Not only Sri Lanka, I was most surprised to see New Zealand's performance in this World Cup. However, Sri Lanka had played quite well in the previous few series of the World Cup. So we expected South Africa and Sri Lanka from Group D to qualify for the next round. But the Sri Lankan team could not win even one of the three matches. Sri Lanka may lose against Netherlands in the last match.
But I don't understand why the New Zealand team has such a bad fate. New Zealand are at the bottom of the table after losing two matches. Lost against Afghanistan by 84 runs and lost against West Indies by 13 runs. New Zealand have no chance of qualifying for the next round.
You will be surprised after a few days as to how many big cricket teams will now be going back. The problem is the pitch and none of the boards were expecting such a wicket. That can be one of the reasons. There may be another reason which can be adaptability to the conditions and playing according to it. Then we know a lot of big teams have been showing us the future as they have not been able to get new talents. They are still using those old players who have become tired after playing in different leagues throughout these years. We as spectators can only watch and comment as we are not in the the ground.

There was no option for Bangladesh to win against Netherlands and Bangladesh managed to get that win against Netherlands. Shakib Al Hasan has shown great performance in batting and bowling. You may say Shakib Al Hasan bowled 4 overs but he didn't get any wicket here I will tell you how he bowled the last two overs with all his experience even though he didn't get a wicket it is undoubtedly admirable. Bangladesh made bowling changes at crucial moments and they got the break through and this is where Bangladesh turned the match. Basically Rishad Hossain's 2 wickets in one over is where Bangladesh came back against Netherlands. Now the next round of Bangladesh is almost certain. If Bangladesh qualifies in the next round, Bangladesh will face Afghanistan
Bangladesh was able to win against the Netherlands pretty easily in the end. At one point it looked like Bangladesh was actually going to lose the match. Especially when Vikram was playing really well for the Netherlands. But it was actually good captaincy from Shanto to bring in Mahmudullah in the attack. He was able to get that crucial wicket. That was the turning point of the match in my opinion. Even though Shanto is not a good performer, he is a decent captain in my opinion. But there is no doubt that he still has to perform. Just look at the way he lost his wicket in this match as well. It was completely unnecessary.
Anyway, in the end, it was good bowling from Mustafiz and Rishad to make sure that Bangladesh won the match by 25 runs. Now Bangladesh will feel like they have a great chance to get into the Super Eight. Something nobody actually expected from Bangladesh to be honest.

There was no option for Bangladesh to win against Netherlands and Bangladesh managed to get that win against Netherlands. Shakib Al Hasan has shown great performance in batting and bowling. I am looking forward to tomorrow's match between West Indies vs New Zealand. If New Zealand wants to qualify for the next round, they need to beat the West Indies at any cost and get full points. There are 4 teams that I am sure will be part of the Super 8. They are Australia West Indies, India and South Africa. The next 4 teams as per my logic & understanding will be the US, Scotland, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. There will be two debutant teams this time for sure and two can be established teams.
Both the USA and Scotland are looking good. Due to inexperience they will get defeated in the Super 8. Getting defeated doesn't matter as these two will get good experience playing against the best. As in the past Ireland and Afghanistan did when they got a place to play against the big teams in an ICC event.

The result of the West Indies versus New Zealand match has surprised me, to be honest. First of all, I thought New Zealand should have done much better to finish off West Indies. There was no way anyone actually thought that West Indies was going to reach 149 after they had lost the ninth week at 112. and even the way they started, it was really horrible. The whole West Indies innings was a one-man show. Rutherford was the only one playing like the pitch was batting-friendly.
