Wow 12 bitcoin, it is a lot bro, you must be an very successful trader to have this an good sum. Good job mate. Now for your question I would advice you do invest in 60 percent of your bitcoin into promising altcoins like Ethereum,Ripple or Lisk. Or you can also start making your own ICO like a lot of people here. They make a lot of ICO successful with just a website and a good thread, some of them do not even have a white paper and a good track record ...

12 bitcoin is a very large sum, you can give the altcoins a chance
At least a portion, maybe you will win, stay in bitcoin isn't sensible for now
Just keep hold of what you have in the wallet. When considering the price it has reached, having 12btc in the wallet is something big. If necessary try to invest one or two bitcoin into altcoins. Hold the rest, and automatically upon the growth happening with time user will get profited.

If I were you, I will sell 2 btc to buy other coins, just like people say do not put all your egg in a basket.
Or sell all and start your dream journey Cheesy

exactly and right you need to have atleast some coins in some other coin dont just stick in just one only cause in altcoin even though that the price are not so high like altcoin but we know that there is some of it having a great potential that can give you a huge of profit so this time it is the right for you to have some coin too.

If I were you I will just hold it. The rate of increase of bitcoin today is uncontrollable, and it is the fastest growing coin in the history of cryptos. Just believe in bitcoin and you won't regret anything

2) Invest in altcoins and leave a little in Bitcoin
Pay attention to the new VR gaming alcoin project - IQeon. They already have ready working app, strong marking plan and roadmap. I think it will be super cool profit!
Their bitcointalk thread - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.25378291. Their website - http://iqeon.io/

I have 12 Bitcoins. I am not a whale. I started about 6 months ago with 0.01 Bitcoins and $1000. I turned it into 12 Bitcoins so far and am pretty proud to say the least.

My question is, what do I do now?

As far as I can see, I have 4 options;

1) Hold the Bitcoin

2) Invest in altcoins and leave a little in Bitcoin

3) Fund a project and start my own cryptocurrency that solves a problem that current currencies face (scalability, Tx fees etc.). With the funds, I would be able to assemble a team, start a marketing campaign, get listed on exchanges etc. I am also a programmer which helps.

4) Convert it to fiat (probably the dumbest idea)

Edit: I should also add, I dropped out of school and have all the time in the world so can fully commit to any idea. I will earn my living of cryptocurrencies.

A few people have asked how I made my money so, if you are interested, here is a short summary:

Initially, I put it all into Bitcoin during the massive FUD of the fork around June when Bitcoin dipped to $1,900. Then I put half my money into NEO before all of the hype at around $12 and cashed out at $40. Then I invested in a couple ICO's and turned a pretty good profit of off the hype. After that, I got back in on NEO as soon as China announced the regulations regarding ICO's and rode the wave back from around $20 to $40 (I can't quite remember). Then, I rode the hype of Ethereum Dark, eBitcoin and a few other airdrop scams (after bribing a few of the devs, I got massive discounts in comparison to market prices and drove the volume up on their respective markets to get them listed on coinmarketcap which catapulted their price). Finally, I got in on Wincoin before it got to coinmarketcap and turned a 20x profit.

bitcoin will not be defeated by the usd, bitcoins defeats many fiat currencies, after that new currencies will come that will defeat bitcoin, they will then also be deflationary like bitcoin is to the usd, why should poor people in inner cities work or accept an ressourcewasting cryptocurrency like bitcoin

I would recommend you in case that you only have BTC to make sure to buy some other coins as well. What I would do is keep about half of the Bitcoins and invest the other half in other major cryptocurrencies, maybe something like Ethereum or some other top ten crypto. XRP is quite a good example as well, the coin has been doing great and the future potential is quite big. What I'm trying to say is that you should diversify, which means to reduce your risk of losing more money than you actually have to. If you are diversified (invested in various coins) then you reduce the chances of going bust, which is a real danger when you consider just how much volatile the cryptocurrency market really is.

For fear of unknown, just divide your coins into two. Invest one part in other altcoins and use the other part to pursue the same activity that made you the initial profit.

There is only one choice to keep it. To keep for as long as I can. Read the article the analyst says that in 2018 BITCOIN will cost 40 thousand. And the next possible correction in the area of 25 thousand. Well, bitcoin is already almost 11 thousand.
I think 90% need to keep. 10 percent can be put into altcoins

Amazing how sure people are about bitcoins success.
It could very well be true but I would (with 12 damn btc) at least cash out two of them as a hedge.
My personal opinion....

the first option is the best answer
you can also invest in some altcoin but just a small amount and hold bitcoin atleast 50% or more
