I think as a newbie it will be better for you. There are so many ICOs available in market. I believe in ICO investing because it can be shown in the development of the ICO in a blockchain. But if you still want to invest in ICO. you should choose correctly. see the investor, vision for the future. and on what field ICO has been conducted.
It isn't a bad idea to invest only in ICOs but most of us here fear the possibility of the project ending to be a scam. If it were hodling, most of us can hodl till death but if we don't get our monies, how can we hodl.
Yes its ok, but make sure you study the ICO first before you put your investment, there are many ICO that say its good and then later turned out to be scammed, there is a good ICO we just need to analyse it and understand it.

i would recommend you Eloncity (a project of the famous Krypital team) and another one is Asura - a very interesting ico, it's a self-sustainable e-sport ecosystem, it's just a great invention for gamers. By the way it was created on neo platform, which for me is even better.

there are a lot of people who do not like ic9s. i can understand why peopel hatte scammers, hounty campaigns or airdrops, but icos... Any other promising icos ? What do you recomend.

I have never invested in ICO. I prefer to wait until ICO is over and experience a price reduction. Because based on experience, ICO coins will experience a dump after a few days enter the exchanger.
I see the quarkchain and telegram ICO very perspective. We really need the fast transactions to show the world that crypto is very useful and have a lot of advantages over fiat money and present payment systems. Fantom seems hyped enough. Also Alchemint seems ok.

I don't care much about ICO. I prefer the five coins on the market on coinmarketcap, because I think they are feasible, and of course I will meet my investment goals. If you are a novice, you need to shine your eyes before investing.
