I don't gamble when I'm too emotional and I just do it whenever I want to feel entertained. Yes, I do gambling as a habit but I don't do it as often as I want. Whenever I have the urge to gamble but it exceeds my budget, I focus on other things to do to keeo myself busy. I always have the proper mindset that gambling will not make me rich just so I will not chase my losses and I will not be greedy. We only have to discipline ourselves mentally and emotionally.

The recommendation is to spend "$100" on a specialist and let him determine if you can control it or not.

Never, but it is that I would never evaluate myself based on the experience of third parties, it is useless.

You can have a comparison but of course, the evaluation should be done by a third party, personal evaluation often ends in a biased result especially when we are in a denial mode.  But of course we can always evaluate ourselves but without anything to compare with, I wonder how can we rate ourselves?

If you don't have control today, you will never have it, it's that simple, don't think about the matter so much, you have to preach the use of specialists-/-consultation in the field Gambling, they are the people who can really help you.

People change and learn, you are just saying that if you don't know a thing, you will never know anything. Which is proven to be wrong.  As I stated people are capable of learning, changing ways, and even changing faces.  But of course, it all depends on the perception of a person.

Regardless of how much I lost, I never chase wins since it will lead to addiction sooner or later. Addicted gamblers can't focus on real life and keep doing same things over and over. After big losses, I usually take a break then do small deposits to try my luck but never go back to the games I have lost previously. Just my 2 cents.

True, addicted players are all gambling in mind.  Their uncontrolled urge to gamble make their mind occupied by gambling thoughts.

Knowing when to stop and when to continue is too important and it takes a lot of self-discipline to do it. I always set a budget limit and make sure that I won't exceed on my allocated funds for gambling.
As much as possible, I avoid chasing my losses because that will only bring higher losses especially when our emotions are uncontrollable. We can have gambling as a habit but we have to make sure that we are the one who is controlling it and not the ones to control us.

How do you keep your gambling habit in check such that becoming addicted and out of control is something that never happens?

Everyone can have his own plan to don't fall into the gambling addiction trap. For example, some old gamblers who got lots of experience they expect to lose and they expect to lose all the money they play with that's why they will put in some limited money per month or per week and if they lost all the money they placed for gambling they will stop until the next month that how they recover and don't fall into emotional traps. Also, it's better to have a limit for gambling per week and stop gambling when the time is over so you don't spend lots of time for gambling.
^ Set a budget is the most important to remember as a gambler and before you start gambling, decide on a budget that you are comfortable with and can afford to lose. Stick to this budget and avoid exceeding it and I think this is always heard here, don't chase losses, avoid chasing your losses by increasing your bets. This will only lead to more significant losses and put you at risk of addiction, consider self-exclusion from gambling if you feel like you are unable to control your gambling habits. Self-exclusion programs can help you stay away from gambling establishments and online gambling sites which I think Stake.com has.

I've never had a problem with this so my advice isn't likely to be of much help. When I notice that I spend a lot of time/effort on something (not just gambling), then I make an assessment: how reasonable it is. If this does not benefit me, but rather takes time, effort, emotions, money, then I immediately stop doing it. By the way, in this way I quit playing online chess because they worried me too much  Grin

Not many have their self-assessment when it comes to gambling.
In my case, to know that I am still in control with my gambling, I always set a max limit that I can use for gambling.
I may go beyond a lil bit from that amount, but if I feel I can't recover my losses, I accept my fate for that session.
So for me, it is acceptance that you lost on a certain period, don't chase anymore if you go beyond your limit,
because you will incur more losses, and it is hard to recover. I just go back when I have my extra funds to play again.

By the way, I remembered another way that completely distracts me from gambling: making money. I'm not talking about going to work with a fixed hourly pay, but about any business, even if it's small. This is also a very gambling thing that takes a lot of time and effort, when you do business, you don’t even think about gambling. At least that's how it is for me  Smiley
Whether it is small business or something with good number of employees, our involvement will have big impact over the revenue generated through the business. As stated some businesses were like gambling, but it is not about prediction but about the precise calculation and execution. Succeeding the same brings good revenue. I find this way of having control over gambling a best way to keep ourselves distracted from gambling.

It is very hard to control gambling habit. Anything human being does is from the mind and if he or she can control nthe mind then he or she can control gambling habit. But I don't think is easy on that.  If anyone is trying to control gambling habit, there are some spiritual activities that need to be done to free the mind of thinking of such. And such as, repent and born again, going to church and be prayerfully. Then old things have passed away and everything becomes new. You have to leave your gambling friends and move with Christ minded friends. Always be yourself. These are some the things one can do to control his habit of gambling to avoid addiction.

I've been setting aside money for gambling sessions and only using that money for that purpose(in short only gamble what you can afford to lose), not worrying about the money you lost on gambling helps your mental health and help you focus and be more level headed when it comes to gambling. having a healthy balance between gambling and having a break from gambling should definitely help your gambling habit in check. but at the end of the day, it would still depend on your own self-discipline, all that I have said will collapse if you can't control yourself.

