Yeah, you heard me right. Today I was scrolling through some Instagram Reels and I saw a video of a person saying this. I'm still confused. Should I laugh or should I feel sorry for that person? So here's how the whole video goes. The man said and I quote" I saw my salary on a bottle of perfume today. So you are saying that someone out there smells like my salary."
It's kind of funny but also sad at the same time. Where have we come today? There are people trying to live a normal life with what little amount they earn. And there are people using the same amount of money just to smell good.

I bring up this to talk about financial freedom. What is financial freedom to you? Is it about having a certain amount of money that is required to have financial freedom or to have an amount of money which can potentially give you freedom in the future?

To me, I will choose the second one. If I am happy with what I have and I am certain that it will continue to help me in the future too, then I have successfully achieved financial freedom. But most people these days are caught up with the thought of using luxurious thing and being able to continuously use it is financial freedom to them.

Do you agree or disagree to this? Let me know your thoughts.
You don't have to feel sorry for anyone and once he can afford it, he should go ahead. Although this is an ostentatious good as economics has called it in reality, but I always say that if you can afford a thing that makes you happy, you should go for it. Personally, I deny myself of many things especially when I see them as frivolities, but I will always respect the wish/want of others if they can afford it and do not do it out of being broke.

Wait a minute, is it the smell of one's salary you are talking about, what about the smell of the entire lifetime fortune of some people? There are some very rich who will always want to waste this money since they do not have much other use for it and this is how the money mostly circulates among the rich as they procure what couldn't even justify the pay.

And to them, their financial freedom is certain as they are rich and have numerous investments all over the place. It's the poor people who would be surprised by this as the way of life of the rich is in the king's category.

[Just for context, I am not talking about holding money. I am talking about investments that good give me passive income that will continue to come in the future and give me financial freedom. As long as I can survive with that amount of money and not worry about the future, then it is financial freedom to me.]

You don't need to be jealous of other people's income, if you keep comparing your current income with successful people (who earn hundreds of US dollars per day) then you will be stressed and frustrated, but if you compare your current income with people who don't working or unemployed then you will definitely be grateful for what you are currently earning, believe me if you have a strong intention to change your life then slowly but surely you will be given a way by God who owns this life and you will feel satisfied in the end.

He should be glad his salary is worth a substance with an adorable and pleasant smell. Lol.

Our salaries must worth something it's left for you to improve your skills and knowledge in whatever service you're rendering as a worker to raise your value to worth something much revered than a bottle of a perfume.

There's a piece about life most humans are not getting and that's very bad what you think is in excess for you is what another is lacking, what I may take so important could be what another sees as a piece of cake by virtue of his financial status that's why financial freedom is a subjective matter as my financial freedom can start from where yours ends and this is subject to our dreams in life.

Financial freedom is one of the topics that is always discussed when talking about money, business and investments, but you rarely find a precise definition of this wording, so everyone who talks about it simply talks about having enough money, but it means living a luxurious life without being forced to work, and here  job will be just a choice. Many people complain about their salaries, but what is more important than the salary and job is enhancing your assets so that it generates more and more money and profits for you easily.

Just as financial freedom has different meanings that is how the word luxury is relative because it means different things to different people. To some persons owning a house is a luxury while others see it as poverty because they own more than properties in chosen areas. To me financial freedom is not a life of luxury or having so much where you don't work to survive but it is the ability to have all you need to survive and live the kind of life you desire for yourself. It is the freedom from financial debt and pressure, the ability to cover all your expenses and build savings for the future. If living a luxurious life is the true definition of financial freedom, I am afraid that the majority of the world's population will never attain it. For me, I don't necessarily need to live in luxury or don't work for me to be financially free.

Someone shouldn't get bothered if they see the worth of their salary as the price of a perfume. Everyone know their financial status and their level in the society as their are rich, average and poor people and that reflect on how much we are able to earn at the end of the day. But instead of being bothered about that, we should try and cut down on expenses and luxurious lifestyle to savings and investment. By doing that with patience and focus, we can get out of such low salary or income status because multiple investment accrues to more financial potential increase.

I think having financial freedom means having enough money that can last for more than 200 years, even when prices go up. This money will cover important things like children's education and family healthcare.
To make sure this money lasts for long time, it will be good to have some different ways to make money regularly, like owning a business or renting out property.
That way, anyone can keep their finances safe for a long time and become financially free.

Managing your personal life is built on what others have shaped for you. It sounds funny, but the truth is, in life, we don't even know what we're living for. Things are considered hobbies, and they will identify with those who share them, the opposite of those who see them as redundant and wasteful. I feel like as long as we can afford to spend it on that hobby without any stress or regret, we should. Before, I also found it quite funny when a hat was priced at thousands of dollars, and I didn't understand that owning that hat added value to the user, but the story is about hobbies. Along with human desire, the nature of winning and losing is part of the problem. And sometimes we feel sorry for them, but let's try to put it in their mind, it's important to be willing to spend big on things that we don't like, but they like. If I can't help them, I don't think it's necessary to stay and debate with them about their views on life.

We have to know this that life itself is not balanced, what is important to you may not be a valuable asset to another person, some people can spend what others can earn in a year in just a day, we need to to just cut our clothes according to our size, some are spending more than their income, yet after they would have waste resources on unnecessary things they become broke and those that earn little but knows how to maintain spending last longer in managing themselves, despite their low income, they still manage to save up some money and cut costs.

Their money, their choice.

