Word, there are a bunch of ETH clones, ETC is just one of many, and not the first, so not very exciting at all...
Not really ETH is a clone of ordinary coins. If you understand how altcoins work, how they are mined and what are the basis then you would come to know how smartly and technically Ethereum has been designed.

But been all said, yeah it's just another altcoin and almost all the altcoins that have enetered the market have dumped their value by a significant amount. So the best way to save is Bitcoins but maybe for regular use you can try with ethereum.
Bitcoins is a better store of value that is true but for every day use I will prefer to use Litecoin instead of Ehtereum, don’t get me wrong ethereum is great but at least to me litecoin seem to be accepted in more places.

I put in about $100 into ETH yesterday and plan on putting another $100 in today. Last I checked, it was around $3 per ETH and now it's at $19 which is absolutely great.

How many of you have invested in ETH and how far do you think it will go in the next couple of years?
Ethereum is once currency you might see will be on song after the recent confirmation issues.
I have a group where we discuss about bitcoins and a lot of members there recently started using Eth as an alternative of bitcoins for fast confirmations. Though I am not among them. So, as far as I can see the price is expected to rise only in coming time.

I cant see ETH getting much higher than it is. Smart contracts are all run on gas, which is charged in ETH. when the cost of simple value transactions is 21000 gas, or 0.00105 ETH, at present prices at about works out to almost 2 cents (1800 satoshi) per simple operation. Complex or persistent operations with smart contract will run much higher. When one looks at the price not from the point of financial speculation, and instead from a developers standpoint..... there will come a time soon when the cost of doing business on the EVM rivals traditional cloud computing subscriptions... and dApp developers will migrate to lower valued ETH based currencies.

It is a better thing for you that after the buy of the ETH by you the price of the ETH got increases and luckily with the small dump it is going increases slowly without stopping .
Here we can't predict for any altcoin Because any coin can go fall down at any time without any hint before .
So here I will suggest you to invest in another altcoins also , so that you can understand that how you can make a pure profit through multiple altcoins trading .

If the ETH does not go to PoS soon and it is distributed more evenly, the price will rise a lot.

Well maybe in the future, but not as much as Bitcoin. Eth has good value and people are showing interest in it as it is the second most popular coin to invest in. But I dont think it will ever beat Bitcoin in market.

ETH usually rolls at about 10% of BTC market cap in good times.  You should measure ETH cap in terms of BTC.  So just like BTC (in terms of dollars), ETC is hovering around its all time high.  Are you?
Not really, because I don't know that 10% thing but if one cryptocoin has helped me gain enormous profits after Bitcoins, is ethereum, and the count is still going up. The price increase not always means that a downfall is coming, sometimes it indicates that the coin is now ready to shatter the old limits and create new records.

thing that scares me is the ETH have unlimited number so that anytime they can dispose of it at a cheap price as well as counterparty and more Smiley

We are all can't make any speculation in an altcoin that has lot of investors today. You can see Dash, Monero, and of course Ethereum. It's all the best altcoins to buy nowadays. An altcoin like etherum make peoples beleive, there is a chance to any Developer to do something to make a bitcoin comparator.
For it future possibilities, I think Ethereum have a good development to grow day by day.

According to the serious development of the ethereum foundation and we will see the successful of the entethereumalliance in the future with backed by a lot of the companies and there is a chance for the ethereum to become more bigger. We can't predict how far it will growth but for a clearly statement, if there will the upcoming development and it will always growth every time. My key is on the enterpriseethereumalliance.

It depends what you mean, you mean what it is the maximum price ETH can reach in this year, even if it it a bubble? Or do you mean what will be the biggest stable price that ETH can reach in this year? Because those two option are very different.

ETH are doing all this stuff with the banks and whatever, most of it in secret. I suspect they are just trying to pump the price and it will go to maybe $30 over the next few months and probably stay there for the rest of the year.

I held onto my ETC when it split which I regretted at first but now I'm cautiously optimistic, the community is finally starting to get organized and address issues with the VM and langsec class of vulnerabilities that even ethereum isn't addressing (another reason I suspect a pump). All the attempted hacks on ETC were probably a great thing for the technology, stress testing and finding solutions. I see ETH as a lot lower risk for the short term but a lot more potential for ETC (but higher risk).

edit: added clarifications

i think $100 is good amount to start with ETH, if the price now is not increase, i think we can waiting for a while until bitcoin reach new price or new floor (or its already gets new floor?). in my opinion, ETH could be back into 0.02 btc but it needs support from the dev and the community.

I see the growth of ETH is a great place for investment because prices continue to rise and significantly once the future will be a success

The real question is : How many capitalization will ETC drain from ETH ?

Vitalik is ETH. The other one, ETC, is nothing. Would a fork of Bitcoin be capable to sustain? I think not.
