The cost of living of in my country is quite alarming, due to the fact that the price of petrol is high, the masses can't afford utilities, adequate food etc . The worst of part of it is that the government is not helping matters at all many graduates are out there searching for job, most of them involve in Internet fraud,  there are many qualified people for a particular job  but due to th corrupt practices in my country the politicians secure job for there children. The rich keep getting richer while the poor get more poor. Everything Is so expensive I'm my country...only God can help us from evil leadership.

Life in my country has become very difficult now because of extreme inflation. The increase in the price of goods has made the life of the people more horrible. It has become difficult for the lower class to live a normal life.

Gas being quite expensive is common all around the world, and it does make EVERYTHING more expensive, from a simple bottle of water to the most expensive you can think of, all of it were made using either gas/oil, or they were transported using it.

However, we need to remember that human labour still doesn't cost any gas at all, hence why the salaries are not growing as much as inflation did, and that's why people are poorer. If inflation was 11% in your nation and your salary increase that year was 8%, you feel like you got richer, and you still be able to cover that small difference by cutting down a small amount, but you are still poorer by definition. This is why every nation is doing terrible now, or at least people of them.

Let's say that the cost of living in a country where I'm in is that, one stable job is not enough especially if you are only earning the minimum wage or you are a minimum wage earner, thank fully I choose the field where the salary is quite high or to be exact in IT field, and right now with continuous increase of inflation rate minimum wage is not enough especially for those who has a family already that's why many people are only living with minimum they can't even enjoy the life because all things are costly. Well we can't control the flow of the economy so the only thing we could do is that we should find our way in order to earn extra, I mean if you want to have a good life where you can buy or get the things you want and need then find your way in order to earn more money if you will settle for less then expect that you will only have a hard time.
yeah the only way to live right now is having side hustle or having two jobs, sacrificing time in exchange for money is the way to go for average people, minimum wage won't cut it since we all pretty much already know that minimum wage can't really keep up with inflation.

for the people that could still get some money left despite having minimum wage because maybe they live frugal live and live alone in rather affordable apartment or some kind, always try to seek more opportunities through education and investments, I think its the only lucrative way of increase the chance to make higher income, otherwise we'd be stuck forever having minimum wage and jobs that pays minimum wage usually aren't really stable.

currently i'm grinding hard to increase my wealth through investment as well as getting my second degree, hope it pays off but no one can be sure and I also have my share of doubts that maybe my investment in education will turn into waste of money.
its overall tough situation the inflation does really eating up our money bit by bit, eventually it will become unbearable if government don't intervene or don't have any good solution. at some point there will be no more middle class but only rich people and poor people.

Hi Guys,

I'm curious to know if there is a cost of living crisis in your country and if you are feeling the effects of rising goods and services.

I'm Australian, and the inflation rate in 2023 was over 4%.

I have noticed significant increases for everyday essentials like food, petrol and utilities.

The cost of petrol is around $2.10AUD per litre, which is insane.

Let's hope things improve in the near future because the current state of things is unsustainable.
In my country Bangladesh, the prices of goods are constantly increasing day by day, as a result of which the standard of living has become so poor that the common people are struggling to live a good life. I have beef at $8 per kg, rice at 60 cents per kg, sugar at $1.2 per kg.  Potatoes at 70 cents per kg. It has become difficult for common people like me to support the family with low income money.  If this continues, we will have to face a major disaster in the distant future.

Here in my country, we have rent at least around 60-100 dollars per month which is more likely capable only to couples like one bedroom, kitchen, and small spaces for your things, if you want bigger spaces you will increase additional cost, also the location matters too if it's nearby with the stores, highway, etc which is having quick access with the necessities. Regarding with the food seems like for the four person at least 10 dollars per day for the whole meal I'm talking about the lower-middle class status downwards.

