It is always fun to watch a live food show, but online foodbetting site? I am yet to wrap my head around this thought.
One fun of online gambling is that it can be done from anywhere and in almost any mental state, so long as the sight is clear, there's balance in the wallet and some matches or games to bet on at any time. Would food betting offer a 24hrs bet option at all time everyday? How will the odds be calculated?

The concept might sound nice, but if questions as these aren't answered thoughtfully, it is good as a building a castle in the air.

This is the first time I know that food betting exists. And I don't think using food as a betting material is funny like other bets. I've never tried it, and I don't think I will because it will make my stomach churn. But maybe other people besides those on Instagram will bet on food betting, and that's up to them because perhaps some see it as interesting entertainment.

But I once watched a show that ate the most burgers, and many people were watching that show too. But after that, I never saw anything like that again.

Might be better if the OP put up a poll and so we will see the votes. But I will assume that majority here are not going to be interested on foodbetting or even consider it as a sports to be put our money with.

It might be fun and interesting to see and watch this, when do people wants to out do each other thru eating. Maybe there will be some that loves to gamble on everything they can get their hands with. But not me, I will skip this kind of betting and just simply watch it for fun.

Customers joining the site to bet on their favorite foodie are expected to register as a member, just as is required in a normal bet site. They would place their bets on contestants who are expected to eat more or eat less quantity of various prepared food within a timed period/duration.

Uhmm nope, I don't find it amusing or interesting. Though we've seen several contest regarding eating something like 10 pounds of patty or a foot long, but that's it, we enjoy watching those but betting? Nah, at least for me and some other people.
Sports are still far more amusing and exciting to place a bet on in a lot more ways than a just 1 team winning. You can bet who will score first, how much/less would be the lead, and etc.
Casinos won't add games that's least interesting in their website though, as there might not have enough bettors to generate an amount for the winners.

Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?
This is the first time i've heard of this idea but i wouldn't dare to bet in this type of game because i'm never interested in seeing people competing to eat or drink something, it looks like torture.

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?
Everything can be done, it depends on the policy of the event creator, but up to now there is not a single organizer who is interested in making an event or sport like this (maybe what Oshosondy wrote is true, that there is a big possibility that when an event like this is held, manipulation will occur)

Lol! It's actually interesting. During the school carnival, event like that are being organized and price given to best participant but placing bet on it sound weird to me. Salivating while someone enjoys the food and you possibly lose your money when your favorite fumble will be very a bad experience for me honestly. Aside the health challenges associated with it, it's not kind of us to turn everything to gambling. Very soon we'll have to place bet on how people walk since we already have that of sprinting. Some few months back, I stumble upon a post on Twitter where Nigerian lady was given award by Guinness world record for the longest cooking in the world  Grin I realized that we are heading to somewhere else than expected.

I don't think this is a sport. We know that sport, apart from being a place for gambling and betting, of course it involves health for athletes too, whereas betting on eating a lot like that is like torturing yourself and looking for disease, it's no different from cockfighting which for us betting requires someone to get sick and die, so I don't think this can be considered gambling.

Even if there was this kind of gambling in the future I would probably never be interested in betting on an event like this, let alone involving someone who is strong enough to eat a lot, it can also be manipulated so it is not suitable for betting events in casinos or gambling sites, but maybe it would be appropriate if the bet it is held at local gambling venues and not online. that obviously wouldn't be interesting  Wink

Looking at this Instagram post it seems like these are normal woman that are tying to win the money, for professional eaters this would be no problem to eat such a huge meal in less than 5 minutes. YouTube is full of videos from professional eaters that can eat huge amounts in short time. The funny thing is that most of these athletes are normal looking, not overweight and usually very fit. When I was younger, I always thought that the heavy guy would win these challenges and was surprised to see the small Asian guy destroy the others. Now my money would always be on the skinny fit person. The idea is funny and if there is enough demand for it, I think that people would start betting on it. From the number of views on the YouTube videos I know that there are definitely millions of people watching such type of sport. The question would be now if there will be bookmakers willing to accept bets on it. As from the Instagram video I am not sure if people would be willing to bet money on ordinary people competing in it, because the chances of winning against a professional are so small. The odds should reflect who has experience in it and who competed in such challenges in the past and won. Then there would also be some kind of oversight to make sure everything is fair and each contestant gets the same size meal.

