Holding coins and tokens and not looking back until you start hearing how big crypto market is will leave you in a very bad mood, I'm sure this must have happened to some people here as well, this is my new sad story, I have some moozicore and nxps in holding and I just heard that they swapped to new coins leaving my tokens useless

Oh my God, that don't keep announcement updates news since many days so I missed the train of swapped. But my Token become valueless may be.  It's my another bad luck.
I'm sure that so many people made the same mistakes. We're always busy with our work, but these types of announcements cost us all the funds. So many people lost their credit ERC-20 tokens. Because the Ethereum transaction cost was so high, tokens must be sent to websites or some selected exchange. Intentionally, we missed this swapped, transaction cost is more than holding tokens.

Nah i think thats pure your mistake, when you invested on something you need to check about the news Daily. I think it only took not more than 5 minute to check about that news like that you can just go into their telegram channel, next time you should be more carefull about something like this.

Some projects will allow you to swap their tokens so you can contact them to know possible solutions. And this is a real problem if you wants to invest on shit coins in long term, you have to keep in touch with the project all the time if you don't want to lose your assets.
Yes I agree, indeed if we want to invest new coins for the long term it is better to continue to monitor the development of the project by joining their official social media.
It will be very helpful for investors to get the latest information from the project and prevent such a bad case from happening.
But it remains to be noted before starting an investment wiser we reset first for the type of coins that we will buy.

Streamity is a token which I considered almost dead after 2 years of holding but suddenly people started pumping it and then dev team went for swapping and right now it is trading in few exchanges with decent volumes. So, time to time watching all the coins/tokens you are holding will be effective regardless of you are assuming it is dead or active.

Definitely coinmarketcap is an effective way to monitor a coin/token and also we must follow the dev team in all possible social media so that we will get all latest news and events which will be helpful on deciding about our holding. Anyway OP is right; definitely this topic will be useful many new people certainly.
Yesterday my friend was checking his old metamask wallets. He had a token that I wanted him to give me, it was totally worthless token that didn't had any value but I just wanted to use it for something else, a testing purposes thing basically (wanted to use that one because it had no value, wouldn't want to lose something that has value in a test). While he was looking for that one, he came across to one of his wallets that had something called "telcoin" or something, which apparently he bought around $75 worth a few years back, about 500 days ago or so, when he checked he saw that today the same thing now worths 3600 dollars instead!

So you are 100% right, it is always good to have a spread, not spend too much money on them of course, but when you have too many coins and tokens, sometimes they shoot in value after so much, the one that can wait earns the money.

It's useless if you monitor a dead token and of course it's useless and will only waste time,
what is clear is that just continue to monitor the developments in Coinmarketcap,
and in the future what will happen to the old token whether the price will remain as it is today or maybe it will increase
Then what if the old token has not been listed on CoinMarketCap, what should be monitored? because most of the old tokens were not in Coinmarketcap, only a few were there and even then were born from projects that were really active.

Those shit projects are mostly not inside CMC, old coins that haven't got the chance being added to any decent exchange and still don't have any
updates from the team or already been abandoned.

We can't monitor them anymore and it's really useless to pay attentions with this kind of projects, maybe the chance of seeing the team back is too slim,

If there's are some, it's something unusual and it's luck most of the time for holders to earn from it.

I think that as an old token holder, that is what we need to do, monitor the market or have to open coinmarketcap frequently, at least we know what is happening with the tokens we have. I also have some old tokens that I haven't had time to sell because they are still in a state of decreasing price
Yes, old tokens that are still alive must be monitored frequently if they are already in the market, but that will not apply to old tokens that are dead and not in the market, because their value is definitely not there.

I disdain most about it is frequently the short notification and cutoff time where they begin barring holders from the trading cycle for basically no explanation or even in an unlawful manner. Undertaking concerned and observing the altcoins you put resources into are generally significant in contributing. There is nobody that will refresh us except for we ought to be the one to make the primary move in understanding what's going on with our tokens.

Ofcourse you need to remain in touch with the market to see the development in the coins in which you invested. There are many forks in the small cap coins and if you remain out of touch, you will be surprise to know that your holding are worthless because you did not swapped the tokens in time. In few cases, exchanges automatically swap tokens, but if you are holding in wallet, then there are certain steps to be performed within certain timeframe.

Which makes this market different from other markets. A swap should never lead to an investor losing money. I still don't get the point where the problem is that even though you miss a soft deadline why you then shouldn't be able to swap your coins anymore.

Developers can use that as an ugly burning mechanism, hoping that not everybody pays attention. It might even be for health reasons and your money is gone. That's not it is supposed to be in my opinion. There needs to be a security measure in place for those who are late to a swapping deadline.

That is why I suggest people just invest in those projects that had already been established for a long time, so you can still sleep well even without checking it always.
Those projects that have mentioned by OP have not already established well, the developers trying to catch which platform to be used so their projects won't be becoming wasted. But this gives big trouble to early investors who are not totally aware of the project innovation and most especially to those who are long-term investors that never bother to check their investment every day.

I have never experienced this kind of issue before because I don't bullish on altcoin and what I always is to sell my altcoin when it's in green state because altcoin market are so manipulated in nature.
But, most altcoin team decided to change to new project when their previous project concepts is outdated just like NFT and Defi ate the trend in crypto market the previous project will try to include it in their project concept but that shouldn't make your previous holding worthless mostse they ought to give old holder x2 of their previous holding.

Over the years of investing and participating in various bounties, a lot of tokens have accumulated in my wallet, many of which have been dead for a long time. But I have to periodically look through the links to their sites and official telegram channels, so as not to miss my chance if they suddenly resurrect.

This is a very bad experience.I don't usually keep coins for a very long time unless it is a very good project with a clear goal ,hard working team and a great plan .Most of my funds are stored in either Ethereum or Bitcoin for safety reasons. The best solution to holding those coins is to try and keep up with the project so as not be left behind.

Sorry for your loss mate. It's advisable that while holding any coin for long term, one should keep abreast of latest information about the project, especially at this period that many projects are migrating to other chains based on popular demand.

If you hold a token, you must know how they progress. If the token is going to swap, of course the investor will be given time to swap. Some projects have deadlines and some don't, that's the reason why you should monitor the progress of the project.

yeah, the good one will always touch about their tokens project. news will release if owner have something decision. its not only just to know about one project, but you can learn inside and make you be a better holder.