Things are increasing day and night. And I don't blame the government but the electorates because they decided to put the wrong person in place to suffer us. I was not really thinking of this to be like this. Everything is just jeopardy and the government is not doing anything to douse the situation.
A government that is elected by its own people does not deserve to be completely blamed because it really starts with choosing the leader during the election, so the thing that really needs to be corrected in depth is the party that chooses the leader themselves. That is why every citizen should not choose a leader carelessly if they still care about the country's economic progress and also the welfare of the people equally in every corner of the country. Because it is wrong to put someone in charge of a country, there will also be bad consequences for the people themselves so that it is the people who will feel all the suffering in whatever form it takes.
I feel that there are a lot of truly honest people in government, but the problem is that people who are selfish are more willing to speak out than honest people. I believe that what is more dangerous is honest people who are silent than people who are dishonest but they always talk.
I agree with you that we cannot blame the government completely, because we also take part in voting, especially if it is a democratic country. But once again there are always unscrupulous individuals who always want their own profit and that is a disease in government.
Things like this make people victims, for example the corruption they commit and this causes enormous losses to the country.

Inflation is a bastard and that is the more reason why Bitcoin is gonna put an end to inflation and financial slavery as almost every country one way or the other
~

*Only if the people choose to use Bitcoin.

You can't really help anyone if they don't want to use Bitcoin, as Bitcoin and other established, large cryptocurrencies are the only way you can actually escape inflation while having a sort of legal tender which you can spend anywhere and has this huge network of services for buying, selling and even loading on a card.

For me, the cost of living in my country now depends on a person's job. Many people now work but the salary is not suitable, some are even willing to work according to the working hours and the salary is not much, therefore many people commit crimes such as robbery and others.
In my country it is very difficult to get a job, there are many conditions that make people afraid to do the job, that's why from what I see, many Indonesians choose to work in other countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and others.

Crime occurs because people don't work but are addicted to gambling, from there they commit crimes, not because they want to, but because circumstances force them to do it in such a way, because they don't need much income, they just spend their time gambling and getting drunk every day. drunkenness, something like that must be dealt with firmly because it disturbs many people, disturbs the peace of society due to their actions, therefore we must take care of each other, so that undesirable things don't happen, if there aren't any in our own country. vacancies try trying to migrate to other countries, many people are successful by migrating to other countries.

I totally agree with you, as cost of living is like living in hell because of how hard life is for someone to survive.

Just like you said, price of things is very hard and difficult for one to afford, and to have a job is very difficult to get. The way things are in my country has made most of our youths to start indulging themselves in some kind of illegal activities and our government is not actually doing anything which is why corruption is getting higher each day but we pray that God will always see us through and we will also try our best to survive even when it's not easy.

I believe that anyone who gets involved in illegal activities simply because their government refuses to do what is necessary to fight corruption is just interested in getting involved because there are many jobs available in every country that can put food on the table. However, most of our youths do not have patience, they always want to live like their friends and buy expensive clothes. I agree that we come from a country where our governments do not care about our survival and the cost of products is increasing every day, but I wouldn't encourage any of us to get involved in any illegal activity.

Also, the cost of living has created problems in every country, even people with jobs are no longer enjoying their salaries because the prices of the products they pay for keep increasing while their salaries remain the same. Workers in my country are demanding increases in salaries because they cannot continue with the cost of living while their monthly earnings do not change.
But still not a solid reason for you to commit crime or something that would really be illegal but well each person does have their own personal reasons on why the do end up on that path on which its not really something that recommended because if we do talk ways and methods then there are really indeed ways for making ourselves that better but due to lack of those opportunity or even having that hardtime on getting one then this is where
people do end up into this kind of solution. Its not something recommended since once you do get caught then you would really be that imprisoned but due to tough situation then people would really betaking up such risks.
This is why on the moment that you've seen yourself on hard situation because of lacking money or income then it would really be better that you should be finding alternative no matter how small it would be.

We are living in a world where economic situation becoming shit as the years passing by and hitting up with inflation on which makes things even more harder and challenging. If you are someone
who is really just that contented on what they do have now and wont really be tending to make up some changes or additional income, then sooner or later you would
really be able to felt out on what are the things that you would be able to encounter and making up those huge regrets that you didnt act out fast.