If you want to bet on it for the novelty as a gimmick, I suppose. How you begin to calculate mathematical odds for something like this is beyond me. Cheating could potentially be rampant in individualized "sports" like this as well. In team outcome games, rigging becomes a whole lot more difficult. How do you verify fairness in something like this?

Eating is like the opposite of a sport.

Believe it or not, competitive eating is a thing. And where there is competition, presumably there is someone out there willing to bet on it.

It's quite unique to see gambling like this, but if asked whether I wanted to gamble on a match like this I would choose not to, because the chance of the match being manipulated is certainly there. Not to mention that the risk of players choking is quite high which makes this gambling not really worth participating in.

I have heard of the wife carrying competitions in some parts of the world. Men are mandated to carry their wives along very difficult terrain and the first to get to the finish line will be declared the winner. Some gamers bet on a couple they think will win the game and factors like the size of the wife and the strength of the man in put into consideration before betting. Some people have also organized husband-carrying competitions but it is not as popular as wife-carrying.

I will not engage in the game of food-eating betting as a participant but I can bet on the game. I don't think I can be part of such a game because it could have negative consequences such as health issues. But it will not be morally wrong to bet on participants with track records. But I would like to engage in the wife or husband-carrying competition. This is because it is a kind of sport, it is fun and can bond the husband and wife.

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?

I am not comfortable with the eating competition because eating shouldn't be used as a sport and this competition has no health benefits. So I will not organize or sponsor a food-eating competition. But some people are skillful in such games, so watching and betting on them will not be a bad idea.

This is not a sport because the participants will not derive any physical or health benefits from the game. Rather it could lead to sickness and even eating disorders..

A food betting where it's live would be more entertaining. I do see the post from the Instagram page that it is somewhat fake because that's not how they would eat if they want to win the money. They are like just casually eating it and not really making it fast and actually winning the money LOL.

I would love to bet on those types of things but I think it will just fuel our judgment of people where it's "the looks" instead of actual ability to eat.

Doesn't sound very interesting to be honest. I mean, are there people that has "favorite foodie" like you mentioned? Sounds weird. I mean who enjoys watching someone eat competitively? That would make me nauseous. And how would transparency be maintained? What is stopping one of the players from manipulating the bets? Also, this will be promoting overconsumption and it is definitely not healthy. There are few competitive eating contest, but there's a reason they are heavily regulated.

Of course, I won't play as a Fooder or eater, I am interested to play as a bettor and choose a player I want. Because food, whatever is kind, if excessive you eat it without limit then there will be many diseases that perch in your body. Maybe, I don't really agree with this game if I compare it with too many outside countries who are starving or have hungry children. maybe the committee should also think about the impact in the future, If they wish, it is better to donate some prizes to countries that have starving people.

If it's just a contest about food eating that would be fine but if it will be involve that anyone can bet on it I guess that will be easily manipulated. There will be just a random occasions that it's more real and good to bet on but if it's an organized one that includes betting, I'll doubt that to be honest.

The truth can be a competition without Attracting much attention, normally there are competitions where the one who eats more steak than the Other , the one who buys more hamburgers than the other and these are competitions that tend to be very American style, where there are still some counties. They like to do it, at least I see them as much healthier than placing bets on fighting roosters or horses, which is now seen as animal abuse, and Honestly , for me, cock fighting should not exist under any circumstances, so if we We start to buy the option of relatively obese people who like to compete for who eats the most food, because it is not tied to me, it is more interesting than seeing those animal actors who kill themselves and that people bet on who is left alive, something ruel but I consider it very bad, now when it comes to food, what should be considered is that people do not abuse and throw away food because there is a lot of hunger in the world, so in these types of competitions food should be treated, eaten with the respect that is Deserved by others who in their ometno do not have to buy a Single bite.

