I have seen some reputed casinos lagging in this aspect. They make you wait days for a reply to email. There live chats makes you wait for hours. Thus, it makes sense to check the customer support by sending mails or trying live chat before you join the forum. How important is customer support of an online casino for you ?
Sometimes it makes worry about the online gambling but if it is a reputed gambling site that chances of any issue happening is very minimal so they are not much concentrating on these support team but I think they need to have strong support team to increase their trust level and most of the live chat in gambling site are useless because they were assist b the people who don't have any technical knowledge.

I have seen lots of people complain about how the support team is unprofessional and how they do not reply to their messages. The thing is, even real life professional people do not reply instantly. You should just give them time because they have many complaints and I am sure they are doing their best. Therefore, I believe that the support customer is very important because the team is making efforts so they fix all your problems.

Good support is the backbone of any site, not just a casino site but problem is we expect casinos to be super human when they're just human, imagine getting 100, 1000 tickets you do slow down cause each ticket needs a valid reply. While I do agree here that at times they take days and then week but again they're just humans and not robots. I normally do read what problems other face and how it gets tackled and use it, saves time. One should keep realistic expectations from casinos support, how about a praise for all the times they helped you'll no one ever does that just open a support ticket to praise them surely it'll boost their confidence and work rate.

I actually never use the support of those gambling sites where I love to play, just there wasn't a reason for that, everything just work fine and I've never had problems with any gambling site.

it is very useful to inquire about the payment system, if not done directly to credit card. maybe using paypal or something like that, so we need to know and ask customer service if there is not yet understand.

Even though site got a live support those support members will have a limited access so you can expect just a general answer from those members. They still make you wait until their back-end team or admin check your actual issue.

If the site doesn't have a good support slowly they will lose the business to their competitors so all admin needs to give more importance to support their customers on time.

Just imagine a real casino like Wynn or MGM or any business in this world without  customer support? That is just the same with online casinos. There got to be people preferably live chat in order to assist and answer people needs.

Late replies are understandable sometimes especially on delicate cases where reviews are necessary.
