Well, it's always self-disciplined, whatever game you play, once you have it, it will be not a problem when it comes to when to stop. Always set a time and a goal, then stop when you hit your limit either whats the outcome, try it again in another time. That's always what i'm  following to.
Stoping a bad habit shouldn't be a problem once we are ready to leave that habit. It all comes with a package a d that package entails us to be ready to do the necessary to make sure that the habit will not be a burden to us. So many of us has bad habit but it all depends on the degree of that habit whether we are ready to deal with it or breath along with it. I see gambling as an altitude that is been developed with time. We should not think that because of we are slow to betting then will will not get accustom to what we keep doing everytime.

How do you keep your gambling habit in check such that becoming addicted and out of control is something that never happens?

(share your strategy for others to benefit from)

Need to have options for making money, other than gambling.

People get addicted to gambling due to viewing it as their only golden ticket to getting anywhere in life. If its the only road they can think of walking. They will never go anywhere else.

It might be the similar to women who have difficulty valuing themselves outside of sex and their appearance. If that's the only value they can find in themselves. It can become very difficult to reinvent themselves.

Back up plan. 2nd option. Exit strategy. Those who have some semblance of these things, need not hold on to only one thing forever.

It starts with the mind. Consistent reminder that gambling isn't a get rich quick scheme can do the magic. Once greed is properly managed it will be much easier to subject every other thing to full control. Addiction in gambling is a result of long accumulated gambling greed.  If the mind is reminded gambling is for fun and a reward for passion it will be easy to control gambling urge that might result in addiction

Seeing how many people who are problem gamblers today did not have the intention of becoming gamblers who lack self control but somehow they are now gamblers who cannot control themselves, It means that everyone is at the danger of become such if it is not put in check.

Very hard to control though, even if you think you are not that addicted, but still you want to play every day, or put a bet on every game you like. For me though is to just withdraw your money out of casinos, or just leave a small amount that you can put some bet and that's it. Because let's say you have won a decent amount and still thinks that you can make it big and didn't withdraw, sooner or later if that money dwindles, you may have to think of betting everything in one go. So in my case if I have a successful run and I think that i have made good enough money for me, I immediately withdraw and enjoy the fruits of my winnings.

Hard to control when you are enjoying the game since one thing came out on your mind and that is to continue what you do since you are having a good day. But the key to avoid losing is to know when to quit and we should know when is our end point of playing because from this we can form a proper discipline for ourselves not to abuse what we are doing. Good to withdraw once there is a profit and try your luck next time since risking all what you have in one shot is very bad attitude for a gambler.

How do you keep your
habit in check such that becoming addicted and out of control is something that never happens?

Self-control is something I've learned through discipline. When I get the urge to gamble, I put discipline first. Like myself, who loves betting mostly on sports, I only like to bet on Mondays and weekends. The reason is because I sometimes have some sports games that would be running from Monday through the rest of the week, so I just place the bet and get busy with my work from that Monday until Friday, so I get off work so early.

IMO, unless you are someone who is not engaged in any job, you might find less time to gamble because you would be occupied with work from Monday until Friday, and even after work, you need to take a rest for the next day's work, you need to give your family a bit of attention, and there are other primary things that may need your attention in the house.

How I practice self-control through discipline: I always ask myself if there's no other important stuff to do at that moment other than to gamble, and once I realize I have an important thing to do, I go for it. Second, I have my best friends, too, when it comes to gambling. Any time I am too busy to gamble, I give them a call and ask them to place a bet on my behalf while I just send the money to them.

Been answered many times and still I'd suggest preventing it at first before it got worse. If you would be setting limitations with the amount you can afford losing, given that winning won't be certain most of the time, then you would be safe from addiction simply because you would be able to endure losing perhaps $100 bucks for that day. You won't be frustrated as well to get back with your losses since the amount you have lost is tolerable. Unlike with players who are playing with their intentions to push through, everytime they are losing, they would bet more until they have nothing to bet;frustration, regrets qnd other negative emotions are more likely to be felt which could definitely affect a player next time he would play. And this is where addiction manifest.

For me i think its pretty simple to checkmate your gambling habit, i mean just don't gamble more than what you have and can't afford. I could recall fews year back when my colleague at work had some serious gambling issues, i mean this guy will gamble almost all his salary of about 180$ just in one sitting with his phone in an online casino and he will alway get dellusional after loosing out this money. They were serious talks of taking him to a specialist for counseling but i just tought about the whole problem he was facing and said to myself he is the actual problem to himself and only him can advise himself to keep his habit in place,  i mean if you know loosing that money will cause you great thoughts and problems i mean c'mon man just dont do it.

^Here is my personal opinion if you are struggling to control your gambling habits, first, admitting that you have a problem is the first step towards addressing it. It can be difficult to accept that you have a problem, but it is essential that be honest with yourself and don't pretend that you are okay. Next is to decide how much money and time you can afford to spend on gambling, and stick to those limits. Do not exceed the limits you have set, even if you are in a winning situation. The last part is when everything becomes worst and if you find that you are unable to control your gambling habits on your own, seek help from a professional. A therapist or counselor can help you address the underlying issues that may be driving your addiction, at least there is someone who can quickly help you in bad times.

