LN seems to be undervalued and not optimized by its potential. If merchants will use this network, customers will avoid btc high tx fees. But up until now, very few merchants are having LN within their payment system. And right now, I think that's one hindrance in deploying btc payment in merchants/shops. I hope that one day, LN will find its way to these entities and crypto users will have more convenience in using this service.
When you became a bitcoin fan. This is the usual reaction of bitcoin lover to which all things running in their head is all about bitcoin. Well, I could blame them too because bitcoin really a great help when it comes to investment earnings but the best things about using bitcoin for spending is the challenge. Bitcoin might be challenging when you do transfer because it may somehow take time to confirm witg the miner in the transaction especially if payments needs huge bitcoin transfer. I think it'll be technically possible but users simply won't want to do it en masse. You don't spend what you think will be worth more in future, especially if you have a more common alternative that does the opposite. It goes against both logic and human nature.

I wouldn't like to pay my supershop bill in bitcoin. The main reason is the transaction fee btc need to transfer a small amount of money also. It won't be profitable for me or not for the seller also. So, I prefer cash on the local supershops around me. I only use btc to pay or buy something online. Because it is much easier and hassle free.

Most hardfork of bitcoin is meant to add those things they consider limitations eg paying using bitcoin at supermarket but where are they today? Well, in the united states there are good places you can pay for your goods unlike the other parts that are still coming up with the technology. The recent happenings has shown that, many merchandise doesn't understand the technology while the world still facing the pandemic. Bitcoin community has been educating the general public about this technology and in short time from now the world will start embracing the technology, then will the payment system be made available for all. LN(Lightning Network) has good innovative ideas that will make this technology work wonders for big and small businesses in terms of payment.
I also feel the desire to pay for my food with Bitcoin. I live in a small city where if you frequent a place they already know you. Once it occurred to me to tell to several owners of supermarkets in my city that I wanted to pay for my food with Bitcoin and that if they did not know I could teach them to get started with Bitcoin. My answer was that no, in their faces I could see that there was disinterest and ignorance.

I do understand where you are coming from. Everyone has their preferences on where they want to spend their bitcoins. Other see it as an investment opportunity while others treat the same way they as cash. It all depends upon their needs and priorities on where they could actually use their resources on essential stuff.
Although most would probably disagree on OP's choice, at the end of the day, bitcoin still can be converted into large amounts of cash given the right time you cash them out.

Again, it all depends upon the preference of the person and the available means of transaction. If your country allows the exchange via bitcoins, then take that opportunity to do so. While other countries have regulations which bar the usage of bitcoins, then debit/credit cards would suffice. It all boils down on the convenience and acceptable terms of payment available per country.

We are all aware of the huge shift of Bitcoin's treatment from an electronic cash to a speculative asset, from an alternative medium of exchange to an investment, so I guess the majority is waiting for that new ATH more than their favorite supermarket's green light for Bitcoin payment.

There are government regulations that need to follow. So, large grocery in some developed countries may accept bitcoin payments. But it’s not that much easy for the developing & underdeveloped countries, especially in this global pandemic situation. However, as soon as all the largest ecommerce sites starts to accept Bitcoin payments. All other business will come forward without hesitation. Let’s hope everything go as per their plan. I am also excited to buy things using Bitcoin.
