12 ethereum is a very serious amount mate , when dealing with such amounts , at least for me, you can't be to carefull , these 12 words are your key's to your ETH , think that a lot of people learned all this the hard way , believe you learned your lesson to , still a hard loss

Have you installed right metamask in browers or download real metamask ? 12 seeds is unique and you have to write down with correct and in safer file. Sometimes, it shows wrong with the change of letters in 12 words. Check whether the metamask you installed is correct or not.

Hello everyone...

Hopefully this is the right place to post something like this.

12 ETH was sent to a new Metamask wallet, and the seedphrase written down. We have all 12 words.

But when we try to restore the wallet, all associated addresses seem to be empty.

Does anyone know any software too partially crack Ethereum seed phrases? (Try combinations of similar words)

I help to recover seed-phrases using my software and my equipment. MetaMask wallet only (BIP-39). Contacts - [email protected]

As far as I know, if the seed is wrong the wallet will refuse to load the address. but why did he say the address seems empty?
before brute-forcing it, have you tried checking the wallet that contains the balance?
this is quite fishy, are you sure the seed is associated with an address that contains a balance inside of it? your friend might lie to you.
I don't know why he would lie to me, as far as I know he has no reason too.
The actual seed phrase he gave me checked out, but did not have any balance.
If the seed phrase that he gave to you is empty that means it has no balance or he has moved it out of the address. as I said before, did you know the address that contains the balance? if you know, check it first before doing brute-forcing because it is time-consuming (even I do not know it is going to work or not, I never used it to do this kind of thing. I used btcrecover to bruteforce the password).

I tried btcrecover, it could not recover the seed. And yes, the ETH is still in the original address.

Any new wallet warned you before open an account that they have no control in private key. So you should write it down in your notebook perfect. For another secure layer you should visit one time and keep back process. Only one word is everything.

Same sad story for newbie to visit phishing address. This same story repeat by new members. Several times experts suggest to visit legit address and check several times. Another thing should check before send coin, login your wallet to check 12 words or private wallet is perfectly noted

Angry As explained above multiple times now, the ETH is still in the address it was sent too.

If you inserted a seed into MEW and it gave you access to the list of wallets, then most likely you wrote it down correctly, otherwise you would not have access. Perhaps you just need to carefully look at all the wallets and find the one that contains 12 ETH. I think you just missed it because I had similar situations.

Already tried this with no luck, also tried changing the word he though was wrong to the most similar ones from the English wordlist

There are many situations that can happen here.
You may have entered a fake version of the Metamask wallet, there are currently many fake versions created to steal users' money.
You may have had an account hack and you wrote down the wrong seed phrase.
You should first check the wallet address here https://etherscan.io/. If the wallet address is correct and 12 ETH is still in the wallet, you should carefully check your seed phrase, many cases of wrong writing from the seed can still occur.

Now just picking a password to hack the metamask is very difficult but there are many other ways through which scammers doing this.

If you are talking about bruteforce, there's definitely no way a scammer will do such method because it'll be not worth it anymore because bruteforcing a password is not as simple as "picking a password"

I agree with cj why not having multiple way of recovering before you sent your eth. Saving your private key is a good way since you can use open it in many different wallet using private key.
I'm guessing you didn't try to reopen the wallet with your passphrase before transferring the eth balance ,thats why its happen.
Retesting the seed is a crucial part that most of people usually just skip. They don't know that there are chances error to occur and not testing the seed beforehand is really something lackeys would do.
Maybe OP need to check out the word one by one if there's any typo in it or try to rearrange the words which surely take a quite the time.

No more Rekt and Bust
Double-check the seed phrase, sometimes the small punctuation or single letter can change everything in the security world of Cryptocurrencies. Maybe there is password protection for the seed phrase in the second level of decrypting the ETH wallet. If you remember that there is no password protection, then trying different combinations of seed phrases will solve the problem, I hope.

You already have the 12 seed words. But why is it still wrong and the metamask refuses to accept it? Maybe a letter is wrong and you should know where it is. And when you know where the wrong word are, look for the right letter to add. Similar to

there is no way in my opinion, that I know if you forget the password to login wallet maybe there are still services that accept it because my friend has done it. but if you lose the seed, your funds will be lost

Did you download the correct link for metamask? I'm thinking is that you might have downloaded the fake version of metamask and the seed that was given to you is also known by the creator of it. Which means that after seeing that you have sent ETH to it, they've sweep your balance.

lol READ what he said...   omg
he MADE an ETH addy, SENT 12 ETH to it, then wrote down the seed words
NOW hes trying to restore it, but it wont take the seed...        he says nothing about being robbed... now if he said "the ETH was transferred OUT", you might be right, but he didnt

@OP, theres no way for me to know from what u have said if i would be helping you jack someone (maybe you stole those seed words?) so i wont suggest how to solve this
imo, next time save a priv key Wink put it in a text file and encrypt that text file. problem solved
