I am a coinbase user about 2years past.Still now ,i am using coinbase wallet. i have store my coin in online wallet. When i earn Bitcoin,i sold them for local curency and sometimes i take recherge from online using my coin. Now a day's i am thinking about store my coin.Because i wanted to be Bitcoin trader.Desktop or hardware wallet are best for stored bitcoin i heared it by this forum member. But i have no idea about those wallet. But i will learn quickly using those wallet. those wallet are fully safe and secured.

I tried few desktop wallets, Electrum seemed pretty much best and easiest to use, very friendly, and maybe somewhat basic userface. For hardware wallet I only tried Ledger HW1, I was also new at this, but with little help from internet you'll learn it really fast. I think there is official video on their website, and also you get manual when you order it.
If you gonna use bitcoin for trading I dont see problem in keeping some small amount on exchange.
to me i personally stores my bitcoin in online wallets, according to some people online wallets are risky and there are more chance that your wallet will be hacked and your bitcoin will be stolen.

Online wallet is best for small amouny of money and for a huge transaction. I am using online wallet because i have to do many transaction in a day.So why online wallet is very important me.But online wallet aren't safe ans secure .Anytime hacker can attack our wallet and steal our all of money.Desktop wallet is Best for stored coin.Till now,i haven't face any problem with my online wallet.Smiley
for active internet users and traders, Online wallet and hot wallet is preferable but for investors, cold wallet is better

Without the right precautions even your desktop wallet might not turn out to be very safe. Just imagine how many people don't secure their wallet files with proper passphrases. Some people don't even use a passphrase just for the purpose of it being much quicker and more "convenient". I rather work less convenient but have everything secured properly, than leaving everything open where it becomes an easy target for malware.

i mostly have my BTC on paper wallets in a safe, but i do keep a small amount in breadwallet just for showing people and send small amounts.  I think for long term storage paper wallets or offline hardware wallets are the way to go, the difference being paper wallets are free, which i like Smiley

You don't think that's risky?
what if you have fire? (assuming your safe isnt fire proof)

I keep some on my phone, and most in coinbase.
One of the ways to avoid things like that, a fire, the paper gets lost or old is to have a copy in a different location than the one you have in your home, like in a security box or the house of a family member, that way you diversify your risks and the chance of losing both of your copies at the same time is very low.
I agree, better to have a back up copy of your paper wallet. Any disaster can happen and you paper wallet can be lost in your side and the bitcoin stored in that paper wallet will lose too. Better to have back up in all wallets you have.

I use a mixture - I have some paper wallets stored in a safe

I have a few bitcoin on my main computer using elctrum wallet

I have .4 ish bitcoins on my Iphone

I have almost a bitcoin on blockchain.info

I figure its good to spread it around (it helps me sleep safer at night)
You say you have bitcoin on blockchain.info, and another set of .4 bitcoin on your iPhone? I use blockchain.info aswell

and my bitcoins on my computer in blockchain.info and my bitcoin on my phone in the Blockchain Mobile App are

connected. Do you use another bitcoin wallet app besides blockchain? Or do you have seperate bitcoin addresses

within blockchain.info that you designate for your iPhone and Computer seperately?

Cold storage, offline ALL THE TIME. That s the only safe storage you can get.

U can keep a very small amount in some online wallet, 2FA auth combined with email auth is MUST HAVE in that case.

Just remember if you are not going to trade for some time, then empty your coinbase wallet and transfer your fund to a desktop or hardware wallet because if there is a hack you risk the possibility your coins could be stolen by a hacker or by a government raid.

i think that depends on your porpouses, and the amount of bitcoin you are holding, if it is a big amount of btc and you are using it as investment, the best would be and offline wallet if you like it for trading there are other ways in which you can access your coins fster. web wallets, desktop wallets.
In my case i use a web wallet, blockchain indeed, cause i dont a large amount of coins and this wallets suits perfect to my needs right now, in hte future who knows...

there is many online wallet are available to store your bitcoin but i usually use online wallet to store my bitcoin in the blockchain wallet i feel that blockchain is much more safe and secure than other wallet so i prefer that blockchain is better and simple and easy.

Yup blockchain wallet is really better and safe in compare to other wallets as it gives fully security features to the users and if you don't have much bitcoins then its better to go with a single wallet but people who holds high amount of bitcoins will never depend only on single wallet and will prefer to store their coins in different wallets to avoid the risk of loosing them.

I store my bitcoins in multiple wallets as putting all bitcoins at a single place could be risky if it gets virus attack or may get stolen so I have different wallets to take care of my bitcoins and best way to keep bitcoins is to keep them in a cold storage and only use them when you are in desperate need of money.

I am using Electrum lightweight wallet right now, I don't know if it's the best option but I think its lot faster than Bitcoin core.
You don't need to download the entire file and store it in Bitcoin core if you are a casual bitcoin user ,Electrum wallet is more than enough for you to store your coins but make sure the system is not infected with virus or any other malware and the best practice is to store your coins offline .

you are worried about fire to store your coins in a paper wallet and you are confident enough to store it in your phone which can be hacked and in an online wallet which can be hacked too. So the odds of losing your coins while storing in a paper wallet is less if you can take care of things and store in a safe place.

I store my bitcoins using an online wallet, and I use Blockchain. It's a pretty simple interface, good security, and they have a mobile Ios App that allows you to manage it on the go. So lets say for example,

you owe a friend money that perhaps uses bitcoins, you can scan their phone using the Blockchain QR code scanner and transfer bitcoin straight into their wallet. However there are many reliable bitcoin wallets

available online.

Don't you think that online wallet is bit risky as there are chances of wallet getting hacked by the hackers, better is to store in offline wallet as there are least chances of bitcoins getting stolen and for the same reason I choose multibit and electrum wallet as no one wants to loose their hard earned coins to the scammers.

The major part of my coins is in cold storage. I'm not planing on selling those soon.
And then there is a small fraction I have at two different online wallets stored there again in different wallets.
Those I use for online purchases. Hopefully this way I can minimize my risk.
