most times its better to hide your wealth, also the kind of people you keep matters a lot. for your own safety, you should try to keep most of your investment to yourself. this doesn't mean you shouldn't tell your friends/family about bitcoin or cryptocurrencies at large but your investment is personal to you so its up to you keep or talk about it. the main issue is that you might know what your friends or even people trust can do once they find out you have so much money so to be on a safe side its better to moderate how you talk about it or flaunt it.

Yes, one should hide from all relatives as they can share with anybody. But , at least tell two trusted persons about all investments so as they can take care of these in case something happens to you.

Not only crypto, you shouldn’t be talking about any of your investments under any circumstances. Don’t tell your friends, family members, your boss, coworkers about it. They don’t need to know your finances. If you make money they will get jealous. If you lose money, they will be happy. Either way they will find a way to make you unhappy. So why do it? Keep it to yourself. You’ll be doing yourself a favor not telling them trust me.
I agree but I make an exception to my immediate family but not with close relatives. Unless they ask about it and eager to hear about you, it's your decision to tell them a bit of your story or better just keep it as a secret.

Whilst jealousy is a real deal not just with your family, relatives and friends. If you're keeping it from them then you shouldn't also tell it to random people or strangers.

Sometimes you might even get robbed because the word is out: “This guy is filthy rich!” There is no way this can bring any good on you. The more attention you gather on yourself, the worse it will be.
Exactly, also might asked for a personal loan but about all of that is you're right about being attacked by a $5 wrench.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
Actually, there is no problem with you boasting that you are a Bitcoin investor, but you have to be careful with your surroundings, the proof is that Michael Saylor, the Winklevoss twins, Jack Dorsey are all safe even though the whole world knows that they have a lot of Bitcoin
In my opinion, what you say is not appropriate or relevant, because you suggest being careful but instead you allow us to brag about our investments. I don't really agree with your opinion, if we have the intention to boast that we are Bitcoin investors, in my opinion it is the same as not having an alert and careful attitude because an arrogant attitude could trigger other people to hate and do bad things to us.
Someone who is careful and alert will certainly never be arrogant and create opportunities to provoke the emotions of other people who are jealous of us to harm ourselves. A careful person will not underestimate anything that does not need to be said or done, such as bragging about the investments they have.
We cannot judge with the naked eye other people's intentions towards us, maybe some of the people you use as examples are still safe, but that cannot guarantee that we will be safe if we follow what they do, right?

As long as you can't maintain the security around you, don't ever tell them that you are a Bitcoin investor, even if it's a small amount.
I completely agree with this, because we must be truly aware of the limits of our abilities and knowledge regarding maintaining the security of our investments. There have been many examples of carelessness when someone or a company that has better knowledge and ability than us to maintain the security of their assets, however they can still experience hacking and theft of their crypto assets.

I've also read somewhere here in the forum that someone got robbed inside his house because he was boasting about his bitcoin wallet through social media and the robber went to her house and was forced to transfer it to the robbers wakket. We learn a valuable lesson from this, just to keep it secret and not boast about it. Also, there is no point showing your portfolio to others because, for sure, they will think that you are boasting to them, so just to be safe, keep quiet on it.
You can imagine. How will this be traced if the owner of the bitcoin wallet decides to find out the identity of the robber that stole his bitcoin forcefully? I can imagine the agony the owner of the bitcoin will be passing through because of his show-off act to impress his or her online friends.

Sometimes as humans, we decide to learn things the difficult way. By the time we achieve that, it will be evident to us that there are activities that are pointless to carry out to demonstrate to our friends that we have achieved financial success

This is a huge lesson for everyone to remember because not all of our friends will wish us well if we brag about our accomplishments to them.

https://protos.com/spanish-police-rescue-crypto-investor-kidnapped-on-holiday/

The first thing that came to my mind after reading this was that one should not talk about his crypto investments with strangers or friends as it can pose various risks. If you are active on forums like bitcointalk and involved in trades, you should not give information which can help others relate to your identity.

Actually, there is no problem with you boasting that you are a Bitcoin investor, but you have to be careful with your surroundings, the proof is that Michael Saylor, the Winklevoss twins, Jack Dorsey are all safe even though the whole world knows that they have a lot of Bitcoin

so, education about crypto is something that governments all over the world have to encourage, many people think that people don't want bitcoin, and many think that it's okay to brag about it to the public when buying bitcoin. As long as you can't maintain the security around you, don't ever tell them that you are a Bitcoin investor, even if it's a small amount.

Underestimate- nothing
One reason to keep your bitcoin investments private is to protect your assets from potential theft or hacking attempts. By keeping your investments secret, you can reduce risk of becoming a target to cybercriminals who may attempt to steal your funds. Some people choose to keep their bitcoin investments private in order to maintain their privacy and avoid unwanted attention. Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public ledger, which means that anyone can view the details of your transactions if they know your wallet address. By keeping your investments private, you can maintain a greater degree of anonymity and protect your personal information.

In addition your assets are best know to you for the main time before you become a victim of thefts  and hackers. as stated because in anyway they find out of your assets that is the day you become a target. In many cases privacy is a very good option. Majority of people have falling victim. And privacy is even the key thing behind bitcoin your exposure can cost you a lot. I just love the design of bitcoin especially the public ledger that gives access to transactions but hide the identity of ownership. And maintaining anomity can also safe you from billing from other people. Once they know you have money they will start disturbing you.

