I have recently been into altcoin trading. I just want to know, does the price of bitcoin affect the price of other cryptocurrencies as well? How? I really want to know. I have noticed that ever since the bitcoin price pumped up and reached 4,000 USD, the price of the altcoins had gone really really low. I almost lost my invesment due to this sudden drop. Does bitcoin price have something to do with this?

I am also a crypto trader. I also notice that altcoin price is dependent to bitcoin price. When bitcoin is up , so as altcoin but when bitcoin is down , so as altcoin also. It is connected. Bitcoin is the number one crypto currency. For me it is something like a leader of the troop so wherever or whatever its price, is also the alts price. "follow the leader".

bitcoin is the parent of the crypto market, so whoever it is when entering ek crypto market, bitcoin is the first to appear. and that can affect the number of investors who will invest in bitcoin.

It may be the case that all prices depend on Bitcoin as a best quality level and most trades require the trading of bitcoin for different coins making it like a crypto save money.
Note that on account of the decentralized idea of this cash, the bitcoin cost isn't ordinarily controlled by any organization, association or government. This implies before you attempt to foresee the ascent or fall in the cost of bitcoins.

The price of alternative coins directly depends on bitcoin.Just as the price of the dollar depends on the price of other currencies. The whole question is in the market control.Controls the cryptocurrency bitcoin.

I do not think BTC affects altcoin, but the BTC has affected many people, so that people hang the altcoin price on the BTC. this is my thinking.

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that exists and that is what regulates the price of crypto. If Bitcoin does not exist, then other crypto currencies does not exist too. If Bitcoin fails, people will lose faith in other cryptocurrencies.

Altcoins are very dependent on Bitcoin and they react to any of its movements. Altcoins grow when Bitcoin stands still

Yes the crypto ecosystem are tight connected, if one big coin goes on a longer bull run, people sell their other coins they have to take part in the party.
But after the Bitcoin season comes the altcoins season, so it's not a good idea to sell all your altcoins when this happens.

In the past year, bitcoin has a very strong influence on the negative cryptocurrency alternatives. When bitcoin grew, the rest of the assets fell.

Of course, the price of bitcoin directly affects the price of all altcoins. Bitcoin is growing, and altcoins are growing in price. Bitcoin drops in price, and altcoins fall accordingly. This is explained by the fact that Bitcoin has a very high level of capitalization and it allows Bitcoin to exercise price dominance over other types of cryptocurrency.

bitcoin is the king of all coins and many other coins that have prices based on bitcoin so that bitcoin has a big influence on other crypto, when the price of bitcoin falls, almost all crypto also have a low price
I think you're right, but that rule doesn't apply to all coins. Strong coins like monero, dash, Ethereum, ltc do not depend on bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the first crypto in crypto currency, and became the king of crypto. The highest bitcoin prices are among the other crypto, and every existing crypto always moves in price following the bitcoin price movement. The power of bitcoin is very large and people's trust in bitcoin is very high, so bitcoin can affect other crypto.

Other cryptos follow in the wake of Bitcoin. If Bitcoin goes up, the major altcoins go up. When Bitcoin goes down, so do the major alts.
It will follows on what happens on bitcoin.  Bitcoin is the king of the cryptocurrency that's why the others coins follows the flow on Bitcoin value in the market.

To me am pretty surprised of what happened when the market value of Bitcoin increases from  $3000 to $4,000 or above, other altcoin were seriously goning down which means the movement of Bitcoin has both positive or negative impact on the altcoin.
Yes this right bitcoin has both positive and negative feedback affect on altcoins progress and profit. Bitcoin is the heavily used digital decentralised currency. After seeing the benefits of cryptocurrency like bitcoin many people believe on altcoins and start using altcoins like cryptocurrency for their various uses. So this are the positive vibes of bitcoin upon altcoins. Bitcoin market price is higher then that of any altcoin and because of this many like to invest in bitcoin than that of altcoins. Bitcoin is also accepted in many big companies this thing increase bitcoin popularity so this thing negative affect on altcoins user number.

I strongly believe that the bitcoin affect in very good way to other cryptocurrencies. The bitcoin is the first and the most strong coin ever. It is the father of all coins. Think about if bitcoin were bubble and it did fade away, that time all the crypto money and the markets would fade too. So the bitcoin is the everything in cryptocurrency business..

Until now, bitcoin still giving effect to another crypto especially if bitcoin increase or decrease, the other crypto will move in the same direction. But sometimes, there is a coin that does not receive the effect of bitcoin and still stays or increases and decreases in anytime. But again, the existing of bitcoin will give the impact to the other coin. We can see the example of this in the last year when bitcoin increase higher, but before bitcoin increase, the altcoin is already increased and push the price to the highest price ever but suddenly, bitcoin price is down too deep, and it makes the altcoin come back to the lowest price again and stay in that price until now.

Bitcoin affects almost all altcoins directly. It can even completely submerge even under small increases or decreases. Therefore, I recommend that you keep a part of your spare part instead of the whole of your btc.

bitcoin to me, to a lay man, to majority of the masses is the face of cryptocurrencies. You what happens to branding, where a company's product name takes the face of its category. For instance, people hardly go to stores to ask for 'tooth pastes', rather they say, please can you give me 'close up', close up, because of its marketing strength and strategy, has dominated the category of which it exists on, so this is exactly the same for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. And somehow, bitcoins positive or negative impact on the economy affects other coins. If Bitcoin is crashing, somehow, investors match its strength to other coins. You hear people saying, 'umm, if Bitcoin is doing this badly, then this other coin probably might have issues too'. So positively or negatively, I feel this is one of the ways Bitcoin affects other coins.