If they are working to buy their wants, let them be, maybe that's where they get their happiness, because they can't get that expensive thing when they were just a kid, or any reason at all. For sure they know the consequences of what they are doing, in the long run, they just don't care for that since their mindset is that they could earn it again and again.

Other people chose to save their money, buy things that is more practical to save even more, which is very good in the long run, especially if you have your own family. Some people choose to be a social climber, and some people choose to be simple. Choose your hard in life.

You have to understand that all products have different target markets, so you might get your cheap perfumes that are targeted to the poor and middle class people and then you get the expensive perfumes for the rich people and this is the same for most products in the market.

I think if they made a perfume based on my monthly salary, then people using it might smell like a Skunks ass.  Cheesy  In any way, most people never reach a stage in their life, where they acquire passive income... the majority have to work for it until they die.  Tongue

A lot of governments provide social grants to people when they pension without benefits, so that might be perceived as passive income.

After considering my current situation, I have decided to choose the second option as it appears more feasible for me. Having enough funds to provide me with possibilities and opportunities in the future is more exciting than relying on luck, a sugar daddy/mommy, or engaging in illegal activities.

Financial freedom is basically when you don't worry about money anymore, or at least not that much. If you can purchase that luxurious perfume without sacrificing your other basic needs, savings, and others, then you're financially free. If you can build a big house, buy a nice car, abundantly provide your family's needs and wants, and so forth, you're financially free.

It matters, however, whether your stream of income comes from salary, business revenue, dividend, and so on. While I consider an employee having a huge regular salary as financially free, he/she is not to be compared with somebody who can take a vacation everyday because he/she doesn't have to work to earn, even if the former earns more than the latter. It makes a huge difference.

Having said this, we should set our priorities. If something is unnecessary, it might be better not to buy it and save the money instead or use it to give you additional source of income. The goal is certainly not only financial freedom but a free life.

In general, I agree with your opinion regarding financial freedom.

In my personal opinion, financial freedom is someone who has an income, whether small or large, they are able to differentiate between what is a priority and what is not, are able to meet basic or basic needs and have leftovers to buy secondary needs. In essence, people who are free from debt and credit are people who are financial freedom.

When one's basic necessities are satiated, they start looking for pleasures further and spending money on luxurious things in one of them.

I bring up this to talk about financial freedom. What is financial freedom to you? Is it about having a certain amount of money that is required to have financial freedom or to have an amount of money which can potentially give you freedom in the future?

If there is some need then I should have enough money in my bank account to satiate that need, this is financial freedom for me. There is no end to 'wants' so I used the word 'need' specifically here.

I basically think just as you do, even if I had the money to buy very expensive items I would not do so as I simply get nothing from them that I could not get from a cheaper item, to me financial freedom is being able to pursue my goals and my interests without having to worry about where the money to sustain myself will come from, and while I have not reached that level of wealth yet, I am optimistic about my possibilities of reaching that state thanks to bitcoin.

You can literally see a lot of things that are pricey and similar to the bare minimum wage salary of an average person. The thing is if we compare the person who buys expensive perfumes to people who's worth their salary to the perfume, for sure they can afford it as they might have investments and savings because if they would rely on their salary as well, they might not buy luxurious products just to look good. That's how powerful financial freedom is, that's why it is much better to be disciplined and focused on investment and savings first because you will be the one who's gonna benefit in the end. If your salary is not enough for investment cause you would need to provide all your needs, I think alternate money sources would do good, as long as its legal cause we wouldn't tolerate illegal activities.
Every person who has an average minimum wage income will certainly manage the expenses he needs well, because if he cannot manage them well and prefers to use more expensive goods then his income will certainly not be enough to meet his needs. If we choose to focus on investing, of course we will be able to achieve the financial freedom that we and we want and if we can't invest yet, it would be better for us to save first and resist the desire for things we don't need in order to be able to save and invest.

I'm talking about smart, informed judgements that examine market patterns, economic indications, and growth prospects

(...) diversify your portfolio

What?!

Why should you diversify your portfolio, when you can read market patterns and use them? If you know something, you know something. And it will materialize. So you do not have to diversify.

And "passive income" is a scam!

The huge gap between what people earn and what they spend on perfume reflects today's economic inequality. Long-term security and the ability to survive without financial anxiety are my definition of financial freedom. Your second point is right: financial freedom is being certain of future support, not having a lot of money

Passive income investments are smart. The backbone of financial stability, they generate money without effort. Money should serve you, not vice versa. I favour investments that both generate returns and boost the economy. Contributing to a system where wealth is accumulated and distributed to benefit society is more than just personal gain

I'm talking about smart, informed judgements that examine market patterns, economic indications, and growth prospects, not merely pouring money into stocks or bonds. Be smart with your investments, diversify your portfolio, and understand the economy. That's how I define financial freedom: it's a secure future, not just for me but for the economy I'm a part of

In 1998 I ate an animal that was instinct the very same year.

Now, if you want to buy all the food in the world with your money, just to taste everything, it is not possible to get my expierence from 1998.

Always freedom is limited and related to something deep slaverish. In philosophy they have the concept of total freedom, what is impossible: "Freedom is the ability to be unfree." And in philosophy they have "smaller freedoms" more related to a special situation. And all the freedoms are different (related to another topic).

To your questions:

First you are using the term "passive income". These words are an indicator, that you be in a scamming bubble. ("Burning" is also n indicator word for a scam in Crypto.)

Then, you gave me two choices to answer. I do not do that! Look, what I love in that world I can get without money.