Not only cyber criminial but people around us that has an ill-intention.  We never know whether people around us will change or not once they knew that we have lots of treasure in digital world.  They maybe good to us but we all know how greed can change people.  There are even cases where a member of the family killing their kin just to get the money by themselves.  So it is really important that we keep vigilant and never expose that we are holding that huge amount of Bitcoin or else we might find ourselves in big trouble.

People can even rob you of your assets, and will try to get more information out of you. I can remember something happened to one of my friend when he was neatly robbed just because of is expose to people. So someone just have to be careful with people we role with  not everyone is your friend.  Information is power so we should limit the kind of information we share. People we put eye on you when they know you have money. Plenty of cases of killing just because of taking over the person property. We should please all becareful of what we do.

Get Ready to Make money.
Of course it's important. Only people who are close to me know that I'm investing in crypto, but no one knows how much I keep there, even my parents and GF. And I don't think they'll ever know.

Where it is not necessary to reveal your secrets, you should never do it. Secrets are called secrets because you are meant to keep them a secret. When you are not successful, the number of your friends will increase, and when you are successful, the number of your enemy will increase. If you are involved with crypto, make sure only those who are close to you know about it. In today's world, we cannot trust anyone. This is why we are always advised to keep our privacy safe. And this news totally proves why that is true.

Be safe and keep your privacy safe. There are people everywhere who are willing to harm you. You may not know them now. But when the time will come, you will see them for sure.

The image I saw in the Op's link was very painful because now that Bitcoin is not legal in our country it has to operate with a lot of secrecy. Otherwise, we are in danger because Bitcoin is a completely confidential matter, so you can't discuss Bitcoin with someone who doesn't know about Bitcoin or whom you don't trust. You may get into trouble. When you trade in Bitcoin you must keep it completely confidential and if Bitcoin was legal in our country we wouldn't be facing this problem.

If it is not legal in your country, do not use it.

You may want to move out of the country if it is very important or you make your living based on it.

Want top-notch marketing for your project, Hire me
Yo there's already a case here in my country where they always post it to social media their achievements. Then later on their house got robbed. I know it's hard to resist to share it to someone that you are investing or trading in Bitcoin, but it would just worsen your situation even to your relatives.
There's nothing hard to resist there buddy either people prioritize their life and their crypto investment or prioritize the attention they are trying to get by showcasing their crypto portfolio because there's nothing to benefit or prove from it than endanger their life.
Knowledge is the power they say, if the people that do these things understand the consequence they won't have to do it.

That's why other people prefer Bitcoin since it's decentralized where you can control your assets anonymously.
Yes, Bitcoin is a decentralized coin but it is never an anonymous asset.

I think it is very important to keep a secret from others after investing in bitcoin. But if you don't tell others that it is possible to invest in bitcoin, it would be kind of stupid. Because I have many friends who are interested in investing in bitcoin after seeing my investment. If I had kept it a secret from them, they would have been ignorant about Bitcoin. Everyone has some idea about Bitcoin. If you hold a large amount of Bitcoin, you must be careful of others. This is because greed drives people to anything.  will force you to do bad things. If someone else finds out that you have bitcoins, you will definitely have people behind you to mislead you in various ways about how to take it from you. You can let others know about bitcoins but of course your bitcoin holdings are secret must keep.

I think you don't understand the point of the message posted by the OP because the situation was not about Bitcoin not being a legal tender in the country was the reason why you should keep your BTC holding secret if even BTC is legal tender in your country you still need to keep your holding secret so you won't be the target of the physical attack which exactly what happened the person used by the OP as a case study.

No matter if it is legal or illegal in your country, you shouldn't be announcing it to everyone. This is like saying to everyone by posting on social media that you are withdrawing money from an ATM, which makes you worried, right? After all, when you go to the bank, it will make you worried if someone will try to steal your money. That is why we are quiet about it so that we don't get the attention of the robbers. Always improve our security and be mindful that anyone can rob you, whether friends or family members, because people change hands for the money.

It's always important to be cautious when sharing personal information with strangers or friends. This is especially true when it comes to cryptocurrency investments. It's important to keep your personal information private and not give out any information that can help others relate to your identity.

If you have to hide your hands after buying bitcoin, then don't talk about bitcoin wherever you are. As long as you are in the jurisdiction of any country that prohibit bitcoin, then don't play with fire with it. You shouldn't force yourself to buy bitcoin for any purpose if your country's government doesn't allow you to buy them legally, it's too risky to do.

You can buy and own bitcoin even if your country forbids you from buying them, but if you want to play it safe then don't talk to anyone about bitcoins until your country's government legalizes it. Regarding the privacy of your financial or investment assets, it is clearly your full responsibility.

Sometimes the family could be the one that has more ill-intention that all of the cyber criminals you could find out there just because you have something that could potentially make you rich in the long-term. It's like the usual family toxicity culture around the world especially in Asian countries......like mine. You can never trust anyone that easily even the ones that gave birth to you.

This applies not only to the BTT form, but to any forums and discords and telegram chats popular in our time.

Also, many people forget that being in public places, for example, in a subway car or bus, when you look at the screen of your mobile phone, check portfolio or when entering a password, the curious eyes of a neighboring passenger can also look into it. You won't even notice it. And remember that in some countries for urban security there are high resolution monitor through which personal can see what is on your smartphone.

Just join a single Telegram channel that is crypto related and with plenty of members, you would find out plenty of cloud mining scams in your inbox in less than a week. I had moderated some TG chats back in 2020. Even if you don't tell anyone, just because they know that you're part of a crypto community, they'll try to reach out to you and annoy the fuck out of you.