In the country I belong to, human life is cheap and things are expensive. There is a serious money crisis. Jobs are not available. No matter how educated you are, if you don't have a good recommendation, you can't land a good job even in the private sector.

Food and drink items are very expensive and if we talk about private hospitals and schools, a normal person can't even afford them. Rising inflation and taxes have left the common people worried. I don't think your country can be better off than mine. Everyone can only hope that inflation will decrease in the future and people's lives will improve. It should be easy to provide and taxes should be completely abolished for the poor.

It is sad to say that our country is full of particles and minerals, but due to corrupt government and politicians, poverty is increasing day by day in the country and people are deprived of jobs, even those who are farmers are not doing their work. Due to which the courage of the farmers has also been broken, if this continues, I am afraid that very soon our country will be defaulted.

Inflation is a bastard and that is the more reason why Bitcoin is gonna put an end to inflation and financial slavery as almost every country one way or the other is experiencing inflation as the world is going towards economic crisis and recession however, in my country last year December 2023, the inflation rate was 28.92% as against the inflation rate in December 2022 which was 21.34% that is to show that it increased by 7.58% in December 2023 while in April 2024, the inflation rate rose to 33.69% which means that the inflation rate from December 2023 to April 2024 rose by 4.77% high. This is to show that instead of the inflation rate to reduce it's still increasing thereby making the cost of goods and services high and making livelihood difficult for the common man and woman and this inflation is suffered by many even when high percentage of people in the country doesn't have a job or are on low income salary range.

In recent years, inflation have been on the increase and a major setback to the development of the country and it tends to make life even more difficult as an average family can hardly afford three square meal in a day which also means that the inflation rate of the country has made many suffer abject poverty and unable to afford daily needs. When we talk about building materials or the cost of accommodations in the country, the cost of petroleum products, the cost of transportation and all that almost everything is on the increase.

Yes, inflation is terrible and it is slowly killing us, but I wonder how will bitcoin end inflation? Inflation is not only the result of the Government printing money in an uncontrolled way, but inflation is also the result of an imbalance in supply and demand, the gap between supply and demand is too large. And there are thousands of causes of supply and demand imbalance, the Covid pandemic is also one of the causes.

Bitcoin has potential and has many benefits but to say it will solve inflation or poverty by adopting bitcoin, which is an exaggeration. We need more than one solution and it is not as easy as we think, just the government stops printing money and inflation will disappear.

Yes Bitcoin can put an end to inflation if we continue to accumulate and HODL and it's adoption continues to increase such that the 21 million Bitcoin is totally mined because after that time it will become a long term asset and may likely become a stable coin since there will be no supply anymore except if the need arise. However, even if the government stops printing money it can't completely end inflation because inflation is driven by a lot of factors.

Bitcoin is just an asset and a deflationary asset like bitcoin is very anti-inflationary , but it is perfect when used on an individual , institutional level...As for the inflation of a country or the entire world economy , bitcoin will almost not solve the problem.
As I said , there are many causes of inflation and keeping the world in balance is not as easy as we think . For example, the world population is growing rapidly and is difficult to control, thereby making managing and balancing supply and demand an almost impossible problem to completely solve. Therefore , controlling inflation is much more complicated than we imagine .

I have never denied the potential of bitcoin but we need to be realistic and need to accept the fact that bitcoin is not a god and can solve all the problems in the world.

I was not really thinking of this to be like this. Everything is just jeopardy and the government is not doing anything to douse the situation.

The people are the problem even though we voted for people who are not competent, we are also part of those who are making things very expensive because it is not the government that is making things expensive it is the same individuals like us, and now the love of money has driven the whole country into a very tight condition, Instead of the government also laying down policies to control things, they just leave things for individuals to control, People need to be guided because they are just to greedy, and since most of the production companies are owned by them, they won't regulate anything just because of their interests. and since they chose their interests over the interests of the people, they have corrupted the economy and the price of things is just out of their control and the government needs to act on time.

