The merit system is working perfectly. Less spam, less shitposts, less megathreads. Now people are not just ranking up to enroll in signature campaigns. They are contributing to this forum for its own sake (Not all of them). In addition, I do not know who gave Theymos the idea of the merit system. But if he came it up on his own, then I salute him. And although many people are still complaining about it, it really is helping others to make good quality posts.
Eventually, merit system will control all spammers in the forum, keep them stucked at their current ranks, makes them dissapointed and might leave the forum forever. At earlier stages after launch of merit system, they complained, cried a lot, but over time they have to accept the fact and have to adapt to survive in the forum, to rank up or have to leave the forum.
That is magic impacts of merit system.

How you guys thinks about MERIT? good? or?
any opinion ?

I personally welcome it. I don't know how others would feel. Though it takes time for me to get merits, I am satisfied with the way I post and the quality I give to my posts. I do refer data, sites and other stuffs before posting new thread bit questionnaire . I have changed the way I post. I skipped getting into the sections with Discussions as these said to be spam areas though there are valuable threads.

Agree.
Merit system has both advantages and disadvantages.
If they don't have enough skills, they should learn more, practice more, experience more to become more skilled, more experienced, more knowledgeable. I don't see any reason for hurry to get merits.
Its really hard to get merit for normal person with low skills.
Sometimes high quality threads will earn merits, sometimes they won't. Consequently, please do pay too much attention on merit system. You should do your contributive threads, someday in the future, you will rank up to higher position.
It is very  tough to get merit for good post.

Merit is good and also a bad one. Merit helps the forum for spamming and also for having a good quality posters but the negative effect of merit is farming and abusing those sMerit to their alt accounts. It is very unfair to us, we're just new to this forum and even I am having good post I didn't receive merit.

Do not give incomplete picture here. It is true that some of the members tried to abuse the merit system by giving merit points to their alts but what happened thereafter . Most of these profiles got recognized and were given a negative trust by the senior members. In other words, merit system indirectly helping in eliminating these alt accounts from the forum. I agree that the merit points sent by them got wasted in the whole process and those merits should have gone to deserving members. Consider it as a sacrifice for betterment of the forum.

It is really easy to find merit farmers due to magical designed of merit system and its mechanism. As you can see in the following link, there is a massive merit farmers was found, and all of componental accounts was banned permanently.
More mass merit farming
Spend seconds to read your thread gives me a feeling like you are merit beggar with negative attitude about merit system. It's not good generally, so you should change your attitude and your approach. If you can't do this, you should leave to other forums. This one is not appropriate place for you.

See the merit abusers who you are thinking are getting into alt account farming is actually being done for the greater good. These account farmers will use their merits to rank their accounts - which can have two possibilites :

1. They will be caught and read tagged by DT. OR,
2. They will run out of merits sooner or later.

The first option will negate those account directly from trying to make any money from shitposting. The second one will actually put those accounts in a doldrums state - because they are inherently shitposters and wont be able to rank up their accounts further. They will remain stuck until then improve post quality and all.

I certainly agree that merit helps the board for spamming. I see that you polluted a thread by spamming and embedding that massive infographic, presumably this was in the hope that you could scratch a bit of merit. The reality is that if you do it too often, you will be put on ignore to preserve the legibility of threads.

I don't understand why people find the merit system here so diffcult to understand. If you aren't intelligent enough to read the main stickies and undertand them, then what chance have you got in understanding anything about the world of crypto,

Also, it is obvious from the complaints, and the creation of rubbish threads about merit, that the main objectors are the newer members who feel that it stops them from collecting money from the efforts of the long term and senior members here.

If you can't comprehend the merit system, and the good that it is doing for the forum, then please leave and get a job as a cleaner or McDonalds burger flipper.

Well to tell you truthfully... I really feel discouraged in this MERIT system they are putting in this Forum... for me it is a big discrimination to low ranking members like us... you deny us the opportunity to earn more and you deny us from being promoted to a much higher rank, I guess all those high ranking members will gonna still gonna receive the highest payment in every Signature Campaign and all of those low ranking members like me will maintain the most lowest payment in Signature Campaign.

You are a Full member and still consider your self as a low rank member ? I am still a junior member and more than happy with my performance here. This might be favoring the old senior rank members currently but with time all this will get even. Also, we may see some changes to the merit system is future and if that happens, the senior rank members who are posting useless posts should be targeted. There can be a rule like if a senior member is not able to get 5-10 merits in 6 months, he will move to lower rank.

To be honest I'm a weak person, I'm very difficult to get merit, I do not have the skills, so I have to get merit it with difficulty I will continue my learning will not despair,
Actually merit benefits very well, helps the intelligence so that no origin of the post that could be spam, so the benefits are very positive though deserve.

I am really disappointed about this merit requirement thing they are putting in this forum... So I could not be promoted anymore because I'm sure that I will never get the required merits so that I will be promoted... no one cares here to give anyone a merit, so this thing merit requirement is just a big obstacle for low ranking members like us to become legendary members just like you! For now low ranking member like us don't have any chance anymore to be promoted one rank higher.
Stop complaining, crying about merit system because you can not change the fact that the system was launched and it will be there forever. You have to adapt to new system and rank up.
Furthermore, I have spent a couple of minutes to look at your post history. What I found is most of your threads are on Alt Discussion, Bitcoin Discussion, and Bounties boards. I don't thinks those boards are good place for you to get merits because higher ranked users rarely visit those boards.
The final point is you should not begging for merits, instead focusing on your contributions to the forum.

I think you are missing something. Merits are being used in a quite a large amount. Just look at the Merit statistics. It is all public for a reason.
Stats: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats

If nobody cared to give merits, this whole system would've been a bust when released. Instead, we see a flood of qualitative posts and people appreciating them.  One great example of one user who has exceeded with merits is nullius. He is a newer member of BCT, yet has 225 recent merit awarded.

I think you just are not looking at the right place.

Remember though, the point of you being on the forum is not to rank up. It is meant to have a good discussion about topics, and gain some new information through it. That is what merits are meant to do. If you are on the forum just to rank up, you might want to realize that that is why merits are not being awarded to you. Please just take a look at your most recent posts. Do you think you would award yourself merits and state that your posts are qualitative posts to be recognized?

I think the merit system is the best think what could happen on this forum. Im on internet forums more then fiveteen years, and i never saw something like this. So many people are just spaming the board the reach a rank or just to have their post done for the bounty campaigns. The poor mods cant handle this amount of spam. When you look at the any new airdrop topic, its a horrible mess. They post the same airdrop 10times with each a ref link even posting ref links are against the rules. So this merit system will stop the spamming and bring back qualitiy post!

For me, I really think that putting the merit points to be able to be promoted is a big discrimination to lower ranking members like me and it is very unfair also for us, lucky for those people who where here long enough I'm sure they got promoted already without any problems and discrimination because there were no merit points during their time and they can easily get promoted no hassle, no problem at all.

What I can say about this MERIT system that they are implementing in this forum is that only the HIGH RANKING MEMBERS are the ONLY QUALIFIED MEMBERS for a HIGHER PAY in SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN, I doubt if these LEGENDARY MEMBERS will even reach FULL MEMBER if there was already a MERIT SYSTEM during those times when they are still NEWBIES or LOW RANKING MEMBERS like us. MERIT SYSTEM are just being made for the benefit of the HIGH RANKING MEMBERS or let me say to those who are already in this forum for a long time. MERIT SYSTEM serves as a WALL that BLOCKS the low ranking members like us to be PROMOTED.