Personally for me, I gamble with full consciousness of what I am doing, this automatically helps me to keep myself gambling activities, finances and everything gambling related in check.
One of the reasons why most gamblers fall into addiction and lack of gambling control is due to gambling carelessly, many gamble so carelessly that if you ask them how much they've lost and won from gambling in the past seven days, they wont tell you, not because they don't want to, but because they don't actually know, even as we gamble for fun and not for the money( for those of us that gamble for fun), it is very important to keep track of this things so as to be able to tell when we are making gains from gambling and when we are already losing too much, this will help us know when to slow down.

Sometimes when I think of gambling I try to use other meaningful thought to clear it off my brain, but if am in debt most time am tempted to gamble in other to get money to pay the debt but I later found and alternative that's I will first look for other means to clear my bills instead of seeing gambling as the overall means of settling the debt which I know that gambling is a risk.

Personally there are several ways one can make their gambling stay in check and one of the major ways to do so is by having a spending budget habit as this one majorly will go a very long way to check all of these things in check.
Most times the quest to desperately make profit at all cost in gambling I guess is the major cause of addictive gambling and  through my little research I've some time now, I've discovered that people who hit some incredible figures in gambling are not really chronic gamblers but rather patient gamblers. People should always try to check their gambling attitude in checks by having
1. Budget for gambling
2. Not chase after losses
3. Staying contented and seeing every win as a win
Win or lose then you should really know on when to stop. When your balance get vanished or blown up then dont tend to add up even more.Stop right away and call it a day.
Never ever chase up your losses because this is the main reason on why people do commit out mistakes and also they do become greedy which it would really resulted
on the same scenario.

You are the ones who do could able to handle out yourself and making up decisions which should really be that sensible and something realistic.
Dont chase up losses and never be greedy then you wont really be putting yourself in trouble.

I think this is more or less what I said in the last post where I said that people need to manage their bankroll well, it all starts with good bankroll management, if a person defines $10 as money they are willing to risk each week or month, so when that person loses all 10$ that person needs to stay calm and wait for the next week or month to follow to make another deposit of 10$, if that person always do exactly the same thing then that person will be in control of yourself

but when a person does not have good bankroll management, that person will put in 10$, he will lose, then he will put in 20$ and will lose again, then he will put in 30$ and will lose, this cycle will continue until the person goes for bankruptcy, and will be hospitalized for proving that he is addicted to gambling, the biggest problem is that this person also drags his family who will have to pay bills with his treatment that can drag on for years

Perhaps thinking ahead of the consequences when you become addicted so for me,

1. Focus more on your goals in life instead of always thinking of gambling
2. Prioritize
3. Maybe you can go as far as writing down what you want to accomplished.

If you have debts, then write it down and see how you are going to pay for it first. Now, if you think you have done everything and maybe you have some spare per month then maybe you can gamble small amount to enjoy as well.

I always commit to limiting my funds and my time to play gambling. I never break this commitment, I never continue playing when I spend my fund allocation. And I stop gambling when the time for gambling is over. This is an effective way for me to avoid gambling excessively and uncontrollably. I believe the bad habit of gambling is caused by spending money recklessly and having no limit on the time to gamble. I am aware there are many other factors, but money and time are the two big factors.

There's no strategy or somewhat that do talks about tips and tricks on how to avoid yourself on such addiction. All you do need is that common sense and awareness on what your actions because this would be

the one would really be saving you up because if you are really that just sensible and having that control then you wont be finding yourself on being addicted into something.Whether we do talk about
gambling or any possible addictive things around.

We are really having that different tolerance when it comes on dealing with things. If you are really that just in good control then i dont see any problems.

Live with peace and enjoy life!
I do have a monthly budget which I set aside for gambling only. If this budget is been exhausted, I don't have a choice than to stop gambling till the next month. This strategy has always put me in check of my gambling activities.

This is a nice recommendation, set a budget for the month for sure is one of the best ways to avoid losing money that you need and only lose money that you can afford to lose. I really like this recommendation.

What I do to control the beast is that I only take a small piece of each payment I get and use that for gambling, I take only between 5% and 10%, and if I lose that I don't feel bad at all. This method works fine for me.
This is actually a good recommendation if a gambler will stick to it and never follow his urge to gamble more. Setting a budget limit is what I also do, but sometimes it’s hard for me to control myself not to bet anymore especially if I know there is high chances of winning. But nevertheless, my gambling activities are still in control so I don’t have to worry about it as well as with my finances too.

In my case the main reason for my gambling habit is to fulfill my source of entertainment. So just as we keep a certain fund every month for our other daily activities, I also keep a certain fund every month for gambling actually I love to watch sports games and also love to enjoy placing some bets on them. I don't know if it's my addiction but I've had no problem gambling so far with my dedicated fund set aside, although I've had extra fund additions and losses at times.
