How you guys thinks about MERIT? good? or?
any opinion ?
Good, if everyone in this forum when reading a thread he should also read the comments of the thread. And if he finds a good quality thread and comment post that I hope is he gives merit, which I fear people on this forum are stingy to give merit. With the merit it is expected that bitcointalk users can contribute and provide a good understanding of people who want to know the world of cryptocurrency, as well as a source of world information crypto.

All I can say about this MERIT thing that you are adding in this Forum is that it really makes difficult for a LOW ranking member like me to be promoted to a much higher rank so I could say that this MERIT thing is like a discrimination for LOW ranking members like us to be able to be promoted and reach the highest rank such as LEGENDARY rank. Gaining MERIT is a near impossible to achieve because who will bother giving you a MERIT when almost everybody in this FORUM are busy doing their own thing to finished the assigned task on them from all the bounties that they had participated.

It should be difficult and it's not discrimination. Is it discrimination when people require you to have passed your driving test before you're allowed to drive? No. Now only people who have earned their right to post by making quality contributions will rise through the ranks. Ranks should mean something other than you just made one post every fortnight for a certain amount of time just to become x rank etc. Now ranks will actually be earned by both time and effort as previously it was far too easy for anyone to farm as many accounts as they wanted just by posting rubbish. The system now prevents that. Make great posts and you'll be rewarded over time but if you can't make great posts then you'll probably struggle.

I didn't know what is merit is all about or what is the use of it but i have merit in my profile. Anyone knows what is merit for?

Find my discussion in this trend. Meriting Introduction is to scrutinize the forum by reducing or cubing low quality posts in order to boost activity ranks and more like that. Furthermore, to increase/improve the forum standard and encourage every member in the forum to be pro active. Anyway, I feel it's high time we stick to the forum with important ideas of constructive wordings.

Your posts seem like word salad to me.

This one

However, if you don't have time to search for information, rules of the forum, you should leave.
Why joined the forum but don't have time to read new rules. It sounds terrible! Additionally, the forum is a place for discussing ideas, learning from each other. What are your purposes to join the forum, fella?

hi guys i am new in this forum, how do i get merit please help me
Read this: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-new-rank-requirements-2818350

But to be honest, you won't get any if all you can do is post bounty entries.

... and who decides a "shit" vs "good quality"? It is my opinion, and I have expressed it. It is your opinion that it is wrong mentality, so be it!
The users who care about this forum. If you keep making good posts, you will get merits at some point.

And before you ask what is a "good post", I would say that if you make insightful posts insted of posts whose sole purpose is to increase your activity, you are in the right track.

thank you sir for the information and it really helps me to be more careful and make a better post to get merit, although I think it's hard to get

Well to tell you truthfully... I really feel discouraged in this MERIT system they are putting in this Forum... for me it is a big discrimination to low ranking members like us... you deny us the opportunity to earn more and you deny us from being promoted to a much higher rank, I guess all those high ranking members will gonna still gonna receive the highest payment in every Signature Campaign and all of those low ranking members like me will maintain the most lowest payment in Signature Campaign.
Well it's too bad the garble-babbling, shitposting, signature-spamming NOOBS ruined it all for you.  There is a very good reason the merit system was put in place, and it's a crying shame it's not convenient for you.

With this new system, it's calling on everyone who needs merit points to rank up to seriously up their friggin' game.  That's the bottom line--you really have to work harder to rank up now, and yes you are at the mercy of other members to provide those merit points.  It's led to what I can see as a big black market for merit points, but some DT members are tagging people who've obviously purchased them or who are sending them back and forth between alt accounts.  I've got to decide whether to get on board that, but I've been chained to the toilet with flu for the past week and have not had much energy for reading on bitcointalk.

I'm still thinking it's a great system.  It's still making me smile.
For me the idea of merit is good it will helps clean the forum from spammers since people will be required to make a quality post to rank up and join signature campaigns but it made me worries because the required merit is quite difficult to achieve since fewer are giving their merits while we our in need this to rank up I hope sendable merit will increase so we can meet our target
This is a good example of a typical shitpost that'll never be deserving of merit.  All a big, garbled, run-on sentence with no punctuation or thought put into it.  Great job, Sofishitposty@@.
Still confused why people keep moaning and crying like a baby. They don't understand, this system is new. And, We don't know is there any changes with this system, so now just do what you should. Agree with you about this system is Great, any reward for quality.

