What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?

First of all, you should pay attention to the sites you enter, because there may be virus called 'keylogger' on the link you clicked, so, 'keylogger' can read everything you write, and they can steal your password.
if you keep coin in the exchange, your password should be very strong, and you should definitely use 2FA. But, if you keep like .dat, you should keep that file hidden.

What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?
If you are using MyEtherWallet.com ( MEW ). I advise you to read their safety tips. You can check it out when you visit the site. You can protect your funds by keeping your private key because that was the key to access your MEW. Which is very important, so don't gave it to others and also don't loss it. Why ? if you loss your MEW private key, means that you can no longer access to your account and it was time to say good bye to your altcoins. So be careful.

What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?
getting a hardware wallet is a good idea. paper wallets also work fine as long as you take good measures. you can also use a old laptop/pc or new raspberry pi only to use it for crypto related transactions. never treat online wallets or exchanges as your personal wallet.

What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?

Work only from PC/Laptop don't use mobile wallets, and shared networks.
Keep your coins in wallets where you own private keys, make enough backups and don't store them on your PC/Laptop
Avoid clicking links in your email when you not sure where it came from, a lot of phishing emails circulating nowadays.
Bookmark all the wallets, exchanges and others sources you use on the daily basics.
Get a hardware wallet for maximum protection, buy it only from manufacturer, never from re-sellers.

Some excellent points here already, but I would add that you should ALWAYS enable 2fa where ever possible

Use to work with your wallet a separate safe device, not the computer that you use every day.

What do you mean protect them ? Are you referring to your storage of altcoins like wallet ? If you are using MyEtherWallet. The best way to protect it is to take care of your private key. Don't allow anyone to have it. As long as your private key is safe and no one knows, your altcoins are safe too. Protect yourself, protect your funds.

You and only you are responsible for your security.
1. Be diligent to keep your private key and password safe. Your private key is sometimes called your mnemonic phrase, keystore file, UTC file, JSON file, wallet file.
2. If you lose your private key or password, no one can recover it.
3. If you enter your private key on a phishing website, you will have all your funds taken.

And if you lose your private key or password, it is gone forever. Don't lose it.

Make a backup of your private key and password. Do NOT just store it on your computer. Print it out on a piece of paper or save it to a USB drive.
Store this paper or USB drive in a different physical location. A backup is not useful if it is destroyed by a fire or flood along with your laptop.
Do not store your private key in Dropbox, Google Drive, or other cloud storage. If that account is compromised, your funds will be stolen.
If you have more than 1-week's worth of pay worth of cryptocurrency, get a hardware wallet. No excuses. It's worth it. I promise.

First of all, you must be very careful and careful. Never make rash acts. Before you do something, think carefully and only then do it. Never click on links that you do not know. Enter passwords and keys only on trusted sites and store them not on the computer.

The best and the cheapest way to protect your coins is by storing them offline.Google how to create a paper wallet, store your private keys and lock them alongwith your fiats.

This will be the best way to protect them from the hackers, if you are on a low budget.

If you can throw in some money for protection, then go for hardware wallets like Nanoledger or Trezor.I prefer nano.ALbeit, make sure that you keep the passphrase safe with you.You can use a encrypted external storage to save your passphrase.Or write it down on your wall and cover it up with wallpapers XD

An advise:DON'T STORE YOUR COINS IN AN EXCHANGE.NEVER!
Use exchange for what they are meant for, never store your alts there.Exchanges are targeted by hackers 24*7, one door and pooof! Your money is gone!!
Even huge exchanges like Bittrex gets attacked. And the most recent one was coinsecure, lost 438 bitcoins in an attack. So exchanges are a NOno!

I hope this will help you in protecting your coins Smiley)

What is the best methods to protect altcoin from hacker?
take care of your private key, passwords and dont click any suspicious link that has been sent to you through pm, shared on any social media sites, etc. the only reason why hackers have the access on your account is because they successfully get your key.
That's why obviously the best way of securing the wallet is to keep the keys on printed paper somewhere but nowhere on your PC. I think that keeping passwords in Telegram is also safe, though, since it is encrypting messages. Of course, in this case you have to be sure your phone will not get stolen. Anyway, it is also worth to mention that the wallet website better be bookmarked or saved somewhere from the email messages instead of being accessed via google, because there're lots of very good fake websites, that can track what you type and type that on the real website soon after that. In general, it is important not to tell anyone any information that might help accessing you wallet. And you'd better put strong passwords on every account you have in case you hold some info on passwords online.

Clear all the history on your computer every week or so. This will higher your chances that you aren't getting phished or key logged. I would also invest in anti-virus as well as hardware wallets that disconnect your private keys from your computer. Having all these things should be ample for security.

Stop clicking suspicious links and pop ups, check if the website is secure and always check anything you're going to download.

The biggest criticism is not hacker, but in your forgetfulness to keep all the data.
Carelessness will also impact failure,
if you are nervous and hunt for the latest information.
You may store data in a safe place, fill all the security until layered.
