Depends on the coin. We have some coins that we pre mined in the first days of their announcements and some of those are a year old or more. The wallets take up nearly no space and we run through a spreadsheet we have of them and cross reference versus the markets every other day. I think that a year is about max for that, but it depends on the action on the forums, the exchanges and others things.

probably until the price is suited to the price of ICO or the price is higher than the price when buying.
Usually I hold certain coins when I see the price is profitable and it is worth selling about the price. I intend to hold in my portfolio just to earn profit for holding in a long term investment. However, when you hold a certain coins we have to make sure if the coins has its good development and you know the update of their project.

all crypto is unreliable to a degree! there are going to be
price fluctuations and some coins will have bigger ones
up and down than others. And these movements are
as a result of many influences.

There are a few like the longer standing alt coins which
are reliable to a degree, Ethereum, Dash, Monero, Litecoin,
Ripple, Zcash.....

I will hold coins till they reach their recent high, if they cross their recent high and still moving up then i will buy again and wait for new highs.
If i invest in coins, i will hold them till they reach the level where i can change my lifestyle or till i become super rich. I will suggest you to invest in altcoins and leave them for 1 to 3 years, you will get super profits.

Hi i am still new to cryptocurrency world. is altcoin reliable? I mean when you look at the coinmarketcap it goes down and the volume is (?) and it goes lower than ICO? the graphics seems scary.

first you must think on why would you invest to that certain coin or what else you wanted to invest, then the next thing is that, if you are already sure about what you are going to invest then try to risk some little amounts that you can afford to lose. well to tell you the truth either you gain or loss in trading but when you are already well experienced you can risk bigger amounts, and its up to you if you are going to hold it or sell it instantly, just keep in mind that your main goal is to  earn not to lose.

Yes, I also divide for solid and for speculation. And for trading I have part of solid of course. Because solid and heavy also have exchange rate fluctuations and allow to enlarge count of solid coins.

as long as it is necessary and not a second longer.

some coins are never worth holding on to, they perform very well for about a day or two and then it is all downhill from there! obviously you should never hold these coins for more than a day or two.

but some coins are more solid. like XMR and LTC. they rise slowly and remain high after their rise ended and the correction occurred. if you hold these coins for longer you won't regret it. although you should make sure not to buy on top and then hold!

Hi guys! if you trade,  how long do you hold your coins?. How would you know if you have to let go or sell you coins or still have to keep it?.
Here in this field if you want to make money  by trading then you don't need to wait for time , I means to say that there is no limit to hold the coins if you want make profit .
Suppose you bought any coin say A then you need to wait to sell this coin until its price increase but here nothing is sure that when the price will increase fastly because here all things depends upon the demand only and popularity of the coin that can take 5-6 months also.
Here in my whole life trading i waited for most 3+ month only , so probably you can expect maximum of 6 month to increase the price of any coin .
And also trading is a job of patience also because if you can wait with patience then you can make money  otherwise if you will get fear to loss money then you will surely loss because of sell .

Hi guys! if you trade,  how long do you hold your coins?. How would you know if you have to let go or sell you coins or still have to keep it?.

I set percentage targets, and start selling in stages once there is a 10% rise. So I'll sell a portion at a 10% rise, I'll sell another portion at a 15% rise and so on.

Alts are very volatile and it's hard to know when a pump will end, so if you have profits, take some of them.

Don't be greedy when you are trading . If the profit is enough , then sell it . Don't wait for bigger profit , or you will loose your profit. That's my rule for invest. Wink
Yes, you are completly right, the bancor is a big lesson, I had 50% profit but I chose to hold it, now the price is below the ICO price, a sad story.

It all depends on how you trade, what trading strategy you adhere to, what kind of coin you are trading from the market and so on... But personally I'm trying to sell for x3 or more altcoins increasing the number of its Bitcoin and Ethereum.

It is upto the holder to which extent he wanted the profit and how much value the coin project is. Because some coin projects are very longterm so they have to be holded for long if you want high returns if not 2 or 3x is always possible on almost all coins.