There's this one habit I've developed for myself and which i think pays me in many ways after which I've been using it, I don't leave more than the required money i needed to gamble with on ny casino wallet, this help me caution and refuce the rate which I gamble and spend money, what more could a gambler do when he has nothing more keft on his crypto casino wallet, this is a means for us to control ourselves in other not to go beyond the expectations.

Seeing how many people who are problem gamblers today did not have the intention of becoming gamblers who lack self control but somehow they are now gamblers who cannot control themselves, It means that everyone is at the danger of become such if it is not put in check.

How do you keep your gambling habit in check such that becoming addicted and out of control is something that never happens?

Lack of control in your gambling activities can make one an addict. I am not a daily gambler,I only gamble during the weekends to entertain myself, after the long week stress. I have a time duration which I use when am gambling so that, I don't be distracted with my emotions. I do this with two or three friends,so that we can be able to control ourselves from addiction. Self discipline plays a major role in controlling one's gambling activities. Sometimes, I go to visit my relations because if am with them,I dare not gamble since,I am hiding it from them.

The problem is, most gamblers are not aware of it. especially, novice gamblers. without them realizing it, that control is an important part so that someone doesn't get caught up in excessive activity. which in the end, most of us become gambling addicts. as the OP in this thread said, on the first point.

Well, if you are not a daily gambler. at least, you have pretty good control and the possibility of potentially becoming a gambling addict is very small. moreover, if you only gamble as entertainment. what you do, at least meets the requirements in terms of self-control. so, you just have to maintain your consistency.

However, in contrast to what I do. I am quite active in gambling, especially football betting. in a week, I can bet three times according to the schedule of the big European leagues. to be honest, I don't mind if someone says I'm a gambling addict. most importantly, I have boundaries and take responsibility. as long as it doesn't harm family, friends, others. It does not matter. I still have control, when is it time to gamble and when is it time to end the gambling session.

Gambling is the risk taking game, the people who don’t have guts to play the game.Kindly stay away from the gambling,No one forcing you to involve in the gambling, better use it or skip it.Their are lot of online, where you can play for free.So use that game to entertainment yourself. If you are the person wants fun by using your own money. You can try the gambling, with the less money instead of risking high money at the initial stage. And No one force you to use high money at beginning.
If you can’t control your gambling emotion, this is not for you because gambling is very risky and if you gamble with too much emotion, that is a habit that can ended up into addiction. I stay control with myself by just staying away in gambling if I don’t have extra money even if I want to gamble, i will not force myself to do it to stay responsible, this can be a good practice for your long term benefit.

Just install ads block in your PC, cellphone, iPad etc and keep busy everyday, if you have an intention to gamble, you need to workout. So anytime you want to gamble, you need to have workout, just think it as a punishment. Then over and over, if you keep discipline and able to control yourself, you can completely quit gambling. After you have a good self control and learn about money management, you can come back to gambling.
Tried using this one before and I can say that making yourself busy are more effective, you tend to focus on something else instead of wasting your time in gambling and wasting your money. Its also good if you only have limited budget for gambling, don’t force yourself to gamble if you can’t afford it anymore. Have your limitations, follow your strategy or whatever plans that can limit your exposure in gambling.

Just set up your limit, and commit on that.
This is not easy, there’s a lot of attractive offers or winnings that might ruin your strategy or plan in gambling but remember to stay focus on your goal and just have fun. Gambling can be very tricky sometimes, its ok to have loss as long as you gamble within your limit and using your money. You need to stay in control as much as possible, don’t get too emotional in gambling.
I think it's in situations like this that being a systematic and methodical person helps a lot, so you won't feel tempted to break your own initial set of rules to continue gambling after your budget for the week is gone, besides not feeling tempted by offers and promotions displayed everywhere on the internet, since what really matters for a person like that is to be committed with the original plan scheduled before.

Play on only fun mode. No you cannot win big or anything playing that was, but you cannot lose either. You get the thrill of the win without the heartache of a big loss either. We would all love to be billionaires and enjoy playing for big bucks but it's just not reality for most.

Its name says it all so yes nothing to expect here but I think if you went into a hardcore gambling, you will find playing in fun mode pointless even if you use bigger amounts of play money and burned that all it hunting huge multipliers.

This will only look like a task to you rather than being thrilled. Gambling doesn't have to be played with a big amount and it is still possible to win huge as long as you will come up with a strategy. That is you will stop for a while after winning and try again later or the next day so that the house edge won't work in the favor of the casino. To become a billionaire is only kinda impossible though so one should not dream about it through gambling.
I don't know your experience in gambling, but mine is quite extensive. I have won super large amounts of money and lost super large amounts as well. Once you win big, you will not be happy with mediocre wins. Gambling small is just boring. So, why put your money at risk? Your happiness? Your sanity? Just play on play money and look at it as having fun wasting time IMO.

Controlling yourself is not as easy as you teach the system to control. I have been trying to wean myself off gambling for a long time but have not been successful. I experienced a $300 bitcoin loss from gambling a few months ago with Sportbet. Since then I have been trying hard to control myself from gambling but I was able to control it very well for the first two weeks but last week I got involved in gambling again with a profit of 200 dollars in this match Manchester City vs RB Leipzig.
