I think this is a crazy idea, could it be that we are starving with no hope other than selling bitcoins? if 3 days without eating we can die, selling a little to meet our food until we have another source of money is the wisest thing, don't worry because we can buy bitcoin anytime even today we can buy cheaper because the price drops more than 10% .
why didn't the OP think of splitting his bitcoins into 2 plans? for the long term and day trading.
day trading for short profit and it can be for subsistence if only need to eat. and others that he keeps for the long term according to the plans that he believes in.
but indeed, the OP is absolutely insane if he chooses to starve to keep his bitcoins. but I'm sure it's just an expression to convince that the bitcoin assets that he owns are really valuable.

Without proper knowledge of trading, short trading is nothing but throwing your money into the pond. Hodling can be done by everyone, knowledge is not mandatory for hodling your coin, and it is also many more times profitable than day trading. By doing day trading maybe you can make some profit some days but when bear will come you will get into a trap of anxiety and the result is losing seeds. One more thing if you don't have a sufficient amount of investment then Bitcoin trading is for you. Bitcoin is now the playground of the big brothers, small traders will be knockout to the market strategy.

Bisq Market Day - March 20th 2023

I sold some of my bitcoin when i was in difficult challenge few days ago. I never want to sell base on the price of bitcoin that was not too stable in the market but no choice than to sell them to save lives.
If you are still holding your bitcoin for the price to hit $60k is a good decisions, but if challenges occurred it is better you sell to solve the problem because life is very important.

if you say you are still hungry instead of selling your bitcoins, I personally don't agree with your opinion, because life needs food, why do we hoard all the wealth we have, if we can never enjoy the wealth you have, if I Personally, if I had bitcoins, and I needed food to support my family, I would definitely sell some of my bitcoins. Because life is more important than anything else..

Yeah I am starting to get to the point where I can't believe I have spent all of the bitcoin that I have over the years.  I know it's easy to say now but looking back I have spent millions and millions of dollars of bitcoin and a lot of the time on stuff I could have easily gone w/out.  I guess you can't beat yourself up over stuff like that, but it's hard not too lol.

Good principle mate. Not everyone can do this to hold their coins until they are where they are meant to be. Indeed, if we want to hold our coins, we must have special savings money for our living needs without taking our investment money to survive. So stick to that principle.
good principle if he has the income to feed him. in the past, I also did the same thing, it's just that I used ethereum as an asset that I held. Unfortunately, I was tempted by the not-so-high price and sold all the assets I had accumulated over the years. Well, I appreciate it because he's really good at holding they asset, even if he's really starving. I may have the same passion, unfortunately I put a few percent of the income I get from the crypto for the needs of my life. however, seeing this, I became excited to collect assets back. unfortunately bitcoin and ethereum have had a high price for now, so i'll probably start with BNB again.

If I wouldn't have a choice but to sell my Bitcoin then I would do it. I can't starve my family so I could keep holding. There are still opportunities for me to earn and buy Bitcoin again but if the situation would ask me to sell it, I will never have a second thought of doing it if its really needed. Holding Bitcoin is really important as an asset and investment but we can't disregard the fact that we still need money to sustain our needs.
Having food is the priority, we do invest to have food in our table as well to provide our needs. It's okay to cashout some BTC or trade it with other coins that are profitable. I sometimes do shift in other coins them just try to do some day trading and get some profit whenever I need to pay some of my bills. Cashing out doesnt mean we will get all we hold, we can get some and wait for the orhers to earn so we don't totally lose.

If you are really ready to run the risk of staying hungry just because you want to keep all your coins, then you will have a really poor life.  Grin  It is not a sensible action to take for anyone. Bitcoin doesn't guarantee you a short-term profit. What are you going to do if Bitcoin price gets stuck at some level and doesn't reach much better levels for years? Or maybe the price will go down sharply and stay there for a long time. Will you still prefer staying hungry? So, it is not a smart move to me.

Family over your investment. That is the best decision that every investor can do. Worst is they will make themselves hungry or they will sacrifice some of their daily needs that are very important for them than selling their Bitcoins.

Bitcoins are everywhere. There are several things to earn it. Why do you need to starve yourself just for the sake of Bitcoin. What if right now it is up double digits and tomorrow it will go down twice as more? I'm also holding some Bitcoins but I will not let my family starve or at least suffer just for the sake of holding Bitcoins.

Bitcoin is very important asset because we consider it as precious as gold and land lots and we hold it as investments to gain more profit in the near future. But we should have not to forget that we strive to earn and improve financially for our self and family, then as for my own opinion, there is no reason to hold our assets that we prepare for the future if it is much reasonably needed by now. As the sayings said "what's the sense of the grass if the horse is already dead".

yes you are right, you have the same opinion as me, actually when we decided to buy BTC we wanted to keep it for a long time and this is also my savings, like you, i will buy BTC and leave it somewhere not for sale at the moment. until I'm old enough to retire or be able to leave it to our children.

That's the spirit. Can't say the same. I'm holding my BTC for tow years but if i'd need money to buy food or medical treatment i would sell BTC without any doubt.

I never would like to stay hungry rather than selling my coins. I don't see Bitcoin investment as a critical thing in my life. It is not more important than the quality of my life. So I never prefer to invest most of my money into Bitcoin. I plan my investments before and don't make them all at one time. We should make our investments wisely otherwise we would have even a lower-quality life in the future.

.........

Your thought is similar to mine. My pocket is empty since 2 weeks i didn't go out. Just out for little walk well lockdown also a fact but i didn't sell my holdings yet. Because crypto change my life he gives my empty pocket a full of money bag by which now i can dream something. Now i don't care about my future like job or something as a students position now i am in a better position in  my life which is the reason i didn't want to sell my holding because it my business. And business Should holdable not sell able.  What i am doing right now.
It is really tempting when the idea of selling one's holding come to play without a good alternative of getting a sharp way to resolve the urge. Holding a coin is not and easy task especially when there good means of survival during the covid-19 period. Discipline can be a tool to resist such urge which can either give a profitable result or regrettable scene.

I will always advice every investors that can still holding there coins to continue cause I think the market is about to continue it's bull trend which will give a great results after waiting so long for the appropriate time. We should not relent in taking the risks cause this is there major weakness of almost all investors.

Now that the price of Bitcoin has returned to above 50,000, I don’t know if the Bitcoin in your hand is still there. Personally, I am more inclined to use extra funds to buy Bitcoin while meeting my own needs in life. I will not make me face a situation where I have to sell Bitcoin at a loss to make ends meet. This actually illustrates another point, which is the importance of incremental funds.

As long as income or other sources can still be of course no problem, but if we have no other funds of course we are forced to sell bitcoin, from this we must take a lesson that when investing, we must have funds to meet daily to monthly needs so that it does not interfere with investment bitcoins.

I don't want to sell the bitcoins in my hands. I have saved bitcoins for a long time and have been waiting for the value of bitcoins to rise.
Perhaps when the price of Bitcoin stabilizes, I will frequently use Bitcoin for transactions.
Bitcoin can protect people's privacy better than fiat currency.

I use Bitcoin for payment. The value of Bitcoin is rising, so I often regret it after making a Bitcoin payment.
However, I think that even if you don’t use Bitcoin, you still need to use fiat currency, so you should get used to Bitcoin payments.
After the price of Bitcoin stabilizes, the frequency of using Bitcoin will continue to rise.
