We often intend to play little and gamble small, but unfortunately that is often an illusion. If you like to gamble too much, you may end up betting larger amounts over time. The problem is also often that you no longer have the realization that you are gambling. You have a blur in your eyes and then you are only concerned with money. But gambling is not the way to stay safe, it would be better to stay away from it altogether.

We can still gambles and stay safe, ask me how and i will tell, gambling needs a disciplined kind of lifestyle that must be made with caution, not everything the eyes see it must get attracted to, there's a way we can limit our addiction to gambling if we truly intends to do so, there's always a way we can gamble responsibly without having a negative impact in our life, this is a game of freedom, it's a choice we make while gambling, if to have fun or make money.

I agree with this. Setting up limitations is one of the key factors to avoid being addicted in gambling. If you are disciplined enough to say no to your urges to gamble especially the moment you don't have enough fund to do so, it can save you from a lot of trouble such as from the trouble of borrowing money and eventually be burdened by piled up debts because of bad gambling habits. If you really want to enjoy gambling's benefit without experiencing the cons of it, then put up self-restraint and behave like a responsible player will do. Do not be controlled and tricked by your emotions and cravings to play and bet, otherwise, you'll just get lost.

I am not a gambling addict but some friends are making me look like one because I gamble less and they gamble more, it all started when we got into an argument that investing in Bitcoin is not the same as gambling, my friends who are gamblers, not full-time but more of a gambler than I am, are claiming that there is no difference between investing and gambling, they said if all you doing is investing money on Bitcoin you are no different to those who are gambling in a casino.
-snip-

Stupid people often think they are smarter than other people because they feel that they have more knowledge than others, even though they only have a little knowledge about it, and that's your friend. Investing and gambling are different, gambling is when you put money into something and hope that it will bring you the jackpot - you just hope that luck will be on your side. But investing is when you buy an asset with research and see the use cases of the asset and its potential in the future, you don't rely on luck here, what you rely on is your logic and the research you used before investing in this asset. So it's different between gambling and investing. But sometimes people who invest in crypto often gamble on their assets, and that has been proven in the past trend of NFTs and Defi, where many people bought shittokens and made high profits from it.

Which is why we must always approach any activity in which an addiction is a remote possibility with caution, the majority of the gamblers out there never get addicted and they can gamble responsibly, but there is a small number of gamblers out there which develop some issues, and as such if from the very beginning we are guarded against this possibility, then it will become even more unlikely or it could even become impossible for us to become addicted, something that is key as once you become addicted to anything overcoming that addiction becomes incredibly challenging.

It also initially depends on the ability of a person to handle money, the ability to plan a budget is a very important property at the same time, because if you allocate a certain (small) amount for gambling, then it will never become a problem for you if you lose it. And if you manage to increase it and thus it will be your game deposit for a long time, then there will simply be no problems with addiction and reasons for big losses.

People don't realize that they are getting addicted, it's true. I've seen it myself when some people start gambling initially, they say they are in total control and are not spending much, and when they start using a lot of money on gambling and if you tell them that you think they are getting addicted to it and they refuse and tell you there is nothing like that.

But sooner or later when they spend almost everything they have and have nothing left to spend but the urge doesn't end, that is when they realize that they have already become addicted and now are unable to get out of it.

nowadays with the evolution of technologies, I wonder if someone goes to stay in a distant village they won't have access to a telephone and internet and gambling, it's hard to escape technology to avoid gambling, but it doesn't hurt to try , and it is true that staying away from all this for a long time the person manages to overcome the addiction, but we have to see if it will be a temporary or permanent cure
This will not work, as an example those which are addicted to a specific drug if for some reason they are unable to find it will simply begin to intoxicate themselves with another drug in order to satisfy their addiction, and gambling addiction is the same, even if a person moved into an isolated village with no internet and in which gambling was forbidden, they will still find a way to gamble in that scenario and keep their addiction going, so as you can see an addiction is not something from which you can run, and instead it is something you need to face head on and overcome it with your will.
Well, I do agree with you that you cannot escape your addiction if you are roaming free no matter where you are, you will still find a way to fulfill the urge that keeps tickling you from the inside, but, a will doesn't help in a case where addiction has reached a very high level, and to overcome that, one needs to be isolated but not in a village or with total freedom.

One will need help from their close ones to keep them away from the addiction and take good care of them with other things so that they can get over the addiction and this needs to be done for some time until the urge starts to go away slowly and steadily.

Exactly,  not many have control over their gambling activities and that is why gambling is said to be a highly addictive activity it is better not to start at all than to want to attempt to gamble less which in most cases is not realistic unless for highly discipline players.

Excessive gambling is always motivated by the greed for making more money or chasing a loss,  but knowing the right time to take a break will help a whole lot and any gambler who is looking to avoid addictions must poses the discipline to know when to take a break and watch back to see what is going on as a result of his overall gambling activities.

Gambling addiction is a very strong addiction to stop, it's better to not get addicted initially than thinking you can stop the addiction when it becomes unbearable for you. You mightn't know you're addicted because you'll be enjoying what you're doing even when there are losses.
Crazy people, if the orientation is on fun and continues to make you poor. Maybe when addicted they don't have good thoughts and family is the best solution for the approach to healing. I myself sometimes do gambling but not to the point of addiction, there are limits that I always remember. Even if it is just for fun, but if it continues and continues to lose, it is stupid. I will not take pleasure in my condition of continuing to lose it suicide. So the one that the author expresses is right, they have a different way because we don't succeed in the way that already exists.

