Why stay away from gambling?  It's a very valid form of entertainment.  If it ceases to be fun and causes strife, then find an alternative form of entertainment....Find something that is enjoyable and something that you can do with another as a means of support....Porn is good!

as many have said, nowadays it is quite hard to stay away from computer cause most of our lives rely on computers too much. So we should look for another way instead of just avoid it.

Yeah, most of us in our day jobs has a computer beside us.. So avoiding it would have no effect, and I think, we should examine our selves, why we are gambling, for what purpose...if it's for money then we must really look for a new alternative, the one that we don't have to risk our money...

one way if they've become addicted to the weight and try to stay away from gambling is the destruction due to gambling, I believe they will stop once they realize that gambling has ruined their lives.

Try doing some training for yourself. For example, if a whole day passed and you didn't gamble even if you urge to, you get yourself a pizza or smth that you want. Like a little reward for your action. You can get other people involved with this reward, like your wife or some member of your family.

You can try doing punishment to yourself. This isn't a good punishment but this might get you to try to discipline yourself. Whenever you gamble, you wouldn't eat for 24hours. You can tell your wife to not give you food, lock the ref, etc. Once you get a little traumatized with this starvation thing, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to have this punishment again. Thus, pushing yourself to not gamble.  Smiley

Then you will end up dead of starvation by the time you realized that your cure of your addiction or maybe not!

I think punishment isn't really needed but although this is just way to extreme to do in my opinion because what you really need is some proper attention from a psychiatrist on what he/she think on your level of distress, and if you really need rehabilitation is his/her go signal!

Well, that was my point. Quit gambling or you'll die of hunger.

Yup! your opinion really is that deadly hehe well I respect your opinion and I am just saying my opinion to yours well as at  least that is a great opinion, the only problem is you'll be dead in attaining your goals with it. and your right might as well quit in gambling in the first place!

yeah, he will definitely die if he is unable to win on gambling and he is continuously spending each of his penny over there and do not care about other activities of life and do not care about other needs of the day and his family also.
Gambling is a place of entertainment, not a factory for labours to earn their living at there so invest that amount which you specified in your budget for entertainment.

try to focus on new things may make you leave gambling
New things should not be related to gambling. Maybe by spending more time with families and friends rather that sitting in front of your computer the whole day.

so essentially we just have to control ourselves to stop gambling or you tell someone to remind you, if you go back to gamble.

It won't help if someone keep on reminding you, you'll just nod your head when they're reminding you and when they're out, you'll do what you have to do. and when you're keep on doing the same thing, that person will be tired reminding you and would be irritated and annoyed (Saying this with my personal experience).

Obviously we have to keep ourself busy with other things, friends or family or any other things and never think of gambling for awhile or think of the risks involved.

If you feel you can handle it just make sure to stay away from a pc/desktop or whatever you use to gamble. If you can control it make sure to find somethign else to do so you are too busy for gambling.

yes this might work if your really not addicted with gambling and sometimes it can not affect you a lot in doing this, because if you are really addicted this piece of advice is nothing because the will of an addicted in gambling is really something.

hard to get away from the pc / desktop because it has become their daily lives. trying to spend all the capital, and when it is possible that you will stop gambling.

Today pc or laptop are very important. at least in our lives. It will not suddenly happen that we just go out and forget about it. I would recommend to start creating an aversion against gambling and so you perhaps will hate it.

make your days always busy with something great than gambling
like go camping picnic or just hang out with your friends or families
and try to forget gambling for a while

If he/she already addicted to gambling it's hard to do that. Even for a while you forget about gambling, the problem is when you are alone or have a free time. I'm pretty sure he/she will still think and soon will play. It drive them nuts if they can't play, making a way or other reasons just to play.

If you feel you can handle it just make sure to stay away from a pc/desktop or whatever you use to gamble. If you can control it make sure to find somethign else to do so you are too busy for gambling.
well it might work , but it would be complicated if the guy who want to stay away from gambling are work on something that always need/require a pc/desktop
the only way to quit from all of this is pay some professional gambling psychiatrist or you can visit here for example http://www.thehillsclinic.com.au/gambling-addiction-treatment/.

yup. sometime staying away from pc/desktop can be a very huge challenge especially your work/lifestyle/habit is evolved around using of pc. Usually, family support and friend support is the most important. of course, professional help can greatly help to improve the conditions. It will takes months to overcome.
for example my friend which an addicted gambler have recovered from the addiction after go to pro gambling psychiatrist.
it takes time a little longer to make recovering from gamble addiction , in my friend case he claim over 1 year consultation and he feel better. and yeah family support too.
As they say prevention is better that cure, if one is already addicted to gambling that is really hard to cure, it requires acceptance from a a gambling addict itself in order to cure the disease. Also, my observation are most of the gambling addicts does not have a good relationship with their family, maybe they just consider gambling as way to entertain themselves so much that is why it already become part of their life which they cannot let go of it anymore.

There are things more important than gambling, that we should always think. You just wasted time when you delegate that time. I agree avoid using PC but we can not say that either if it will work, there are possibilities that he can visit there again on gamble on site in case he need to use the PC again .
