Gambling is very much like smoking.

Use your brain, control yourself. Both of those habits will destroy you in the end. There is no exception.

Ask this to yourself? "Do i want to live?"

If the answer is "yes" then stay the fck away.

-drinking is fine btw as long as you can control yourself-

keyword is "control"
Gambling and smoking indeed are same in addictive condition, but it is different if you compare like this : can gambling for fun? Yes. Can smoking for fun?of course not.

"Control" is easy word but it is hard to act like that, it is not a concrete solution.
Boht are fun because it depends on the person who's doing it. Now it will only be sad if you lost in gambling and you get disease in smoking.

Both are fun and both have a sure way to destroy your life. If only there are gross images in gambling like in packages of cigarettes. I heard pictures of lung cancer in cigarette packs is a good way to prevent people from smoking. If they have something like that on gambling, people will gamble less. Anyway, self control cannot be trusted if you are already an addict.
yess you were right about both a sure way to destroy your life but i don't agree with both are fun part , smoking are not fun at all (i am not smoker by the way) but gambling yes it is.

sadly a casino always showing a luxury, a glamour thing which can make people fall into it. can you imagine if a casino showing something opposite to a luxury and glamour?it might help addicted gambler.

Don't you think the reason why they got addicted to gambling is because they lost control of themselves? And now you're telling them to 'control' themselves? Roll Eyes

It might be easy to say for a normal person to an addict to take control. But control's the very thing that they lost. It doesn't work that way, buddy. If someone's there to help them control themselves, then maybe that 'control' will work.

If they can't control themselves then they are dangerous.  Just tie 'em up in a hospital and don't let them out till they got it:)

LOL my point was they can't control themselves to not gamble. Not like they got insane or smth. They just can't stop gambling.

That is something to Struggle about Addiction yup! if you are addicted to gambling you are mostly can't control your betting and never want to stop in playing gambling, and there are certain levels of this addiction that needs to be seen by a psychiatrist they are the one who will advice in what to do in case this sign have seen in an addicted person.

Turn your gambling addiction into something that is socially acceptable and low risk to yourself. Like investment banking, then you can gamble on the stock market with other people's money.

Yeah that's the answer. Spot on.

That is what i am doing lately. Also you can learn new languages if finance is not enough Smiley Both are better than smoking or gamling in every fckn aspect.

Haha smoking and gambling are usually negative activities. Any other activities will be better. But i really love the idea of becoming a stock broker and use other people money to gamble while you take a commission on it.

that would be cool but in order to become a stock broker or even a professional gambler you need to have a good history and have gathered a lot of trust and even then many people will not trust you with their money especially not trusting you to gamble it for them.

Any addiction is actually rooted into something else, something that keeps you from living the normal life. I think it's best if you should just try and figure this out first.

Spend a lot of time with friends is not make you will not gambling, you still place a bet using android phone. It's will not work, all of this is back to yourself even though you stay on the pc almost everyday if you dont want gamble.

Even people with strong religious beliefs could prefer gambling over not if they're addicted. Unless their willpower is that much more powerful, and they're addicted to their religion even more than they are to gambling.

Yes, the key is to find someone that can hold you fully accountable for your finances (probably because it affects them too.) Someone that you respect and isn't going to be easily fooled. It should be someone  who is willing to deal out some real consequences if you make the wrong decisions.
The person who is holding you accountable may get the help they need from this group. http://www.gam-anon.org/

I think that site will help a lot of addicted gamblers or players here in this thread, well mostly you have concern for other gamblers and want them to deal with their addiction I think this is the best way for them to settle down in their bets.

ya this thread a lot of advice to stay away from gambling, because we care. but I think they will never practice it, or try to really to stay away from gambling.

Yup! you said it, people mostly try to make an advice to somebody but in themselves they can't really do it! some people here are very good in giving advice that is so true but very hard on applying it on them!

Just focus on your goals, it's earning not wasting.
Control yourself by making yourself busy on other things that we consider as a hobby like cooking, singing and dancing.
You can also make gamble but don't forget prioritize those important things always. Just gamble on your free time.

I dont really understand what you mean by this? If you are addicted there is always free time which is you can sacrifice anything just for you to gamble a lot so you need some distraction to keep you busy so you dont gamble every time although at your free time

This group can be helpful, if you can find a meeting in your local area.

Although I no longer attend myself, the support group did help me stay away from gambling for over 6 years.
I do now gamble from time to time, but it's not anywhere near as bad as it was when I first sought help in 2000.
The best way to stay away from gambling is to give full control of all of your assets to someone you can trust. I'm not sure how practically it is for us BTC and altcoin users though.

In my opinion playing from time to time can be very dangerous for you. Even playing for points in some free games or from faucets may result in back to uncontrolled gambling.
Of course after so many years you know how that work, but I think you still can not feel safe, and will better if you give to someone trusted control over your finances.

I do have someone who has control over my finances, now. If I fuck up, now, there's a rolling pin and some frying pans with my name on them. Grin

And finally someone gave a decent advice how to stay away from gambling!
Thank you man!
I wish you to never come back to this sh*t!
