I know this is a problem for any new investor's in this crypto field. So many coins come to the market since last two years. We can find whats the best coins in cryptocurrency market using following things.
1. Whats the project
2. Who is the team members
3. Who is the community manager.
4. Who is the CEO

And whats the blockchain technology (ERC20) then we can get some idea about best coins valuation.

To know which coins are goods always look out to the best well known company in this business and look for the whitepaper that have details about the company to know if there are trustworthy enough and make own research about them to gain a lots of information and knowledge.
There are lot of factors which decide the future of the coins. Good ICO profile, best project team, good vision and product etc. will cause to success of the project. but there are so many fact rather than mentioned fact which cause to success of the project. so it is better to read whitepaper and consider about those fact before investing for the coins.
The best thing to do when gauging the value of a coin is to read and get all the information possible from its whitepaper, this will give you an in depth understanding of what you are dealing with , where you are about to put your money, The White paper will explain what the project is all about and what it offers the market, how it will be useful it will be in the market, then do a little more research and see if the gap it seeks to fill is empty, if the coin improves the market then go for it

perhaps by the way you see from its growth and its popularity because altcoin can be seen from its growth and its potential as many people choose the best altcoin to invest and trade because they too are looking for profits from the altcoin

You do not need to be confused about choosing a good coin. Because you only need to see and monitor it from the project Whitepaper. From Whitepaper already seen if the project is good or not. So you should look for more details about the coin you are going to buy. I think this way will help you in determining good coins. Thank You
Refer to the documentation of the coin on what its function. Read the whitepaper, and also please refer to the roadmap for the possible events of your tokens that might go the price high. Also if that coin is too much demands im pretty sure that the coin you are holding to is a good coin.