A government that is elected by its own people does not deserve to be completely blamed because it really starts with choosing the leader during the election, so the thing that really needs to be corrected in depth is the party that chooses the leader themselves. majority of countries operate democratically but can not even speak for themselves anymore These are people choosing to represent, and when they get theirs, all they do is spend public funds, and these days they do everything possible to rig the election This shows that they can go to any lengths just for them, and during the election, you see people selling their votes just because they want money they don't even care the amount they will still sell their vote and when the person is elected when thing are going the other way around, they start complaining and that did not mean that they won't sell their vote next time.

Usually in almost all countries, the salary of government employees will be able to meet living needs even though it is not luxurious, maybe what you mentioned is just the basic salary without including allowances because usually government employees will be looked after by the state for their welfare and also their old age.
I think in almost all countries, whatever work is done, you will be able to survive as long as a person is willing to work, the meaning of survival is to fulfill basic needs, not to live in luxury.

This is also the case in my country, I see that many people in my area are able to survive with their own lifestyle, even though there are also those who don't get decent jobs but with odd part-time jobs are able to meet the needs of themselves and their families.
That is 99% of the world but not every nation. Most of the time, if government is paying you directly, that means they are paying you at minimum an amount that would mean you could afford rent, food, clothes and medical stuff, which is bare minimum and you should be happy with it.

Depends on the size of the family too, if you have one government income from a dad, and mom doesn't work and they have 4 kids, that is not going to be enough, but if you are a single person, and get paid, then you may live very comfortably as well. These are all important parts of the information to make sure we know the difference, otherwise it is not that simple to make that difference. In the end, it is quite important for everyone to have a base income.

Inflation is general. It’s in every country on earth. Unless the country doesn’t use fiat (which isn’t possible because what then are you using as legal tender). In the next couple of years, the cost of petrol would likely be more than that. And even if it isn’t, other items like food items, or clothes would cost more. How you’d know this is when you look back to how it used to be, you can see the trend of inflation.
Before, things used to increase on either annual basis, two years or more. But now, things are increasing like hourly not even monthly. something that you just purchased few hours ago, going back again like in the evening, you will see that they will tell you another price that's more than before. The problems that most countries are facing today, are caused by the government. Removal of fuel subsidy, unification of foreign exchange and leveling of taxes on companies and industries have made things difficult for people. In my society today, people are suffering. their income are not up to their expenditures. Still things are going up.

I think it all depends on the country you’re in. For some countries, the cost of things hasn’t really seen much changes in couple of months while some are probably seeing frequent changes. Irrespective of what country you would name, I would agree that it is suffering for your income to not cover your expenses. This is what makes people work for the whole of their lives. Because they don’t even see a window to save their retirement money as they haven’t even completed their bills. I guess it’s to monitor how you live and try to adapt to how others are living.

It's alright at the moment though it was a whole lot better in the past just like almost any country out there. COVID screwed the entire world in more ways than one and its effects won't completely disappear anytime soon.

I feel fortunate though since there isn't any crisis ongoing in my country currently and I hope it stays that way for a long time in the future.

I'm curious to know if there is a cost of living crisis in your country and if you are feeling the effects of rising goods and services.

Regarding the crisis this year in my country, it is safe, but the price of goods has continued to increase since the Covid disaster struck.
The goods sector is experiencing increasingly complex problems, especially those directly related to food supply and the services sector is not having much of an impact even though it is also experiencing a blow.

Quote
I have noticed significant increases for everyday essentials like food, petrol and utilities.
Prices for these commodities have indeed increased and there is no hope of them falling again, so people with middle to lower incomes will definitely experience a huge impact.
This complexity occurs because people have difficulty balancing income and expenses, causing problems that are difficult to overcome. Job availability will also become fewer and opportunities to make money will become increasingly difficult to keep up with.
