Mostly scammers victims are entered similarly here in bounty like getting your tokens directly, sometimes we can noticed that there is a processing pending, but in the end we are already a victim of scammers. Scammers are entered when transactions being made like trading sometimes, so we better watch out.

If you are not sure, it's always better to check the official Twitter or other accounts and sources.
Usually, if something important, it will be announced everywhere.
So it's better not to click on the links and check all the information twice.

I received an email from MyEtherWallet to claim some tokens of an airdrop I joined. Hovering my mouse over the link,  I discovered it's a link to another cgi scripted site.

Interestingly you don't create MEW wallets using email addresses.

Guys be careful and be vigilant.
Always be careful what you click some hackers and scammers do anything to scam people, next time don't click the link if you don't know what is that, much better to be careful always so you cannot regrets after.

This is happening most of the time, don't fall for the tricks that are changing from time to time. Scammers / hackers are also upgrading with their tactics so everyone must be careful and if you don't signup for something and there's an email that is encouraging you to link or claim something that you didn't really signed up, that's suspicious already. Domains are deceiving even their email addresses are also tricky.
Thanks for the heads up OP, this is applicable to all of us to be aware of these fake email's and websites.

That mail is just a phising one. If it also contains any suspicious request for data or they are simply expecting a reply the case cannot be more clear. Just ignore or report it.

Yeah clearly these airdrops are created to get these participant's informations,so they could have send a lot of spam emails that will redirect to some phishing sites, you should have installed metamask extension so these people wont have nay chance to steal your private keys, theres a lot of phishing sites in the web so we need to be careful.

I am sorry for those who have ever been fooled by irresponsible people. They have fun with their games that are actually hated by many people. I hope those who commit the crime can get the same vengeance as their deeds.
Don't feel sorry for them, their pain is their lesson and they should learn from their pains here. I do also hope that scammers get the karma that is coming to them, I mean how do they actually live with themselves on a day to day basis? Seems like to me only psychopaths are scammers, because somebody who cares and is emphatic wouldn't steal and scam some innocent people.

Reading through the comment, I have seen that my post did touch and remind some people of the need to be vigilant. Also, I want to correct a misunderstanding, I recieved the email showing sender as MEW but I know it is not MEW because MEW does not require email to create a wallet. Secondly, I didnt click on the link. With my time online, I do know how to protect myself a to an extend. NEVER CLICK ON LINKS FROM EMAILS (especially SPAM folder).

Thanks guys

Never open suspicious links in email. Unfortunately, there is always someone who opens such a link and exposes himself to a scam. Everyone must be very careful not only in the case of cryptocurrencies.

Myetherwallet doesnt require any email address,so that means your website which where you have created is a clearly scam website,if you have used their wallet surely they will steal all of your coins,so you shouldnt use it isntead create your wallet to myetherwallet.com because it is the most trusted website and wallet by our community.

Thanks for the information and it is also very obvious that no such sites will send an mail to claim the airdrop or any coin for that matter. But yes those who are newbie or do not know might fall in this trap or else it is not worth to even read just delete it .

Every day I get a spam message. I do not click on any of the links in these spam messages. I have to be careful because they can steal private code with a momentary fondness.

That's one reason, you must always install metamask. I do received the email too, and I was 100% sure that its just another scam.

Now, I was on a linux workstation with all addons and flash off except metmask, I still clicked on the link to check it out of curiosity, but metamask marked it already as a phishing website.

It shows how good metamask is  specially for newbies who do not understand or are unaware of these scams.
