Guys it all depends on what kind of coin you choose to hold. I am sure that for example such coins as litecoin and ethereum can be invested in long-term investments. And others will not do. For example, ripple or EOS can be invested in short investments.
Most of altcoins now are easily suitable for a long-term hold in my opinion, but I'd recommend to look out for NEO, ADA, maybe even XRP, those have good potential.
Of course, you correctly indicate the coins for a long time, but you also need to take into account the fact that today almost all top-rated coins should remain in wallets for long-term storage, since the cryptocurrency market has dropped very low and you need to wait a very long time for its recovery.

Ethereum, Neo, EOS are the altcoins good for long term investment i will prefer on it Eth in every year the price goes up like bitcoin do. Neo is a best platforms for me and a good blockchain network and lastly EOS are famous one the sleeping giant this crytocurrency is ready to explode soon that all three could bring a good profit.
if in the next three years you will make a wedding, then I suggest buying Credits or EOS or Ethereum, the three altcoins in my opinion will dominate the Altcoin in the next three years, they will compete with each other to give the best to get maximum income

Investing with no other questions asked is how to invest in things freely. Holding Altcoins long term is okay, hold Ethereum. 
Nowadays more and more projeck are doing fraud and of course we must be careful in investing. You can choose coins that are in the top CMC because of course their products have been favored by many people

Invest in different altcoins that will reduce risk This is the most stable and most popular cryptocurrency, which will grow in the near future. I think you can buy some altcoins, but also leave a little bitcoin in your wallet. It takes a lot of time to analyze coins because right now there are so many bad projects and it is so easy to make mistake

Now I prefer reliable and long-term investments. Therefore, I usually pay attention to investments in the purchase of altcoins from among the top-20. Ethereum, Ripple and Waves are now becoming such examples for me. I am sure that from next year they will successfully develop and become more expensive.

as far i know ethereum or ripple is the good crypto for long term. they are have real use in Real life

In terms of ETH or XRP, I would choose ETH, even though the XRP's growth rate is going to be high now, but in the long run, my intuition and anticipation will erupt again. The ETH team are now trying to break this coin, and they are on the way to resurrecting ETH's prices. That's why I believe ETH will recover and raise prices even higher. it would be suitable if we wanna hold it long term,

i would recommend you to hold Bitcoin and Ethereum for long term.
As soon as the guy is asking about altcoins, I would better recommend his to pay more attention to some of the rather new projects. I like Ontology and I am sure that Credits, Gladius, EIDOO has got the future as well.
One of the best buying strategies/portfolio building strategies right now is bagging tokens of good projects that got listed on exchanges in this current unstable market. Most of them are well below the ICO price but they have serious potential for a long term grow. The ones like Phantasma, 0chain, Atonomi are a steal right now.
You can choose something that is on the market today. Projects that now exist at coinmarketcap can really bring great opportunities, especially those that are in the top. Therefore, I would probably try to find the money and start investing.
Well definitely to keep for a long time I would suggest to the eth, he can totally do this and risks not very large
I think we should not all our eggs in one basket. eth is good and has good potential in the future. but there are several more coins also which can be good to buy now and keep them for 1 , 2 year.
I personally like BNB now. I think it'll grow huge in coming days.
