Just a feeling I have. It's all credit cards and dollars and shit.

Yeah, I'd rather spend the shit money and save my bitcoins, but I can't wait until I can use real money everywhere. I'd rather get paid in bitcoin and spend bitcoin.

Be patient because we are still waiting for that. You don't have to use credit cards, but you can use dollars/fiat money. But I prefer to still use dollars/fiat money for now than to use bitcoin because making a transaction is too high, and sometimes we need to wait for some time before it's completed. Besides that, I can save my bitcoin and sell it once the price touches the highest price by using fiat money. Bitcoin is an investment for me, but it is also a way to make fiat money, so I think we need to give more time for bitcoin before it can accept in all countries, and bitcoin can be used to make a transaction.

You can do it now anyway! Just go to Polispay and order their prepaid debit card and spend it to any store where POS machine is available. So you will be spending from your bitcoin in this case. I don't know what point you are trying to make while it is already very much possible! I understand you a bitcoin enthusiast but that doesn't give you the right to call fiat money useless or shit! The world economy is dependent on fiat currencies and bitcoin is just a new entrant to the world of economy, just 11 years old! Give it time and it will surely find its way into the economy for good.

But what you want now is already available! Hope this helps!

Just to be clear, I've already done this before. Yeah, it was cool and yeah, it was fun. But it's not quite the same as using the actual protocol without touching debit/credit card networks.

The ideal thing would be lightning integration and then I send a few sats, I buy some milk and maybe I get a discount for the merchant not getting hit for processing fees and using a superior money.

Inflation free money should command a discount over fiat. Or perhaps it should be viewed the other way around.

If you're giving me inflation prone money that if stored can be frozen by a bank or physically stolen by thieves you should pay me extra.

Hold your horses there mate. It is still a long way to go.

You should not consider fiat to be shit, just because you don't like it. The importance of bitcoin is there because of the disadvantages of fiat. Think about it, if fiat didn't exist then bitcoin would not be talked about. There is a importance of everything in life. But we fail to comprehend it because we see only one side of the picture.

We all want bitcoin to be accepted by big merchants. But that is a long way, we can only hope for the best and see how the progress is with more people using it and thus raising the demand.

If you have the necessary requirements, you can start by implementing it in your city. You can have some stores that accept BTC or make partner with the other company who can make this thing possible. as of now, we cannot do it alone except with the help of others. We are still in the middle of doubt where people don't really understand what's going on with this new digital currency. In our era today right now is to educate those people what this thing is, we let the young people do their job after we are done with our job today.

I think to pay a small amount I think it will cost you a lot, if you shop in large quantities it looks interesting and worth using bitcoin payments, but unfortunately the problem of transaction confirmation is also a problem here, you need a wallet that can really be used together so that not waiting to confirm the transaction, if I were you I would keep bitcoins in my wallet and not to be spent

i'd rather use my bitcoin to pay services that i use instead of using it at the supermarket. fiat would do just fine there, especially because most supermarket around my place only do cash transactions.

it would be cool, sure. but i don't know if merchants would take the risk with zero-conf or if they have the time to set-up a ln node.

While some already allow prepaid bitcoin debit cards to be used, I can’t also wait for the time when I can literally just scan a bitcoin addy QR code and pay with actual bitcoins. Though currently that isn’t economical given the tx fees and confirmation times, but it is still a possibility that is just looming around the corner until someone actually comes through with it, especially on the merchant’s side.

You can also ask for your employers to give you bitcoins instead, although they may not be open with it but it’s worth it to ask.

That would be a nice thing to happen. But I bet not everybody is waiting for that same thing you are waiting.

We are all aware of the huge shift of Bitcoin's treatment from an electronic cash to a speculative asset, from an alternative medium of exchange to an investment, so I guess the majority is waiting for that new ATH more than their favorite supermarket's green light for Bitcoin payment.

Well, as for me, I would gladly welcome either of the two that happens first. Wink

Hello to all. I'm not sure what exactly I would like Bitcoin to be accepted everywhere in stores because of the cost of transactions, but if cryptocurrency with minimal transactions would be accepted in stores, and there would be something like Posmining for the rest of the amount, - that would be my dream come true. Sooner or later this will happen - let's be patient.

That would be awesome indeed! In the Philippines, there are already a handful of stores that accept bitcoin payment. But I doubt full adoption is going to happen in our generation. Merchants and their staff have to fully understand how bitcoin transactions work and the proper technology to support it must be accessible first, and that takes a long time. We have a long way to go but we are always optimistic.

Let's just wait until it happens. Or Why not you're the one who first initiates a move in your area? Like introducing to your friends, neighbors, and businesses. Then if bitcoin is already an option payment recognize by many people, it might be an option to some supermarkets to accept it as well.

Unlikely that this is going to happen because of the absurd fees that we are having right now. Today, I had to send Bitcoin with a 2 dollars worth of fee on a single transaction and it took a lot of time to finish. Now imagine supermarkets doing this and customers sending with this kind of fees for every transaction they make. We'd have to wait for lightning network or a Bitcoin development that would fix or at least lessen the fees to be feasible.

Not until LN is available and widely adopted. Just imagine spending BTC for daily purchases today - a few dollars of fee if you want your tx confirmed in next block most of the time, ~10 minute wait till your transaction confirms - how that would even work, do people have to stay in the shop until their transaction gets confirmed?

For now, if you don't want Visa and your bank knowing what kind of butter are you buying, you should stick to cash. It's better to convert your BTC to cash once a month and spend it, inflation doesn't matter on such a small scale.

If there are any small grocery stores in your neighbourhood, consider supporting them instead of large chains. Not only can the food be a lot better, but they'll listen to their loyal customers. Keep reminding them that you're willing and able to pay in bitcoin, and let them know they don't have to assume any risk by using a service like BitPay.

I know it's not the same as getting a supermarket to make the switch, but those things are massive and getting something like that past their management/financial teams will be almost impossible without sufficient market research that suggests they'll be left behind if they don't do it.