PS. : Hope you Get Well and yah, Flu is annoying Grin

Interesting how defensive you are, given that you yourself went up to the rank by shitposting. Just from this response, you should get a de-merit - may be we should start that too - then you will just have 'L' left from your rank.

This Merit System looks really good on the paper, but it definitely hurts the people that can't spend too much time on the forum and be engaged in discussions, but still use the forum. For instance, I translate stuff and I allocate most of my time on the translations or applying and reading about the Bounty Campaigns etc.

I honestly feel a little lost here. How the hell am I supposed to get Merits as a Jr Member? It is way easier to get them if you are an already established member of the community. I personally fear it will take me a long time to get out of Jr Member, mainly because people would be less incentivized to Merit me due to my already-low Rank.
Take it easy, bro. You have to post at least 60 posts for gaining 60 activities, right? This figure is the minimum to be upgraded to Member rank without merit scores. With merit points, what you need is 10 points, that mean only 10/60 or around 17% of your posts qualified and received merits. That's enough for you, right?

In fact, you have to post about 100 constructive, high-qualitied ones in order to get 10 merits from others, I guess, but it is possible task for you.

Let's go and write as constructive posts as possible.

This information come from Theymos
In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member300
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500
LegendaryRandom in the range 775-10301000
~
Trivia:

For current members, your initial merit score is equal to the minimum required to your rank. Of that, a certain amount (less than the usual half) is spendable. The spendable amount was calculated based on your current rank and the number of activity points you earned in the last year. A Legendary member who hasn't posted in the last year would still be Legendary, but would not have any spendable merit.

If someone sends you 1 merit, the 0.5 sMerit is not wasted; it is just not shown until you get another merit point.

I've got over 2,000 posts made in a little over two years. Most of those were made at the start of my membership, and from a desire to further my interest in Bitcoin. I made some controverial posts, and some stupid ones as a result of my lack of knowledge. Did I contribute to the forum? I like to think so because some of the "big names" here replied to my questions, and were extremely helpful and informative. I was lucky because in those days it was possible to have a sensible discussion in the Frog Forum, and beginner's questions were moved to the beginners board. As a result of being active, I've racked up a reasonable post count, and until the merit system arrived, I only needed to make one post of indifferent quality per activity period to gain promotion. Why would 2 posts per month of indifferent quality mean that I should be Legendary rather than just a simple Hero? Of course the answer is that it doesn't.

I'm happy to contribute to the forum and enter into informed discussions, but please give me somewhere to do it. You can help by frequenting the serious discussion boards until the herons get to the Frog Pond, and the thread weeds are closed.

a new system so that users of the forums here really make a useful post and do not contain spam. I agree with the merit though I am also aware of how to obtain it is also very difficult.

I think the MERIT System is actually a great way to give members in this community an ample time to improve the quality of their posting. I do read a lot although I have not posted anything or commented anything in this forum but I made sure by the time I have something to say I would be able to communicate through posting comments the answer to some questions on this forum. Of course I also want to help out my fellow crypto community members to better understand these currencies because a lot of them really have negative feedbacks and would always tell me to withdraw my holdings in trading.

It was well intended I think and to me it has several pros and cons but I think the pro of less spam on the forums is heavily outweighed by the cons that are now in our current system.

PROS

-less spam
--less bots and farmers
---more quality posting

CONS

-unfair to those who were about to rank up
--merit points not distributed fairly either (distro between ranks)
---merit points not distrbuted fairly amongst same ranks; ie how does somebody with 121 activity and 239 activity get same merit points?
----system is too political now and some may give up after not receiving any or little merits for a while
Well i actually agree with that you, look at my activity it's absolutely near from hero, and it's not fair for people who wants grow their rank but stuck on their merits 400 activity but only get 250 (sr.member) what a.. but show must go on, it's not bad stuck on this rank by the way, maybe next update the sum of merits to rank up will going more small than now, they should think about that.
