Water is important as it is one of our essential needs in order to live. To prevent water pollution, we should start disposing our garbage properly and segregating them so they wont end up in the bodies of water.

During recent years there has been increasing awareness of, and concern about, water
pollution all over the world, and new approaches towards achieving sustainable
exploitation of water resources have been developed internationally. It is widely agreed
that a properly developed policy framework is a key element in the sound management
of water resources.

Water pollution is having a devastating effect on our rivers, oceans, and lakes. It kills fish and harms the biodiversity of all marine life including plants, crustaceans and marine mammals. Water pollution is responsible for previously plentiful species being driven to the brink of extinction.

Moreover most of the water that we drink comes from treated water derived from rivers, underground water sources and reservoirs. Polluted water is much more difficult, time-consuming and costly to treat in order to make it suitable for drinking. This is another reason to control water pollution.

We can only stop water pollution if we can be able to effectively dispose all the liquid or solid wastes that are generated in industries; like burning or other

First be disciplined and responsible enough to your garbage disposal, do not dump your garbage or trash to the river or seas, help our mother nature to recover the damage that made by us by planting more trees.

Even if the garbage is dumped far away from the water bodies and the oceans, they will be washed up during the rains. Plastic garbage can be found in massive amounts even in regions as far away as Antarctic and Greenland.

I think we should reduce water consumption, establish a sewage treatment system in cities, control agricultural non-point source pollution, and strengthen the planning and management of water resources so that we can make good use of water resources and reduce water pollution.

All these are good ideas, but it needs to be seen whether the municipal authorities take them seriously or not. In my city, the water pollution has reached alarming levels and the authorities keep saying that they don't have any funds to clean up this mess.

The term water pollution means the water which is harmful to all living things. Water is a very important element of human environment. It is an essential element of nature because it saves all kinds of lives on earth. Clean water is healthful but polluted water is very harmful. Nowadays water pollution is one of the serious problems that humanity face. Water pollution refers to the contamination of water by filth, waste or other substances. It can be polluted in many ways. Water is polluted by using chemical fertilizers and  various insecticides in the land when they are washed away by rain or flood. Mills and factories throw their waste products into rivers and canals and thus pollute water. Again motor launches and steamers pollute water by throwing oil, food waste and human waste. Another aspect is pollution of underground waste by arsenic. By drinking this polluted water, we often get sick and may even die. So, we must prevent water pollution at any cost. Water can be purified by boiling it and using purifying tablets. All concerned must be conscious to keep water free from pollution. Government should take all, for a healthier and a happier life. Massive awareness must be created against water pollution.

To solve the problem of water pollution this is what you should do:
Refuse : Say no to water pollution
Recycle: recycle water
Reduce : minimize use of water
Avoid using the toilet as a wastebasket. Most tissues, wrappers, dust cloths, and other paper goods should be properly discarded in a wastebasket. The fiber reinforced cleaning products that have become popular should never be discarded in the toilet.

Fashion is the 2nd most most polluting industry. It has a big impact on water in the countries where clothes are produced. Since two years, I try to not buy anything new. Only second hand products.
We need to open our eyes and face the consequences of our comsuption that is totally exaggerated. To really have a positive impact on ocean an rivers, we need to slow down our consumption

I totally agree with you. It's now almost 40 years that we live in a world of overconsumption. We often buy stuff that we don't even need, me the first. I do think that population have to become aware of this overconsumption and its impacts on our planet and slow down about that. But companies and governments have to set up more means to fight water pollution. Yes, there are already some in place, but it's not enough. Companies always want to make profit, and don't care about its consequences. If they don't do anything about that, things won't be able to change, even if voluntaries try hard to keep ocean clean.

Water pollution is a leading cause of death. It causes many a death every day. Water pollution has many sources the most severe is the city sewage and industrial waste discharged into rivers, and to reduce it a regular qualitative and quantitative monitoring of fresh water resources, construct proper sanitary landfill sites, investigate ground water quality, provide government help for waste management by industries.
