youtube videos don't have viruses, sending link of youtube videos isn't a bad idea. youtube have huge stuff and tutorials about bitcoin. showing video your self and giving brief is better. you got a good idea. start with your friends and relatives and friends and tell them how much you are earning with bitcoin and how important bitcoin is in the web. show them bitcoin's price and rates.

I think in many ways, so many video tutorials on youtube, different books, your friends experience and maybe even your own experience. If you want to learn someting i will find your way.
Right you are learning to understand bitcoin can be from anywhere. But I think it would be better if the learning directly in people who are already using bitcoin in advance. It will enable a person to understand and can be understood directly.
Definitely, In this time, no one have problem to understand the bitcoin, everyone can search it easily, most of the ways are here, and YouTube is enough, i have also experience from YouTube, i saw most of the videos and than i understand it.

As the title say, what is the proper way to teach someone about what is Bitcoin?

Well i think that first you should tell your friend or anyone that you want to teach about bitcoins that what is bitcoins and how it is mined and used

And then tell how bitcoin is good and how every store accepts it, and also tell how it is easy to pay for something or receive money

"Mastering Bitcoin" by Andreas M. Antonopoulos .This is an excellent book which I would recommend for every bitcoiner, especially if you would like to know how bitcoin works "under the hood". Technical details have been explained in a great degree of detail in a style that is easy to understand. Even for those who are uninterested in the technical side of bitcoin, it is an excellent introduction to the subject.

The first thing to teach someone about bitcoin is how someone can earn from it. ~

i think this is the wrong way of introducing bitcoin to someone, because bitcoin is supposed to be a currency so what you said here is like wanting to introduce dollar to someone and say you can earn money from it!
Just tell him that with bitcoin we can get a lot of money in an easy way.
Definitely if you do that they will be interested in bitcoin.

This could indeed be a idea for sure because of the fact everyone wants to know how to earn some good money fast.

It'd be hard, especially for the "normal" netizen or person, when they are new to any sort of online business kind of stuff (Paypal etc.)

Coincidentally was trying to teach my GF what Bitcoin is and how it works a couple of hours ago so here was my experience and some reflections.

I tried to first go about teaching her the definitions and sort of the logic behind it, but I don't think it was that much effective in getting her to visualize and have a feel for it which I think is an essential first step for getting them to understand it. I tried to also then sprinkle in some analogies and I thought it got her thinking a bit better than the previous method. Most of it was comparing fiat currency, and how it sort of moves about with banks and stuff, and Bitcoin. Couldn't quite finish what I wanted to say as with the situation at that time and ended up just citing some cool stuff about it like its value and how you could store it on paper.

In my opinion you can teach someone about Bitcoin better primarily by demonstrating the whole process first hand: from deposit, wallet, and then to transaction. I think letting the person get a glimpse and visualize how it works is important for effective teaching supplementary then letting them explore for themselves but still with guidance, leading them to forums such as Bitcointalk and sites such as Coindesk to participate, fill in the blanks and answer hanging questions.

As the title say, what is the proper way to teach someone about what is Bitcoin?

you can explanation bitcoin as paypal/bank for transaction or currency , then you can introduce him bitcoin as investment place like at forex trading.

We can say to others who doesn't know about bitcoin - it is digital (internet) currency probably next generation will not going to use paper money there will be online banking system and easy to use our money.

That's a good method. But same you should not describe that in future you won't be able to use paper currency. This will make them think digital currency is not meant for good.

That's an incredibly hard question to answer.
I would probably just show them the fundamental videos about BitCoin that try to explain it very simply without all the techy stuff.
of course it is a difficult task you know. if it was easy thing then everyone can invite many of their friends or family to join and of course the current user is already very large now ? but the fact is the growth of new adopter is very slow. and it proves that it is difficult thing ?

You explain what it is and how it works?
Bitcoin is more like a medium of exchange. You can trade your USD or EURO, PESO, GOLD for Bitcoin. You can send bitcoin to anyone in the world with a internet connection.

Basic explanation. But needed to widen the details. How can I get it? Can I make money with it? What is the difference between bitcoin and fiat? Will it make my life more convenient and will it be faster? Something like that questions.

I think the simplest is to draw an analogy with the type of electronic payment Paypal, qiwi, etc., it is clear to everyone, but tell a little about the differences.
I think if a person is interested in, the more he himself begins to search for extended information.

I would probably just show them the fundamental videos about BitCoin that try to explain it very simply without all the techy stuff.

This is the easiest way of teaching some about bitcoin and he just need to listen and watch carefully, but of course you still need to guide
that newbie if he has follow up questions. So you must be ready on his questions and you need to have a brief explanation about it.

The first thing to teach someone about bitcoin is how someone can earn from it. You also need to teach how it process transactions. You teach what are the different ways to earn bitcoin. It's either trading, gambling, mining, etc. You also need to teach the risk of each ways so you won't be blame by the person you taught if he/she get addicted to gambling, scammed by hyip's, etc.

I exactly had the same idea in my head, I would just looked up some bitcoin youtube videos and told them also somethings and that together will most likely help me to teach them about the bitcoin.
