC in some stocks labeled as NYAN.A, NYAN.B, and NYAN.C, and was actually doing rather well with collecting dividends on these when the owner of GLBSE abruptly shut down the site that hosted the stock exchange, apparently worried that the authorities in the UK were closing in on him and would declare that his operation was somehow illegal.

The issuer of the "NYAN" stocks sent some partial repayments to investors after the GLBSE site went down, but it was just a small fraction of the original amount invested. He promised to send out additional repayments after his personal finances improved, but I have not received any messages from him since 2013, so I can only presume at this point that the remaining amount is lost. After all of the Mt. Gox and GLBSE chaos I ended up with about 25 BTC, which seemed like too small of an amount at the time to make much of a difference to me, so I just sat on it and did not even bother with starting up the client software or downloading the blockchain for about the next three years.

Of course we all know what happened next...bitcoin began to get more mainstream attention and the price continued to increase. When it reached about $1000 per BTC I started trying to catch up on the blockchain again and discovered that it was a rather slow process because of the sheer size of the files. At this point I realized that I had a potentially life-changing amount of money building up in BTC, so I started watching the news on it more closely and looked for ways to actually earn money in BTC since its value was still increasing. For the past few months I have been earning some small amounts through faucets, paid-to-click sites, offer walls, and the like but have only been able to add a little over 0.01 BTC to my original amount. Then I rediscovered this forum and have read in other posts that it is possible to earn more significant amounts of BTC through signature campaigns (basically renting out signature space to advertisers as I understand it) after gaining a high enough rank on the forum. Apparently it is also possible to earn BTC by selling various goods or services, and since I am a freelance writer who has actually made money from writing and proofreading articles, perhaps I can make some BTC with this particular service if I can manage to find some offers.

The first time I heard about bitcoin was at a seminar in school. At first all I understand was it was a digital money but nobody believes in it because they think it was a scam that was a few years ago and I guess many of us regret not believing in it on the first place but we already accepted the outcome.