Now, I don't know if this type of competition is held worldwide. because clearly things can deviate to those things, I remember that as a child I did Competitions like this , because I was a Child who hardly ate, obviously others beat me, I used to eat very slowly, and my friends very quickly , l The truth is, I couldn't no matter how hard I tried to eat quickly, and those who were fat didn't even have anything in less than 5 Minutes , as I was in sports, Obviously one eats more, one eats more, and one is I grew up much bigger, I made each session of my sport hungrier, therefore I learned to eat faster, a few years ago a cousin did a competition with another, the one who ate the most hot dogs, and my cousin won, and That's a pretty skinny person , but he eats everything they Give him , he's the competition so I've actually Seen.

Trust me when I say I found this idea quite amusing at first, but I don't know of any initiative that has come up with a food betting website yet, except for this guy I found on Instagram who has made it NigeriaVsFood challenge.

Here's the link to the Instagram page.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cw1-LsjIfGP/?igshid=NjZiM2M3MzIxNA==
Man, these guys are weak. There's probably a lot more you'd find interesting OP on restaurants that have challenges like this instead, I've watched a few but nothing really official from the restaurant themselves, only from the challengers here and there. Would be a great source of views imo. I also wouldn't really call this 'betting", it's more like a challenge really, so I wouldn't consider it a bet. The Instagram profile only made use of this content I think to promote his affiliate link or something.

Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?

Nope. In the first place, I reckon it's extremely hard to replicate two duplicates of a food type to provide, and I mean REALLY similar. Even the smallest deviation can be an influence to a loss imo. It's interesting sure, but I have enough fun watching this on restaurants that offer challenges themselves. Besides, I can't exactly imagine how training for this goes lmao.

What other funny and real betting exist like this you know of?

in my opinion, another type of thing that I find unbelievable and meaningless are rooster bets, bets on presidential elections, these two things I wouldn't waste time analyzing and placing bets and even for bets on those who eat a lot I wouldn't bet on it, because it's something much harder to predict, in the case of cockfight betting I think it's something dehumanizing that people are doing, there's nothing in it that anyone could find funny, about presidential elections of countries in my case it would be like buying a ticket lottery, in the lottery the chances of winning are very small, so I wouldn't bet on the country's presidential elections. But if I were to bet on my country's presidential elections

I would bet because they are very predictable, so predictable that I would put my entire bankroll on the bet, because with the corrupt government of my country, for over 50 years, the same party always wins because they manipulate the election results, and this problem of manipulation and corruption is what could be seen in betting on those who eat a lot. who will guarantee that bet will be demonstrably fair? What would it cost for someone to give a lot of money to the guy who is going to eat a lot and tell him to purposely not eat a lot and then for someone to bet a lot of money that the guy who eats a lot won't eat a lot, no one can guarantee that this kind of thing won't happen

Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?

I definitely wouldn't try

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?

in my opinion it is not worth spending resources investing in this idea, because the biggest problem with this is that there will be no way to guarantee that the game will be demonstrably fair. playing tennis for example, he is a guy who wants prestige, reputation and fame so he strives to win and be at the top of the rankings, so he will not accept bribes to lose on purpose. whereas a guy who eats a lot in a contest, has nothing but the money he won from the contest prize. so he can accept bribe

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?

This could even be classified as a sport if it were widely accepted, but it would be very difficult to have many athletes from many countries, and many countries in the world don't have many people with the money and time to eat a lot in a few hours.

Making a good service out of those it would take much money, probably more than it would take starting a normal sport bookie.
It would need a research of the market and also much advertisement to reach those interested in such novelty. There is a market, for sure specially in the United States where there are actual and reputable eating contests, though, I am not sure on the number of followers of that "sport" / contest.

Here in my city there was once an attempt to start a league for people who wished to participate in eating contests, however, in my opinion the reception was lackluster; it did not escalate in popularity, so in that sense, there will be communities and countries where people may not be attracted to it (beyond the initial curiosity of the idea).

I see from the IG content that it looks like a challenge but it also contains promotions about gambling sites. then is there anything unique? I want to see what happens if food is used as betting material in the future? then what is at stake? I'm sure this will be a new trend if it works. once successful, food will become one of the gambling options besides casinos and sports betting.