If we indulge in excessive enjoyment, develop a gambling addiction, and ultimately cause our families to suffer, that would be unfair. If we enjoy something, we should make sure it isn't having a negative impact on the lives of those around us. Although gambling addiction is intolerable, it is preventable in its early stages.
We should take steps to restrain ourselves if we believe that our urges to gamble are uncontrollable. We shouldn't let our emotions influence the decisions we make. It's crucial to establish our boundaries early on in order to prevent going overboard and using greater sums than we have set aside for gambling. We certainly regret our actions in the long run if we do nothing and limit ourselves from the start.

The more we gamble less the more we get interesting in the world of gambling but its up to us if we can control ourselves as we all know that once we involve in gambling we can not deny the fact that sometimes we will feel like in gambling we are comfortable. So it's up to us if we can control our selves in to a educated gambler that we gamble for the sake of joy and not for earning. Because gambling is for fun not a job.

In order to save yourself from losing money, I think it's not the quantity that matters. You can gamble less and still lose money. The more important thing is money management and the plan with which you enter in gambling. If you know how much money you will put in each game or bet, you have a pre-defined plan on what will be your course of action on a loss or a win, then in that case you will not lose money regardless of the fact that you gamble more often or rarely gamble.

Yeah, I agree that gambling will not give you any fixed earnings, so gambling to have fun is also very important but at the same time, not losing money should be the ultimate goal too.
You are very correct, and I agree with you, one of the ways to really have a stress free gambling is to only gamble with a fund that is already provisioned for it, making funds available for gambling will ensure that the gambler never end up gambling with funds he or she can't afford to loose.
Though it take special care and discipline, nothing really good, profitable ever comes at a cost that is free, gambling is an activity that should never be depended on as a means of living in terms of finance, gambling should be more or a fun adventure for the gambler, than of a way to make money.

I experienced this few years ago, going to a place away from internet and live peacefully in a village far from city to stop my gambling addiction. I live there for a month to change what I used to because i'm spending too much money in gambling that led to debts. It does work for me maybe because I have the willingness to stop for the sake of my family and forget that chapter of my life.

It's also a lesson for me to not repeat the same mistakes again. It took me 2 years to gamble again, but this time as a disciplined gambler and aware of my limitation.
Be thankful, not everyone can stop gambling addiction, for many its impossible but I guess you are able to do this because you really want to put an end to the addiction, you want a solution and that changes everything.

Those who are addicted to gambling promised themselves to never gamble again but few days later they will go back and gamble again, you have to be in full control of yourself and your life to be able to beat gambling addiction and set things right for yourself.

Many people are just living, they don't know how to be in total control of themselves, those people are the type that use their tongue to achieve their goals, they aren't bold enough to bring a change, you are special @Lienfaye.

I have often said that addiction situations are very difficult to recover from when a person does not have complete determination for what they want. I mean when a gambling addict who does not have a strong desire to recover from his addiction, it will be very difficult even if he goes to any country or remote city there will always be a way to gamble on the grounds that there is no intention to recover.

but for gambling addicts who have thought about the best way to choose to heal themselves without gambling, it is enough in a simple way, often consult with a psychologist and ask for family help to always guide them to recover from their addiction.
so, from this problem, as the OP said, we as gamblers who are not yet gambling addicts must seriously understand the side effects of addiction so that we can control every time we want to gamble. always use a positive mindset towards gambling, for example gambling is just a game of luck.

The help of professionals will have no effect in being able to help gambling addicts quit their addiction.
The main factor for a gambling addict to be able to stop and get better is the family, where if the family always provides support and accompanies him to move towards more positive things and also provides some positive activities such as work or other activities then a addict can feel pleasure and gradually forget gambling.

Families have very important roles to play in helping a gambling addicts get passed his addiction as families are the best comfort of a man since they won't want to disappoint their families but make them see that they're improving.

Professionals are also very important as they're the pro that can use their experience to help the addict in the path that'll he'll help him recover. A professional help has a very strong role to play but the family is the most important of them all.

An addiction is a problem in the brain. You can travel anywhere but you will bring your addicted brain with you.

You will try to do anything to get your fix.

What might help instead is to have some purpose, something to look forward to. Once you have that you realize your addiction is holding you back from achieving that goal, and you naturally try to cut back or stop completely.

You need to swap addictions, get addicted to something positive instead.

and it will take a lot of courage for someone to be able to escape and accept the reality of being addicted.

this does not only happen with gambling, even people who are consuming alcoholic beverages every day, when someone tells them that they are addicted to alcoholic beverages they deny it and always say that they are fine, that they have control and can stop drinking alcohol in the day and time you want, but when you challenge them and say something like: "so try to stay a week without consuming alcohol" the person will say yes (but they won't say it immediately, only after a lot of insistence will they accept it), but unfortunately it won't take 2 or 3 days for him not to be able to fulfill what he said, he will start consuming alcohol again and will continue to deny that he is addicted to alcohol. this is the same with people addicted to gambling

Because gambling is for fun not a job.

without a doubt this is the part that many people refuse to accept, what happens is that people even say something like: you shouldn't see gambling as a source of income. but they are talking just to please other people, in practice the person who said that is playing in search of profits, and every time he loses he thinks that when he puts more money he will win money, always with illusions

If we choose to live in an environment of gamblers then don't expect to be able to stop addiction, my friend once exiled himself living in a village without the internet and he really succeeded in getting rid of his gambling addiction, it's really difficult to get rid of gambling addiction but if there is intention then everything will be lost,

But still, as gamblers, always take care of portion and refrain from gambling because when we are used to looking for pleasure in gambling because basically it starts from being happy, it will also end in curiosity, namely curiosity which is the beginning of addiction.  Wink
